I love a good love story. I even love it when a historical romance book takes me on a fantastic adventure of mystery romance and passion. Barrymore was wonderful. He was truly a handsome gentleman. Amelia eventually came to see through his ways. It was the romance and passion that won out for her. The book was fantastic and quite entertaining.

Enter the world of the most notorious gambling den in London, where matches are made... unusually. Welcome to the world of THE LYON'S DEN: The Black Widow of Whitehall Connected World, where the underground of Regency London thrives... and loves.
If you haven’t read any of the books in The Lyon’s Den interconnected world get ready to enjoy a unique romance set in the Regency era but TOTALLY unlike a typical Regency book. Think of these books as “the marriage-mart gone rogue” and get ready for shenanigans and happily ever afters.
I found this story to be entertaining with likable characters and an intriguing plot. The story moves along at a steady pace and the ending ties up all the loose ends nicely, leaving the reader satisfied. I would gladly read more books from this author.

I am yet to complete the read. Starting off well, As a Laura Trentham fan I am
Looking forward to to reading the book

This is the first book by Laura Trentham I have read, and I can't wait to read more by this author.
I love the Lyon's Den stories and Laura gave this story a nice twist. There are great characters and a good story line. We usually do not see a Vicar that is also a spy. It made me keep reading and I finished it in one sitting.
The Lyons world wide series by different authors are amazing. Wonderful read and plots.

The Lyon's Den books are always such fun to read. Josiah is a vicar in hiding. In reality, he is a spy for the Crown. When he is summoned by Mrs Dove-Lyon, he is wary but curious. He comes to learn that she wants him to marry Amelia, the sister of his deceased best friend. Feeling a sense of protectiveness towards her, he agrees. Amelia has always had a crush on him as a young girl. She doesn't want to be controlled by him, bit she also needs his protection.
Another wonderful addition to the series! Josiah and Amelia were formidable pair, with strong chemistry, and I enjoyed seeing them together. Although a short story, it had intrigue and drama and kept my interest till the end. An enjoyable read!
I received a complimentary copy from Dragonblade Publishing via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Part of the Lyon's Den Connected World series, another great story in this series. This is one series I want to read from beginning to end when it is finished. This is Mr. Josiah Barrymore a vicar and Miss Amelia Fielding who are brought together by Mrs. Dove-Lyon at the Black Widow of Whitehall. They marry right away to keep her save. The story is well written with a very good storyline that kept me turning pages. There is secrets, suspense, drama, spies, twists, turns and love. The story was well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Lyon’s Secret by Laura Trentham is a good read, but the fact of childhood friends meeting again through Mrs. Dove-Lyon is showing wear. In this case the intended groom is Josiah Barrymore, who is a spy, disguised as a vicar. Miss Amelia Fielding is the sister of his dead compatriot. Now she is in danger, from her other brother of all people. Mrs. Dove-Lyon convinces him to help as did Amelia when he met her. The attraction in instant. He remembered her from when she was a child, but my, how she’d grown. They married right then and there with Mrs. Dove-Lyon’s payment to be a favor in the future. When the got back to the vicarage, Josiah’s housekeeper was disapproving. Amelia had no idea why but she was soon to discover the roots of the disapproval.
This was a decent story and Amelia was no dummy. She figured out what was going on in the household almost immediately, by accident. But, she knew how to handle the information innately. Josiah started off his marriage with both a satisfying physical relationship, but also a partner in his nefarious dealings. This was a woman who could think on her feet. We forget that espionage and traitors are not limited to the Twentieth Century. The plot was convoluted but interesting, especially some of the subplots and twists and turns. The characters were both well-written and perfect for one another. It was a good book.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of The Lyon’s Secret by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #LauraTrentham #TheLyonsSecret

This was a short but intense story from the Lyon's Den series that I read in one sitting. When Josiah Barrymore left the army after the war, he became the vicar in a small village near London. There, he receives a message from the notorious Black Widow, Mrs. Dove-Lyon of the Lyon's Den, summoning him to see her. He's shocked when she tells him that the younger sister of his deceased best friend, Daniel, is in trouble and needs his protection.
Amelia is alone in the world except for her profligate younger brother. James is determined to get Amelia's inheritance and has tried to marry her to one of his friends to do so. Desperate to escape that fate, Amelia goes to her mother's old friend, Mrs. Dove-Lyon, willing to do anything required. The last thing she expects is to have her arrange a marriage to Daniel's friend and her girlhood crush.
Josiah is resigned to his fate until he sees Amelia again for the first time in many years. He's stunned by the changes in her and overcome by her beauty and his immediate attraction to her. He's no longer reluctant to marry her, despite the complications she will cause. After a few days in the Lyon's Den, Amelia is no longer quite as innocent as she used to be and recognizes the feelings he stirs in her. Marriage to him will be no hardship as long as she can adjust to being a vicar's wife.
The chemistry between Josiah and Amelia is explosive. Thanks to their previous meeting and correspondence after Daniel's death, there is already a connection between them. But Josiah has a secret and is unsure whether he can trust her. That worry goes by the wayside when Amelia stumbles upon that secret and shows she has the intelligence and courage to handle whatever comes her way. The intrigue and danger of Josiah's other calling added an extra layer of intensity to the story. They boosted the rapid realization of their feelings for each other. I liked the epilogue and the surprise sent to them by Mrs. Dove-Lyon.

❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋💋
My first from this author, but not of this series, and I do enjoy my Lyon’s.
A good story and characters that I must say were all very enjoyable to lean about, I can see a spin of series in the future from some of them.
Good plot and execution of the story, it kept me reading and interested throughout.
I will have no problems reading more of Laura’s in the future.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

The Vicar's Secret
Mrs. Dove-Lyon summons Josiah because she needs his help. Vicars do not usually go to gaming dens, but Josiah is not your run-of-the-mill vicar. He is a man with a dangerous secret. When he arrives at the gaming hell, he finds Amelia, his late best friend's sister, a woman who does not belong at the Lyon's Den. Mrs. Dove-Lyon proposes they marry, but Josiah's secret makes him hesitate. Just exactly, what is he hiding? Secrets cannot remain hidden for long. What happens when Amelia discovers the truth?
This was the first book I read by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend it to lovers of steamy Regency romance with mystery, treachery, and intrigue. I look forward to reading what this author writes next.

This is Amelia and Josiah's story. Part of the Lyon's Den multi author series.
Amelia is all alone and in need of protection. Her parents are gone and her brother died in the war. Her other brother turned into a wastrel and is trying to steal her inheritance, even by trying to force her to marry his associates.
Mrs. Dove-Lyon asks Vicar Josiah, who was best friends with her brother who passed in the war to step foreword and marry her. His bishop wants to see him married and settled.
Josiah is surprised to see that Amelia is a woman grown now and very attractive. So now he has to convince the stubborn woman that he truly wants her!
This is a great story of two people who have changed due to their circumstances, but in some way still have hearts 💛 that are full to share! What they have grown into is good for each other.

When her brother tries to get his hands on her inheritance, Amelia Fielding comes to Bessie Dove-Lyon for help. She offers to do whatever job Mrs. Dove-Lyon gives her, including working upstairs. The Black Widow has a better option. Josiah Barrymore doesn’t know what to expect when he is summon to the Lyon’s Den. He arrives to find she wishes him to marry Amelia, the sister of his deceased best friend. Amelia doesn’t expect much adventure or excitement married to a vicar, but Josiah isn’t just an ordinary vicar. He has a secret that could mean danger to both of them. This is a fairly quick read but is filled with drama, danger, intrigue, adventure, and a sizzling romance. Josiah and Amelia are intelligent, strong characters who fit together perfectly from the start. Another enjoyable visit to the Lyon’s Den.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily reviewing it.

Vicar Barrymore was asked to come to the Lyon's Den of which he had no idea what he was there for. His best friend's sister is needing his help. Daniel died in the war and the younger brother is trying to marry her off to one of his friends so they can get what little she has that they can get from her. Mrs Dove-Lyon was a friend of her mother's and she told her to go to her if she needed help.
Amelia has always been a little in love with Josiah and she finally decides there is no help for it she must marry him. They are married before they leave. Josiah has a job he does for the government and Amelia finds out about it and is willing to help him. Thank you NetGalley for an interesting read.

Great story, characters and chemistry between Josiah and Amelia. Desire and danger lead to love in this captivating romance belonging to the Lyon's Den connected world.

As a vicar Josiah Barrymore doesn't expect to be summoned to The Lyons Den. The woman who runs it has a way of finding people's secrets.
Amelia Fielding needs protection from her unscrupulous brother.
This is historical romance novella set in the Lyon's Den world. Our devious widow is actually helping someone without financial benefit for herself.
There is more adventure and danger in this than you might expect. A little steamy with lovely characters.
Good fun.

Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon certainly knows how to upend one's life, as the Reverend Josiah Barrymore discovers when she presents his late best friend's sister as a marriage prospect. It's that, or Miss Amelia Fielding could find herself earning her living in a way that is appalling to Josiah. Amelia has had too many losses, one of which was the loss of Josiah's friendship when he sold his commission from the military. However, her wastrel brother's attempts to get his hands on what inheritance she has, forces Amelia to consider the Black Widow's solution. Little does she realize that she is going to be jumping from the frying pan and into the fire when Josiah receives midnight visitors. Although a fairly short novella, there is nevertheless adventure, suspense, and ultimately the realization that Josiah's new wife is perfect for him. This romance, a copy of which I received as a gift from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley, is a standalone and comes to a good conclusion. I enjoyed the book as it is well-written and intriguing and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This short story is chef’s kiss fantastic. I also like the ties to the Spies and Lovers series. I kept thinking how I would love a vicar like Josiah. He was the all around package. Amelia’s strong countenance was the perfect match for Josiah. This story has it all - a little bit suspense and a little bit sexy. Wish I could have read more of their story because the characters are amazing.

When Mr. Josiah Barrymore is summoned by the Black Widow of Whitehall, he can’t contain his curiosity and trepidation. After all, Mrs. Dove-Lyon is the owner of a notorious gaming hell in London, and he is a vicar, albeit one with a secret. When she produces Amelia the sister of his dead best friend, Daniel he is shocked. In desperation, Miss Amelia Fielding arrives on Mrs. Dove-Lyon doorstep seeking help. What she receives is unexpected. When a mutually beneficial marriage is proposed between Amelia and Josiah by Mrs. Dove-Lyon, Amelia is torn.
Another very good addition to this connected series. I loved both Josiah & Amelia, he’s more than just a vicar & she’s no shrinking violet together they are formidable. A quick read but it didn’t feel rushed, the characters had depth & there was intrigue plus two people made for each other whose attraction was there from the start , their chemistry sizzled & before they knew it they were falling in love. I read it in a sitting
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This is the first time I have read Laura Trentham books, she has a writing style that I thoroughly enjoyed, she's filled the story with unexpected twists that holds your full attention to the very end, characters that come off the pages and pull you into their tale, a story that is well-written, with passion, and enjoyable plot.
