Totally didn't think this was gonna leave on a cliffhanger ending... This is a will they won't they book.... a forbidden as well... as a slow build book...
I loved this book!
I loved the characters and their development
The plot was wonderful and I loved the content and it couldn’t put it down.
It does leave you hanging though and wanting more…
It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!!
Love, love, love this book!!! It was an absolute emotional roller coaster. I'm all for brother's best friend trope, even if I don't like the bully trope it helped me through the whole thing. I loved the chemistry between these two. Definitely to all enemies to lovers, small town sport romance fans.
Just when it was getting good the book was over. So disappointing. This was just a introduction to their story.
The writing was good and even though I never read the first two books it was easy to understand.
The characters were pretty flat so that was disappointing.
Boy oh boy, am I pissed about that open ending. That isn't even called an ending. It was too abrupt.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book, provided by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
*phew* I'm pretty picky about my bully romances, and Daniela Romero is one author I know I trust in this area. I met Dom and Kasey is previous books, so it was so obvious they would end up together haha This is the first book of their story.
Dom is Kasey's brother's best friend - so of course she's off limits in the love and lust department. Doesn't stop Dom from wanting her, tho. When a tragedy brings them closer, can they keep away from each other?
I admit sometimes the "bully" part of the romance makes me flinch, but it's never bad enough to trigger anything with me. Please if you are thinking about reading this book, check the trigger warnings.
Daniela Romero cannot write any wrong. This series has captivated my heart, I am floored at the amount of tears I've shed while reading the series. Full of love, heartbreak and frustrations, so good.
I received a copy of this in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGAlley.
This was my first book by Daniela Romero [ at least that I can recall ]. s o I did go into this being unsure of their writing style.
Now, this book won't be for everyone. There is an age gap in this where the FMC is a minor in the start of the book and the MMC is a senior in college. That in itself is slightly taboo and may not bode well with some. But for those of us who love taboo / forbidden, it's no shock.
Dom is your typical alpha-male... but kind of ... irritating at times.
The ending was too..abrupt. I'm sure it was to set it up for the next book in the series, but still.. i feel like it's missing something there. ;/
Cruel Devil just wasn’t really the book for me, with Kasey being a minor during this story while Dom is starting his senior year of college just didn’t sit right with me. I get the brothers best friend thing, but she could have at least been 18.
Other than that, I felt like it wasn’t connecting all the small parts of the plot together, and needed trauma to keep the story going.
Typical enemies-to-lovers romance. The book is fine - engaging enough to finish but not compelling enough to read the next in the series - but that's about the best thing I can say about it. The characters aren't very memorable and Dom's whole alpha-male bs isn't even warranted especially at this stage in their relationship. She's allowed to have friends, dude, chill out.
I have a lot to say about this book, both really good-and bad. First off, from the very beginning, I didn't really love the way her family was written. Her mom and brother both seemed way to overprotective, and treating her like she was a child. I don't know, but it really didn't sit well with me. Then comes the male lead, and honestly, in the beginning he and the FMC had such good chemistry. However, as the book went on, it seemed to just fizzle out. My biggest issue with this book, though, was the ending. It just, stopped. Halfway through what I thought was just a normal chapter, it ended. It left so many holes in chapters and in the plot line that it made this book difficult for me to read. Yet, I loved the authors writing style. I know that's a little contradictory, but they had just a way with words that I found really enjoyable.
Ratings:
Overall: 2/5
Steam: 2/5
Plot: 0/5
Quotes:
“Never let them see you cry, sweetheart,”
“I’m not going to ask again, Kasey. Who. Fucking. Touched. You?”
"Someone hurt her. Whoever he is, he’s a dead man."
“Don’t you dare open that pretty little mouth of yours and scream like that again. Do you feel me? Unless you’re ready to tell me who the fuck was dumb enough to touch you, or decide to drop down on your knees and wrap your lips around my cock, your mouth is going to stay closed.”
"I want her to ache because of me and I want to be the only one capable of taking that ache away."
“Puta madre, Que te Folle un Pez!”
“I hate you,” I tell him. “I hate you. I hate you. I hate you.” “I hate you, too,” he tells me, but the way he says it doesn’t sound like he’s telling me he hates me at all."
Absolutely loved the characters and the plot of this book! I was not expecting the cliffhanger though! Now I have to grab the next book! Does touch on some heavy topics but this book was better than I expected.
I did like most of this book but finding out that it's a duology but then it's actually a trilogy irritates me. Mostly because this book isn't even long so it could definitely all be in one. I liked them together but the book just ended so weird and I can guarantee that their story could have all been in one book.
Cruel Devil is book 3 in the Devils of Sun Valley High series by Daniela Romero.
One of the best high school romances I’ve probably ever read.
Romero has written another amazing read that you cannot put down till the very last page and then it leaves you still wanting more.
I was immersed in this from the start.
These characters sucked me into their whirlwind.
Leaving me anxious and excited for me.
Daniela Romero story takes you on one hell of a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
An amazing, interesting and compelling enemies to lovers sports romance.
I can’t wait to start Cruel Promise!
