The main characters, Ari and Josh, start out so unlikeable that there HAS to be some growth. There is (just a little), but it's still tough to get through some parts.

This was just not for me!

It sounded like something I'd love but I wasn't a fan of the characters and I don't think the premise was executed very well...

I don't care that this started as Reylo fanfiction, I wasn't even picturing Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley reading this book. I saw them as their own characters, just Josh and Ari. This book charmed me. I loved their enemies to friends to lovers dynamic; this book made me laugh with it's sarcasm and very specific sense of humor. Smiling and shaking my head constantly at my bisexual disaster babies. I loved them so much! This definitely had the vibes of 'When Harry Met Sally' and I could definitely feel the homage to Nora Ephron. The last 100 pages or so was a bit too much angst for me though, so it's a 4.5/5 star for me. My favorite romance of the year so far!

Nope this book was not for me. I was going mad during it. The characters were terrible and had no chemistry. Nope. No thank you.

I was so excited to read this because When Harry Met Sally is my all time favorite movie. And yet… Never have I read two more unlikable main characters. They weren’t good people, their elitist mindset was irredeemable, and they weren’t good partners. I’m aware a lot of people like them exist in the real world, but I wasn’t rooting for them at all. In any situation.

This book was extremely long and there were times when I nearly did not finish, but I am glad I stuck with it. I loved seeing the connection between the two MCs over the years, the kismet as they keep crossing paths.

this book was very cute, and I can't wait to read more by Kate! it was just so something that I needed in this moment .

I absolutely adored this book! The characters were so real and relatable! I enjoyed the different timelines and really getting to know the characters and their love for each other!

I've tried to get into this book many times since I received this ARC but I just can't get into it. The story is so slow and the FMC is very unlikeable. I had to DNF after giving it a few tries since it came out.

Pitched as a milennial take on When Harry Met Sally, I happily enjoyed it a lot more than I did the movie (it's just never worked for me personally). It's sort of a chance meeting enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story that's heavy on banter, quarter life crisis career issues, and emotional blockages on the part of both protagonists. Ari and Josh have a slow, complicated, messy love story that I nevertheless rooted for the entire time. Goldbeck's writing is very solid, and I felt I got to know the characters extremely well over the course of the novel and the years in their lives that it covers; I also liked the glimpse into chef careers, since that's a niche interest of mine in romances. It's definitely more spicy than sweet, so as long as that's what you're in the mood for, I think you'll enjoy.

I received an eARC of You, Again from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

WOW. This was truly, like, When Harry Met Sally if it took an acid trip.

I found myself frustrated at times with this story and with the main characters - namely the lead female - but a lot of that was because it felt like there was continually drama being added for the sake of extending the plot.

With that being said, I found this to be a genuinely refreshing read and laugh-out-loud funny at times. I was completely rooting for them as a couple by the end of it, and even their engagement at the end of the book seemed so PERFECT and in-character for everything that had led them to that point.

This novel made me very intrigued about kate Goldbeck, and excited to read whatever it is that she puts out next!

Thank you for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. What a fun read.

I have seen many positive reviews of this, but I couldn’t get into it. I found the beginning jumpy and the FMC to be crass and unlikable. I couldn’t finish it.

Who doesn’t love a “When Harry Met Sally” inspired romance?! This was a fun one — I really enjoyed the characters and the sex-positive tone that was set right from the start. Watching these two go from dislike to friends to more was everything, and I devoured this one in just a couple days. I definitely recommend romance lovers read this one!

To be honest, I wasn’t that into the book at the beginning because I found Josh, the MMC rude, stuck up and annoying. I truly hoped he wouldn’t end up with Ari, the FMC who is outgoing, witty and straightforward. Beckman did a great job making you love the characters though despite the terrible first impressions for both characters.

I loved that this book is a long rollercoaster of emotions, it starts pretty slow but a third of the way, the dips and loops begin and wouldn’t end until the very end. At one point I did not know who I was broken hearted for anymore. I just wanted them to be happy together. I loved the flirting and the clever banter.

I found that I liked reading this on my ereader because Beckman uses highfaluting words that I had to search up: oeuvre, ostensibly, hegemonic being some of them.

Would I recommend this book to a friend? Yes!

Honestly… I wished they’d stayed enemies to begin with. The book was hard to get into, their relationship was cringy, and you can’t really connect with the characters at all.

Reading this book was like being on a rollercoaster. There were moments where I thought I was enjoying myself immediately followed by moments where I wanted nothing more than to skip to the end. I couldn’t connect with Ari and Josh. Funnily enough they couldn’t connect with each other either. This had some good elements, but ultimately fell short for me.

It took me a long time to get into this book… There was nothing wrong with it… I think the concept the writing everything was great and I can see why this one is a popular book. I personally didn't connect to the characters until the very end when the book redeemed itself for me!

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, ABSOLUTELY LOVED this one. This is not your typical romance novel. In fact, it's a hot mess...but it absolutely works. An amazing debut.

This was the most perfect modern "When Harry Met Sally" inspired love story and I am so here for it. The characters felt like real people and the writing was absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend!

enemies to lovers 5eva. Easily my favourite trope and such a well executed story! I really like Kate Goldbeck's writing and look forward to seeing what she does next.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.
