This Audiobook of wet hot allosaurus summer, was fun ! All smut little plot in my opinion. I enjoyed listening to this. I found myself laughing and loving the world building. It just happened so fast (only reason I didn’t give it 4stars) by chapter 1 we were deep in! If you get what I mean!! My first dinosaur romance and it won’t be my last.
Thank you so much Netgalley for the audiobook version of this book.
MY GOD DID I NOT FINISH THIS CAUSE BIG AL ATE HER ARM OFF. You heard hat correctly.
My own inner narrator has absolutely nothing on Katrina Medina. I’m not much of an audio book person due to pacing, but this was no trouble at all. Hearing a voice connected to Big Al made all the difference. Thank you so much for this amazing piece of history.
This book is hilarious! I love it for everything that it is and grateful for being able to read it! My friends and I did a buddy read of this after seeing it on booktok! Seriously if you want a funny short read, this is the book for you! I've read this book aloud to my friends and have shared it with others. It is a great laugh and I am SO happy to see it got an audio book!!! <3
SPOILERS: I gotta say when Big Al ate her arm and then went and made love to a redhead upon arriving at the safe haven, that was HILARIOUS!!!! My favorite parts!!
Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for this ALC!! This is a voluntary review!
WHY DID I DO THIS TO MYSELF.
NO.
1 STAR. 2 STARS. 3 STARS.
This had no business being as amusing as it was.
** spoiler alert **
I don’t think there was anything about this that I loved. Usually with monster romances there’s some plot line that makes it plausible for the creature to exist or be there. We got absolutely no world building, no set up, to explanations for anything. No character development. The spice wasn’t even spicin’!! The writing was cheesy (barbecue breath, cylinder of love, etc.) that made it kind of campy…but it still wasn’t enough for me to like it as a campy book.
He did it with her and then she offered up her arm (that had been shot) as an offering to him because he was hungry. The smut was pretty vague, just a lot of colorful words. There was a whole telepathy thing going on that I thought was cool and convenient. They bounced from place to place, it was so chaotic. What kind of ritual was happening?! What was the purpose of it? We never got to really know. Our MCs bounced so fast.
This is one of those books that you pick up to read ironically. I guess it was fun and had the shock factor of “what in the actual f is happening?!”. I kind of love that I hated it so much.
That said, the audiobook was decent. The narrator did a fantastic job nonetheless.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing the audiobook. This is my honest review.
I was not able to finish this book.. it was too much.. too much of everything. From the way she called it Al to her thinking about what it was going to do to her and does to her.. no this was not for me at all. I got this thinking it would be more funny than actual ew.
This was definitely something different. I’ve learnt some new dinosaur facts. And kudos to the narrator for the performance 💯
What in the ever loving dinosaur world did I just listen to? Look no shame to anyone that enjoys this sort of romance, but this one just wasn’t for me. I mean the dinosaur eats the girls arm off after being shot by her father. The dinosaur cheats on the girl and she cheats back.. This book was very much on a level I am not familiar with. Does it have a plot? Sort of. Does it have smut?? Absolutely. I wouldn’t say I absolutely hated this book- no. It made me giggle and gave me a lot of WTF moments. I think this is not the right genre for me.
He ATE her ARM off 🦖
“There was something deathly sexy about watching Big Al consume a part of her like a tasty, meaty protein bar…”
Like. EXCUSE ME ??
But I will say it was wet. There were a lot of fluids. Coming from places the heroine didn’t know existed.
Was it hot? No. Everything smelled like fish beer and smoke ??? Just the wording in this book is nasty and they met a lot of nasty people. Lots of stale spunk.
Things I’ll never be able to forget:
Exhibit A: Meaty sauna of his breath
Exhibit B: A glorious and primordial stink
Exhibit C (????): Green sheathed ears of corn blushed out from the stalks like hard, uncircumcised penises
Exhibit D: He folded her over forward like his own savory little tortilla
Exhibit E: Big Al’s cylinder of love
Exhibit F: Heady fish and flower scent
Also. WHY WAS HE NAMED BIG AL. WHAT A HORRID NAME. DROP HIM OFF AT AL’S TOY BARN.
Lastly, you’re telling me a dinosaur was HAPPY to see a METEOR???
The narrator did surprisingly good voices, but when I had my AirPod Pros in, you could hear her take a sharp inhale after each sentence and my body severely rejected the sound.
I've got to thank Freida McFadden for raising my awareness of Dinosaur Erotica...
I didn't know it existed, didn't know it was an emerging genre, or that Lola Faust is the goto Dino Smut author. Freida posted an April Fool's joke announcing her next novel would be The T-Rex At My Window, cue Googling and seeing Lola Faust's array of titles with very arresting cover artwork.
Honestly, I was only mildly curious to read one, but the opportunity to listen to an Audiobook for review proved too big a temptation.
Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer features Tanis, a seventeen year old farm girl in a world where dinosaurs work for and alongside humans. Advances in technology allow them to communicate. One thing leads to another and Big Al the Allosaurus and Tanis run away together.
There's sex, passionate dinosaur / human sex, it gets pretty wild at times, a lot of the time. I don't read erotica, not sure how to describe it in a review, but I don't think postcoital bloodlust from a carnivorous dinosaur is too common.
There's a surprisingly well developed story, as Tanis and Big Al learn more about each other, about each other's species and try to find a way to live and love in a world that still frowns on interspecies relationships.
There's some good geeky dinosaur detail too, Lola Faust is a Paleontology academic by day.
It was a fun listen, the narration was good. Would I read or listen to another? I'm not sure, I wouldn't rule it out.
Am I glad that such bizarre entertainment exists? Yes, I am.
All of Lola Faust's Dinosaur Erotica titles are included with kindle unlimited.
Thanks to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial Audio
Did I download this purely for comedic relief? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely it was.
It’s super short with fantastic narration. I enjoy these “out there” erotica stories - dinosaurs this time - since it doesn’t have to even try to be realistic to be good - I mean, it is monster porn after all.
Am I also on team “what have done with my life that has lead me to this moment?” … yes I certainly am. In reality though, this is hilarious and it’s 100% worth a listen. It definitely fits into the category of erotica and shouldn’t be anywhere else. This is definitely Dinosaur Erotica - it’s not super well written, but it’s well enough to be readable (listenable?). If you like other books in this realm I’d think you’d enjoy this one too.

All I can say is I had a damn good time, it's truly.difficult to even review because no I didn't take this as some.serious piece of literature but it did exactly what it was supposed to, entertain
I saw it, I was curious, and I indeed feel properly chastised by my listening experience. The narrator, Katrina Medina, deserves a medal.
Here are my favorite parts:
-“He folded her forward like a savory tortilla”
-Big Al (named such because he’s an allosaurus) has honkytonk Elvis hair
-Human/dinosaur love commune that pops up for like 20 pages max
-Big Al is a fan of Shakespeare
-Dinosaur visa and dinosaur social security number
-Big Al in a suit for his meeting with venture capitalists for a $35 mil deal
Thank you NetGallery!
The audio book wasn’t my favorite, at times I had no clue what some of the characters were saying. And the narration seemed so low. But overall the story was ok, not what I expected but not in a good way.
Maybe not for me this book ,I can't for the life of me understand why I decided to download it . I'm sure that other people may enjoy it but I guess it's not my genre
Past me made some questionable decisions picking this to read.
Overall this book is just what you think it will be, a banana pants erotica about a girl and a dinosaur. It just however fell off. The age of the main character was ick and then just how every other person was creepy and weird in this book.

I am having trouble with how to write this review. This book was ridiculously entertaining and insane. The story wasn’t great lol it’s truly a dinosaur erotïca book, but the narrator did a good job and the words the author used made me laugh more times than I can count. The story was well written despite the plot not being there. The fact that the dinosaurs name is Big Al was the first thing that made me crack up and then when Tanis described his smell I was howling. It was absurd and entertaining.
Would I recommend the book? Probably not. But if someone was looking for a ridiculously hilarious story about a human girl falling in love with a dinosaur with fisting, infidelity, and many other things -then this is for you LOL.
The narrator did a great job with the story, I can’t believe she wasn’t chuckling the whole time she read the story lol.
Welp, I'm not sure what to say about this book. I haven't read monster romance before and shock factor is real lol. That said it's very creative and obviously spicy. Some of the transitions weren't very clear. I had to rewind a couple times to sort it out. But as far as the trope (monster romance) goes, I think it's a entertaining book.
Nope. I can’t do a 17 year old FMC in an erotic story. I was hoping this would be a funny entertaining time like some monster romance, but I felt like it took itself too seriously.
