A beautiful story about a family business. Full of tragedy, heartache, family, love, deceit, and friendship this was another Danielle Steel book not to be put down. Thank you NetGalley for an early copy of this book.
I started the first chapter this morning and finished the book in the same day. As usual Danielle Steel did not disappoint. I hadn’t read on of her books in several years and reading this one made me want to read some of the ones I’ve missed. . She writes with such vivid descriptions that I felt like I was in Rome and Venice along with her characters. It’s a story about family and how no matter how hard we love them, sometimes it’s out of our control.
If you haven’t read a Danielle Steel novel, you really should.
I was given an advance reader copy of this book.
Palazzo is a typical Steel novel. They are always predictable but there is something comfortable about reading her novels. The setting is beautiful Italy and of course there is a little drama and romance sprinkled throughout the story.
If you are a fan of Steel this is a must read for you and if you haven’t read Steel, give this one a try.
The Palazzo by Danielle Steel is based on a family business. Their is a little of everything in the story. The story has love, compassion, and sadness.
I loved this story about the Saverio family that ran a business that worked in leathers and were only rivaled by Hermes.. They had stores in Rome and Venice. The family lived in Rome. The parents and youngest daughter were in a boating accident. The parents died and Allegra was left to live in a wheelchair. Cosima took over the business and Allegra helped. Luca, their brother was just plain bad news; THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ to simply follow the whole story
Book regarding the Saverio family of Italy. There was a boating accident causing the death of both parents and causing the middle daughter Allegra to be in a wheelchair with a broken spine. The oldest daughter Cosima was left taking care of the two under age siblings Allegra and the only son Luca. The family was known for their exclusive leather products which was a third generation business. Cosima worked to keep the family business going with the help of a family friend/attorney Gian Battistadi San Martin. Allegra worked with and helped Cosima but Luca was a spoiled kid that felt entitled and was no help whatsoever. He caused all kinds of trouble and an amazing amount of money problems for the family and continued that way throughout the whole story. Good things started happening for Cosima and for Allegra after meeting Olivier Barnard a French businessman who was involved with a manufacturing business. Olivier had two sons Maxine (“Max”) and Basil’s. Good story and interesting characters.
What do you do when you don’t have any trips planned and need a getaway? Pick up a Danielle Steel book that is full of glitz and glamour and some intrigue as well. And you won’t even need to renew your passport!
Set in Venice and Rome, we meet Cosima, who heads up her family’s upscale leather brand and takes care of her younger siblings the best she can. Smart and beautiful, Cosima has had her hands full for many years, leaving her no time for romance. However, as she faces business and family challenges, she meets a man who understands her line of work and becomes a sounding board for her. You know where this is going, right?
Whether you are a faithful Steel reader or this is her first book that you’ve picked up, you will feel that you have had a quick trip abroad. Her descriptions are rich, and the story will keep you interested.
Round up to 3.5 stars

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Cosima's life is changed as a young adult. She cares for her siblings as best as she can and keep her families leather business afloat. Colima lived a quiet life until she net Oliver. She had no idea of the chemistry they had together. I enjoyed this book.
Palazzo is another hit for Ms. Steel! As us usual, the book was good and did not disappoint. How she manages to write as many books as she does and keep all the story lines different is pure genius. Kudos to you Ms. Steel, I look forward to reading anything you write!
LOVED Danielle Steel's latest family drama: Palazzo. This had several twists that made the story even more exciting! DS is always a favorite of mine and this one is high on the list.
Another great Danielle Steel story! This one is taking place in Italy and various locations all across the country. Danielle has used her magic to bring to life s great story with love, deceit and a happy ending. I enjoyed the quick read and cannot wait to read her next book!
Another hit from Danielle Steel with all the family drama we come to expect and love.
The Saverio family has an impeccable reputation for designing and hand crafting beautiful hand bags that are meant to be timeless. The business along with the family Palazzo has been in the family for generations. When the parents are killed in. a tragic accident, it is left to 23 year old Cosima to ensure that everything continues to run as it always has been. But, being the eldest sibling has more challenges than even Cosima may be prepared to handle and things go from bad, to worse, to devastating. Can her family keep their heritage while still moving with the times?
Lots of wonderful characters making hard decisions that parents today have to make. The plot has lots of family, friends, struggles, hard choices, and lots of different emotions. For fans of Danielle Steel, this is a must read.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Just reading about the exquisite locations described in this story are enough to inspire. It’s the account of Cosimo’s family and their generational designer handbag industry. Cosima lost her parents at a young age in a horrific accident. She’s left to raise a disabled younger sister Allegra, brother Luca, and to learn to run the business. The ancestral estate, the Palazzo Saverio, is in Venice but the main business is based in Rome, Italy. Keeping the business profitable and relevant is all Cosima has time for. Her family’s attorney, Gian, is keeping a secret no one knows about. Allegra is artistic, designs for the handbag line, but feels undervalued and her talent wasted. Cosima is steadfast in keeping traditions and history intact, not modernizing. Luca is a rebel, playboy, has never worked, lives off his allowance. He schemes and plots, gambles and is a liability. He will embarrass and cause real financial harm to the family.
It was absorbing as I followed the siblings, the industry, and the other characters through the years of growth, change, heartbreak and the atmospheric settings. I couldn’t wait to see how things developed, read it in a day. This is a moving, uplifting story with drama, trials and suffering, romance, second chances and new beginnings. I really enjoyed this lovely story by an author that can still surprise and entertain me. Read it, you won’t be disappointed!
The digital advance reader copy of “Palazzo” by Danielle Steel, published by Delacorte Press, was provided to me by NetGalley. These are all my own honest personal thoughts and opinions given voluntarily without compensation.
Honoring a legacy, Cosima Saverio watches over her leather goods company with a steadfast eye on the bottom line. Stewarding the family, a brother and sister she guards the family reputation faithfully. Her sister the only survivor of a horrendous boating accident, is chafing under the strict guidelines of the family brand. A brother who spends money faster than Cosima can make it. Added is the Palazzo that is both a testament to family glory days and a financial strain due to its constant need for repair. Cosima knows she needs to update and modernize but she is reluctant to move forward. The constant is the company it’s all she thinks about it’s all that matters. Set against the beauty of Rome and Venice a story of love and loss unfolds through the canals of Venice and the streets of Paris. Oliver like Cosima thinks only of the business. He worries over his two sons , polar opposites in every way. A chance encounter between Cosima and Oliver at a party sets the stage for drastic changes in their lives and those they hold dear. Here is a special Steele novel, one I was reluctant to finish. I wish you the same fate. Happy reading
Palazzo is quintessential Danielle Steel. I loved the settings in Italy and France, and the coming together of two high-powered fashion (handbags) families. The story was a fun escape into some of the most beautiful and exciting cities in Europe. I liked how the romances and the conflicts were resolved and how all of the characters got the endings that they deserved. Though not surprising, the ending was satisfying, which is one of the reasons I like reading a Danielle Steel book. As is also the case in the later Danielle Steel novels, she tells a lot of the story (rather than showing it) and often engages in repetition of story facts. This is not one of my favorite things about her storytelling style, but I liked the book well enough to ignore the repetition and enjoy the reading of it.
I received this advanced reader’s copy of Palazzo from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Palazzo was so good. The descriptions of the Italy locations were wonderful. It made you want to go visit. Cosimo was the older sister that was running her family's purse company after her parents are killed in a boating accident that crippled her younger sister but did not cripple her spirit of artistic talent. The story talks about how her brother won't accept any responsibility and just spends his day gambling or spending money and expects his sister to bail him out. When one of his scheme backfires hugely, he lands in prison and expects his sister to get him out of trouble. She tells him he is going to have to answer for what he did. At their final meeting, she tells him she is done with him and for a minute he is sorry. Cosimo has loved someone for a very long time, but it is someone she can't have. She and her sister finally find happiness and love and their careers take them in new directions quite successfully. A wonderful book that I got from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review
This book took me a little bit to get into, but once I did I enjoyed it. It wasn’t my favorite, but I highly recommend this book. It had romance, suspense in it.
I love it when Danielle Steel gives us suspense to read. Its defiantly will keep you turning the pages till the end. Cosima Saverio 23 years old and the oldest of three children, is happy living life to the fullest. Then tragedy strikes and her parents are killed in a tragic accident. Cosima Saverio is now the only one left to run the family’s high class couture Italian leather brand. Two takes care of her siblings. Allegra, who survived the tragic accident but with scars and a spinal injury. Luca, who has a need for wild parties, pretty women, and poker tables. Three maintain the four-hundred-year-old family palazzo in Venice. Cosima navigates her personal and professional challenges with a wisdom beyond her years, but her needs are always secondary. She’s married to the business, and her free time is given to those who rely on her. She meets Olivier Bayard, who has a very successful ready-to-wear handbag company. After the two talk on her terrace, the business turns into a tour of the Saverio workshop, and Cosima has found a person she can talk to with all her secretes, Then Luca loses a lot of money at the casino, and his debt must be paid, or his life is at risk. Cosima bails him out but is given an impossible choice: List the palazzo, sell a third of the family business, or let Luca fend for himself.
I"m saddened by this b/c I'm a big fan of Danielle Steel but this one just didn't do it for me. I was bored by the story and the characters, but this won't stop me from continuing reading from her.
I have been a fan of Danielle Steel for a long time. Her books rarely disappoint. This story takes place in beautiful, historic Italy and Paris. Cosima Saverio inherits her family's Italian leather company.at the age of 23. Since she is the oldest sibling, she takes on the job of mothering a disabled sister and a younger brother along with running their business. As with most Danielle Steel books, there is a strong female character with romance involved. A very enjoyable read.
