What a gorgeous and fun book! I’ve been interested in clay jewelry making for a while, but this book was such a great and comprehensive guide.
I loved the colours and photography of this arc, I can’t wait to try the projects!
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very informative book with lots of projects, and step by step pictures that really explained how to make the jewelry. From explaining all the tools used, to showing how to make the clay patterns, this was a great book for those interested in polymer clay jewelry, and also showing why retail prices are what they are. It takes a lot of work and time to make these!
Thank you Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster for the ARC!
This was a great book for starting to make polymer clay jewelry and for also understanding why it costs so much when you are ordering from places like Etsy. There are a lot of steps involved, and every piece needs some real attention to detail to be a good end product.
I liked that this book started out with a bunch of introductory pages to speak to the different types of clays, equipment and techniques. And that each of these included vibrant photos! So many instruction books kind of skip the photos, and with YouTube tutorials that are more visual, I find that this is a real miss. Thankfully, not the case here. And also with each of the individual projects. The author takes the time to show how each project is done with photos and clear instructions, even when the instructions may repeat from earlier in the book. And that is good because it means I'm not flipping back and forth to find out how to do something that I could just quickly read through on page. Also if I have something in my hand because I'm doing the craft at the same time, I don't have to try and navigate around with dirty hands.
The ideas are pretty straight forward and easy to execute. Well, I say easy, but I have yet to test one because I'm a bit daunted with taking on a new craft. But they seem to be, to my novice eyes, something you can accomplish without getting really frustrated.
I also liked that these are all bright and colourful because so many people would shy towards less vibrant and funky. But if you're making clay stuff, vibrant is a must. Right?! And some of the projects were really cute like the bananas which were easier than I thought they would be.
All in all, if you are into making clay products and want to get into jewelry, this is a good book to get started. If you are also just learning polymer clay work and want to start with something you'll use or could even sell, then this is also a great option for that.
The child that is in you will like this book, you can turn back in time and manipulate the colored clay in your hands. Now you can create beautiful real jewelry, there are many projects, difficult to say which one to prefer.
Gorgeous colors and patterns, step-by-step tutorials, richly illustrated., in the accustomed excellent layout of the publisher Walter Foster.
This book is super inviting to new crafters to Polymer Clay. With a complete guide to brands of clay, tools, and choosing colors, this is a great book for beginners looking to create their own jewelry!. The projects in here look so fun and cute and the instructions include both detailed step by step directions both written and in pictures!
This book seems great for anyone who wants to start working with clay to make jewelry with flexible projects and clear directions.
Well! I am not going anywhere!
I really want to get this book.
I never thought polymer jewellery making would be this detailed and intricate though I have thought about it.
The book gives a very detailed yet concise description on how to start making the necessary steps before baking. Yes, it’s all so new to me too. And comes the next major section of the guidebook with lots and lots of how-to-do projects which I feel would help the readers the most with a wide variety of ideas and how to do the basics on the project topics given. The book ends with a short section on the basics of baking and after baking. You will understand better when you read it as I did! So no worries.
Love the amazing images.

My daughter and I have recently been dabbling in polymer clay crafts, and I’ve been wanting to make some jewelry after seeing so many beautiful pieces on Etsy. But I really didn’t know where to start from the hundreds of resources online. Rachael Skidmore’s Polymer Clay Jewelry is the perfect all-in-one-spot for general how-tos and sample projects. I can’t wait to use it to get started. Beautifully illustrated with easy-to-follow directions.
