I love anything by Sue Watson and this book was no exception. Truly fantastic! I had no idea where this book was going or how it would end. I read it in one day; I had to see how everything played out, who was good and who was bad. Wow! Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Wedding Day by Sue Watson is a WILD read. It is definitely one of those books where you have no idea what is going on. I didn't really like any of the characters which only confused me more on who was the "bad guy" Alice irritated me and there were red flags from the beginning with her. Nik seems like a good guy but then suddenly he changes. I couldn't trust anyone! I had NO IDEA about the reveal and it was definitely satisfying. It's definitely a 5 star read for me! Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and Sue Watson for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to #NetGalley, Sue Watson and #Bookouture for the opportunity to read THE WEDDING DAY, to be published 17 May 2023. WOW — I’m amazed after reading this psychological thriller at the intricacies and detail put in to trick the reader into believing in the wrong people! Excellent read. Very intriguing and well thought out plot. I realized the characters I initially hated were actually quite congenial and those I trusted were not worthy at all! 5/5 Stars. #NetGalley. #SueWatson. #Bookouture
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the copy of The Wedding Day by Sue Watson. At first I was confused because the book didn’t seem to have any relation to the description. In fact the description turned out to be a tiny spoiler. Alice is either really gullible, desperate, or stupid to not see the obvious red flags that were all over the place in the beginning. Whatever the reason, it made her a really unsympathetic character, so I didn’t really care about her.
If you love twists, you will love this book! A couple of them came completely out of nowhere which was disappointing, but others were really well done. What started out to be a mediocre book was saved by the reveals and twists. I just wish the rest of the book had been as clever. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
The Wedding Day is another amazing read by Sue Watson all her books are fantastic. This thriller had me speechless with all its twists and turns.
Alice leaves her sister and nieces, and escapes to hide in Corfu after an altercation with her ex-husband. She quickly makes a best friend and a handsome fiancé. Alice has also been reading about all the missing girls who went missing from Corfu she soon becomes obsessed with finding out what happened to them.
I thought I knew how this was going to end but I was so wrong the ending had me gobsmacked. This was a excellent psychological thriller which I would recommend to anyone who loves a rollercoaster of a read.
Gulped down in one sitting! As a bride-to-be, I have been hoovering up wedding-related fiction. This certainly didn't disappoint, and has resulted in me adding masses more Sue Watsons to my TBR pile. I enjoy fiction that's like a jigsaw puzzle: you don't see all the pieces until the twist (and not even the full picture then), and in this case not having the lid to the jigsaw puzzle box to see that picture made for a very satisfying and thrilling read.
After an altercation with her ex husband and his girlfriend which ended poorly, (with her ex badly injured) Alice decides to escape to the Greek Island of Corfu in hopes of avoiding the aftermath and starting her life over. Soon after arriving, while dining at a cafe, she meets a group of people including a lovely woman named Sylvie, a beautiful but unfriendly Angelina, and the dashing Nik Kouris. At this time, Alice also becomes aware of a rash of disappearances of young women on the Island which has her intrigued but also weary of her new friends. Flattered by Nik’s attention, Alice soon finds herself becoming romantically involved with the Corfu native and invested in a future on the Island. As the story progresses, all definitely isn’t as it seems and she learns some things are too good to be true.
This story dragged a bit in the middle, and seemed to be on a predictable path. However, a huge twist came towards the end of the novel that I definitely did not see coming. The ending saved the story for me and left the novel with a satisfying finish.
“The Wedding Day” is a thriller by Sue Watson. Ms. Watson’s books always have some twist that takes an odd turn that I didn’t see coming … and this one was no exception. I found this book to be, strangely, one of the more difficult ones for me to get into. The main character, Alice, suffers from PTSD - there’s an investigation going on, and she flees to the Greek island of Corfu. While on Corfu, she makes a new friend and, eventually, marries someone on the island. That’s about where things became interesting for me. So often I wanted to shake Alice by the shoulders at her lack of “red flag” awareness. I also found the ending a bit off and the bit about one of the victims also off. Maybe it was me, maybe it was that I wasn’t vibing with this book - but the one just didn’t work for me. I’ve read a number of books by Ms. Watson and I can see others enjoying this one, but so many red flags … so obvious … I’ll just leave it there.
I'm sad that I didn't like this, but pleased to see that I'm in the minority! I'm a big fan of the author, but this book just wasn't for me sadly. I found the writing style to be strangely detached, and couldn't empathise with the decisions the main character made throughout. I guessed the twists ahead of time and thought there would be more to it to perhaps explain the way parts of the book were written (I thought at the beginning that Alice's sister might be dead because her interactions with her read really strangely). Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this book, but I really would recommend some of Sue Watson's other titles such as The Sister in Law and The Forever Home.
The Wedding Day is another incredible read by Sue Watson! This thriller will leave you speechless with all its twists and turns. Alice leaves her sister and nieces, and escapes to hide in Corfu after an altercation with her ex-husband. She quickly acquires a best friend and a wealthy, charming handsome fiancé, Nik. She is happy beyond her wildest dreams, yet she is also plagued with sadness and an overwhelming concern for all the girls in Corfu who have disappeared without a trace. As a reader, you may think you know what is happening, however that will be flipped on its head more than once. The characters are well described and the scenery is lovely. The Wedding Day is a suspenseful and compelling novel!
With thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. My opinions are my own.

Alice's life is at a standstill. She wasn't able to conceive a child with her husband Dan, and the stress caused their split. She's been drinking to numb the pain, but a chance meeting at a grocery store to buy more wine sends Alice spiraling out of control. She sees Dan with his new partner, and to her shock and horror, she is pregnant. Alice blacks out and Dan ends up injured. Terrified of the repercussions, she flees to Corfu against the advice of her older sister.
I loved the vivid descriptions of this Greek island, but I found the characters to be a little one dimensional and I was annoyed at all the red flags that Alice ignored; however, in Sue Watson's signature style, she creates a complex, layered plot that will have you guessing about everyone and everything. Who exactly can Alice trust?
This was a 3.5 star rounded up to 4 for me. Although I had minor issues with the characters, the lush setting and air of deceit that permeated the plot made up for it. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the early read. THE WEDDING DAY will publish May 17, 2023.
This was def one of her better books. Some of her books have been great and some have been kind of boring. Alice basically flees to a Greek Island after she attacks her ex-husband in a store. She meets some new friends, gets a job, and ends up married. Meanwhile, Alice becomes obsessed with all the missing women posters on the island. While I felt it was predictable who was behind it all; it was not predictable at all some of the connections made toward the end of this book. I did think it was a little long in the middle as well. We could have cut out a few chapters of just bumming around the island. overall, good book!
Overall, this book was not for me. I didn’t connect with the main character, and the plot felt like a series of unconnected events.
Am a big fan of this author and always look forward to her books and to see what she has brought to the book world this time
I was not disappointed….we find ourselves in the beautiful island of Corfu ( you can almost smell the lemon scented air in the breeze ) where Alice has ‘found’ herself after a harrowing time in Tesco’s ( saying no more on that ) and basically her life goes from bad to good to great to abysmal all in a short time…..
I thought I had guessed the crux of the story but it turns out I was miles away in certain things and I LOVED that, a real surprise ending is always a great bonus to a fantatsic read….and that’s what this is, a real psychological/drama/family/relationship thriller of a book
Well written, full of suspense and very very enjoyable

Another brilliant book from this author as usual, fast paced with good interesting characters. I was kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end, and what an ending, everything brought together for a satisfactory conclusion, just brilliant writing.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending, 5+ stars from me.
Sue Watson's writing style is that there is always one of many twists that you did not see coming. However, this time it was too obvious. One of the biggest twists, I guessed it right away. Perhaps she wrote the villain in a way that is not believable. Also, Alice is the most annoying character that Sue came up with. Nobody can have such a blind eye, even though all the red flags are waving right in front of her face. Perhaps, it was her past that was giving her that rose-tinted glasses veil. Alice's past was not revealed until the end, and I thought that also played a big part in her characters' development that was missing. Overall, it was still a good book to read, but not one of Sue Watson's best.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for letting me read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks so much to Netgalley.co.uk and the author Sue Watson for an advanced copy of 'The Wedding Day' due to be released in May in exchange for an honest review.
I've read a few of Sue Watsons other books and really enjoyed them and this one was no different.
A really enjoyable read.
It was fast paced and I raced through it from the first page. I had the whole book read in one sitting. It was full of twists and turns. My fav kind of thriller read. Would be a great beach or summer read for on holidays. Nothing too taxing, just a light grippy thriller.
I'll defo be recommending this one and already looking forward to seeing what the author comes up with next.

This was a great page turning psychological thriller. This book had lots of twists and turns and shocks which kept the reader on the toes while reading
This book makes you also feel that you can’t trust anyone and that how people are on the outside doesn’t always portray what they are like on the inside and how we should keep on our toes and question everyone and everything around you.
This would make a great tv dramatisation.
I have never read a book by Sue Watson before but wow what can I say. It was fast paced and had twists and turns right until the end.
The story is based on Alice and her escape to Corfu and then her marriage to Nik. I didn’t know what characters to trust right until the end which I thought was brilliant as sometimes I figure out the plot of a book quite early on.
I would definitely recommend this book as a great summer thriller.
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Sue Watson for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Hair Pin Twists..
Alice, left reeling following a tumultuous relationship, flees to Corfu. Whilst she meets, seemingly, the man of her dreams she also becomes consumed with issues that some may consider should not concern her. Alice may well be on dangerous ground but becomes swept up in marriage preparations and the big day itself - however, all is not as it seems. Who can be trusted? A swiftly paced, psychological suspense with a deftly drawn and credible cast and a plot populated with hair pin twists and turns. Tension fuelled and compelling.
