I'm amazed at the speed that Daniel writes his novels, but for avid fans like me it's just as well he does.
If you're looking for a fast paced psychological thriller then Daniel is definitely an author you need to read.
In this novel we meet Kate who is reluctantly planning her wedding, what should be the happiest time in a womans life is sadly lacking in Kate's as her fiance Mark is controlling and abusive. But she forgets all of this when she meets another couple in the bridal shop, and unfathomably decides to stalk them. But as per most thrillers things don't quite go to plan.
An enjoyable read
Love the writing of Daniel Hirst with his clever plots with their twists and turns. With "The Bride To Be" the reader is transported through the lead ups to two weddings with some interesting links between each and what transpires is not what this reader predicted. Thoroughly enjoyable book that leaves you wanting to read more of Daniel Hurst books.
The Bride to Be by Daniel Hurst is a twisty tale of love gone wrong!
Kate is engaged to be married and isn't in the happiest of relationships. Her fiance, Mark, is verbally and emotionally abusive. When she's wedding dress shopping and sees the attentive Tristan with his fiancee, she can only imagine he would be a much better groom for her! And so begins an adventure of stalking, manipulation, revenge, and murder!
The prologue starts us off with a bang and then the suspense continues to build right up until the epilogue. I loved the short chapters and the characters were all well-formed and the plot was juicy and surprising.
I was on the edge of my seat for this one and couldn't flip the pages on my kindle fast enough. This was the kind of excellent psychological thriller that I devoured in well under 24 hours! And has me looking at more Daniel Hurst backlist titles to add to my TBR!!
The bride to be starts out crazy and only gets crazier. So many twists and turns. A very good twisted psychological thriller
My thanks to Inkubator Books and Net Galley for the arc to review.
Kate and Mark are getting married. Tristan and Tess are getting married. Kate sees Tristan and Tess at the bridal shop while there and Tristan becomes Kate's obsession and wants to be with him instead of Mark. This leads to lots of twists and turns.
Loved this book. My third one by this author. Book was quick, easy and a page turner with a great flow!
I have read several of Daniel's books and really enjoy his style of writing. Another easy to read book with a few twists to keep me engaged. I thought he wrote about the subject of domestic abuse very sensitively and well. Keep the books coming as I for one can't wait for the next. I highly recommend this book and author.
I really like Daniel Hurst's books. This book, like his others, flowed well, and was an easy and quick read. There were quite a few twists, however, I wish it was a little more "twisty" - especially at the end. I was left wanting more. Still, a book worth reading, though!

A 5-star review wasn’t “to be”…(sorry not sorry for the bad pun).
Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions here are my own.
Bride to be, Kate, spots another engaged couple whilst wedding dress shopping. Feeling trapped in her current relationship, she idolises the couple she has observed, and develops a bit of an obsession with the bride’s fiancé… Over time, she soon realises that things aren’t as sweet as they seem behind closed doors.
The book is fast paced and very easy to read, and I found that the prologue was strong and had me wanting to read on. The rest of the book is in the first person narrative of the protagonist (Kate) so it’s generally quite conversational. However, I felt that this narrative led to overexplaining the entire book. Literally every action and thought Kate has is spelled out and it gave me no opportunity to read between the lines. Truthfully, I think another round of editing to cut a lot of this out would probably make the book itself more palatable.
Overall, I feel like the general plot was carried far too easily considering the consequences that could have arose, and I kept chasing for a thrill that I couldn’t find. I appreciate that Hurst tried not to leave loose ends but I felt it was noticeable when something happened in the book for the sake of tying these up. To its credit though, the book’s theme involving domestic abuse was handled quite sensitively in my opinion.
I know that many others have rated this book higher, so I’m sure there is an audience that would enjoy this for a quick read, however I definitely think there’s room for improvement in its plot and delivery.

I found this a very easy book to read. The flow was great and I never felt lost or confused. I've read this author before and enjoyed all of them. Although I would not consider this a psychological thriller because you will know everything when it happens and be on the edge of your seat. I still love his books and will continue to read them.
Ugh, I'm so upset that I just didn't like this one as much as I hoped. I think the outlandish behavior of the characters and how quickly things progressed after the outlandish choices/behaviors happened soured my feelings even more. It was still a super fun read, it just kept me going, ".... girl, what?!" Good for a lie in with popcorn for sure.
Daniel Hurst has done it again! Another great book full of so many twists and turns. You never know what is going on behind closed doors. As many outsiders might look at the perfect couple preparing to get married and have their happily ever after, little do they know what is really going on within their relationship. I have never read a Daniel Hurst book that disappoints, and The Bride to Be just continues to show that. What a great book!
Im so glad this author quit the day job to write full time, his books are SO GOOD, and this means he can churn they out at a rate of knots without compromising on quality.
'The Bride to Be' is a gripping and original work of psychological fiction that is easily a 5 start read for me.
The plot is based around a somewhat dissatisfied bride, who encounter, and intimately becomes quite obsessed with, a glamorous couple she observes in the wedding dress shop. Her fantasises about what her life could be like if she married this man, rather than her own fiancé, are enabled by social media, and an accidental click of the mouse sets in motion chain of events that are shocking, thrilling, and utterly worthy of reading about!
Won't say more for fear of spoilers, just read this book - it doesn't not disappoint!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
On the surface, bride to be, Kate, and her fiancé Mark appear to be made for each other. However, Kate is hiding a secret from everyone they know: Mark is abusive and Kate is having serious doubts about the upcoming wedding. Then one day, while dress shopping, she encouters Tess and Tristan. The glamorous, gorgeous couple appear to have it all and Kate becomes obsessed with finding out more about them, especially Tristan who appears to be nothing like moody and abusive Mark. Kate soon discovers the couple are harboring a dark secret of their own and she is determined to take action before both couples head to the altar. The Bride to Be is a fast paced, edge of your seat thriller that you will not be able to put down once you start. Loaded with twists and turns to keep you guessing every step of the way! Many thanks to Netgalley and Inkubator Books for providing the ARC.
Thank you so much Netgalley for the chance to read this advanced copy in exchange for a review!
I absolutely love psychology thrillers so I was very excited when I was approved for this read! Could not put it down!
I have read several books by this author and enjoyed them all. This one did not disappoint.
Kate is planning her wedding to Mark. It is an exciting time, and yet, Kate has doubts. Mark can be moody, and has occasionally mistreated her, Kate wonders if Mark is really the right man for her.
She is looking for the perfect wedding dress, but time is getting short, another reason why Mark is impatient with her. Kate is at the bridal shop looking at dresses and sees a couple there, also looking at dresses together. From wishing that Mark was interested enough to look at dresses with her too, Kate envies what she sees as a perfect couple. She discovers their names are Tristan and Tess, and becomes obsessed with finding out more about them, particularly Tristan, who she starts to think of as the right man for her, her ideal man.
Both the couples have secrets, which begin to come to light as Kate discovers more about the relationship between Tristan and Tess, and she has decisions to make about who will get their happy ever after.
This was a psychological thriller which kept me guessing to the last page,
I can always count on this author for a quick and entertaining read. THE BRIDE TO BE was exactly what I needed to binge read on a sunny California day.
Kate is engaged to marry Mark and although he has mood swings and often treats her badly, she still wants to go through with the wedding fearing at the age of 38 she will not be given another chance to meet and marry someone. While dress shopping, she spots a seemingly perfect couple named Tess and Tristan. Soon, Kate becomes obsessed with the couple and discovers not all is what it seems.
I loved the stalker vibes in this story, with the MC Kate going to crazy lengths to learn more about the couple, namely Tristan who she begins to develop feelings for from afar. There were a few times I was screaming at her in my head for making such stupid decisions. But then again, stalkers do not ever think clearly.
The story does involve domestic abuse and the reader is reminded domestic abuse comes in all forms and does not discriminate.
I was underwhelmed with the ending and was hoping for something to shock me, nevertheless, I was still very entertained by this story and have no problem recommending THE BRIDE TO BE to fans of domestic thrillers.
The Bride To Be will publish on May 7, 2023.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my e-ARC.
This was an easy enough read with a somewhat predictable plot about a woman due to get married to a man who isn’t as nice as the outside world thinks.
I found the writing style easy to read and follow along with but the characters were quite one dimensional. The plot was a touch predictable but all in all a nice easy read.
Very excited to get a book by Daniel Hurst on Netgalley. There should be a way of flagging favourite authors when a new book comes out on Netgalley! As ever, a real page turner, with twists and turns the whole way. Excellent read.
Thankyou to NetGalley, the publisher and author for allowing me to read this ARC.
What can I say, but wow Daniel Hurst has done it again!
I literally do not think that Daniel is capable of writing a bad book!
Every book that Daniel writes is a home run and I have read all his books and they keep getting better.
I love his writing style and the unique story lines that he has writes.
This book had suspense, betrayal and was thrilling.
I love books with stalker vibes so this was right up my alley.
I love how well written the characters were.
Loved this book and looking forward to the next one!
I also love how interactive the author is with his fans on Facebook!
Highly recommend to everyone.
Thanks again

As i always mentioned in my reviews, i love a fast paced story like this. However I find this not thrilling enough to give higher than my review. I always love an unpredictable twist/ending, but this one doesn’t deliver (if you’ve read this, you know what I’m referring to, and if you count that one as a twist). I had to read this part twice to understand what was happening.
Also, this was my first book from the author, I’ve been seeing friends recommending and I’m sure i will still be reading some of the author’s works soon.
Thank you NetGalley for approving me an ARC of this.
Favorite line:
‘We’re so close to getting married to bad people and for what? To keep up appearances? To fit in more in our social circle? It’s ludicrous. Your real friends won’t care if you’re single or not. They just want you to be happy.’
