What a great read for a rainy day when all I wanted to do was keep reading. There were so many strands to this story that were cleverly brought together at the end. A five star plus read for me.
My Review:
Loved!!!!! Like always Sue Watson delivered a great read. I picked up one of her books years ago and I couldn’t be happier that I did. She is now one of my favorite authors and this book definitely proved why. She is also one of the nicest. A quick little story about this wonderful author. A while back she personally messaged me and told me thank you for all the support I have given her books over the years and how much she appreciated it. She even went as far as to send me a signed copy of one of her books of my choosing. We didn’t know each other personally or even lived in the same country. I can’t tell you how much her generosity meant to me. It was honestly one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Thank you Sue Watson for being one of the good ones. Now back to the book that I enjoyed reading so much. First off let me say OMG on the imagery in this one. I really felt like I was right there with all the characters living this magnificent dream life. I was starting to get very jealous until the middle of this book and then I started to feel something was very off with this perfect picture. Oh boy was I right too and by the end of this one I didn’t know what to think anymore. All I knew was that I was left shocked and speechless. That ending was fabulous and such a roller coaster ride of emotions for me. After it I knew I should not trust anyone and that everyone has secrets to hide. Also, it was what made this book so spectacular. Sue Watson I can’t wait for your next book. It can’t come fast enough for me.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Alice is in a rut. She drinks to numb the pain of loss and to cope with the emotional scars left after her split from Dan. But seeing Dan happy with his pregnant girlfriend tips Alice over the edge. She blacks out and Dan gets hurt, forcing a terrified Alice to flee to Corfu to not only evade the police, but to uncover the truth of her past.
Here she befriends a group of girls, each of them strange in their own way but it’s through one in particular that Alice meets Nik, an older, charming man who she falls for. But on their wedding day, Alice learns that not all marriages are about love and promises. Sometimes they’re about money and murder.
Okay, let me just start with ‘what the hell?’… This is why I love Sue Watson because I didn’t know who to trust or who to believe AT ALL! I thought I had it all figured out, only to be slapped in the face with another twist. In one chapter I’d be frustrated with Alice ignoring all the red flags where Nik was concerned, only to feel sorry for her in the next. Don’t get me started on Angelina, ugh. I just couldn’t forgive her, even at the end. And as for Dimitris, I wanted to shed tears when the whole truth came out. Like, damn this rollercoaster of emotions!
BUT while it was full of the tension and mystery that comes with psych thrillers, it was also quite thought provoking. This story also highlights the devastating effects on the loved ones left behind when someone disappears without a trace and not knowing what happened to them.
This book is a good thriller, maybe a little far fetched at times but I did enjoy it. The main character is Alice who at times I felt annoyed with but most of the time had a lot of sympathy for. The subject matter of the book is disturbing and unfortunately real. I recommend this book and look forward to Sue Watson's next book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher and Sue Watson for a chance to read this amazing book!! I love all of Sue Watson's books and I will continue to read them as long as she keeps writing them. This was an awesome, twisty thriller with a shocking ending!!
The blushing bride. The handsome groom. A secret one of them will kill for. Just when you think you know where this book is going, the author puts in another twist that will keep you guessing. A pacy thriller full of twists and turns that will keep you hooked from start to end. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
Alice isn’t coping well after her divorce. When she sees her ex husband and his very pregnant new partner, it is the last straw. She flees the UK for Corfu. Once there she makes friends with the glamorous Sylvie, a wedding planner with expensive tastes. She also meets Nik, a vineyard owner. She falls head first in love and is soon engaged. Alice’s sister, is suspicious, but the sisters are big true crime enthusiasts. Alice can’t help looking into the disappearances of women on the island.
This book was great. I had no idea who I should trust. And just when I thought I’d figured it all out, BOOM, a massive twist.
You gotta love a Sue Watson drama.
A well written tale that keeps the reader on there toe's.
The main character makes a number of strange choice's. She is concerned about woman going missing and yet does the opposite to what most of us would do?
This story will keep you guessing about who is who right up until the very end.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
This a great book to pack for your summer getaway! This thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat with its unexpected twists and turns. You'll feel like you're in the middle of the action as you follow Alice in this sun-soaked location. The story is fast-paced and engaging, with just the right amount of detail to make you wonder what's coming next.
Firstly I would like to thank Bookoture and the author Sue Watson for access to the wedding day.
The review I am going to make is an honest review regardless of the access I received for this book. It should be noted I was not paid for this review and ensure honesty in all my reviews.
Alice is marrying nik but on her wedding day everything feels wrong and she starts to think has she made the right decision.
This is a very twisty and turny book that had suspense - if a guessable ending.
Pow pow pow and the punches keep coming!!!
Wooooh this book was amazing. You kinda think you know but do you really know? So many twists right up until the last turn of the page.
A physiological thriller at its very best.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.
Alice flees to Corfu after an altercation with her ex husband. Her sister keeps calling her to return to face the music.
There are posters of missing women everywhere, and Alice wonders what has happened to them. Someone must know something.
She marries Nik, whom she has known only a few months, but something is off.
A tense and riveting novel. Sue Watson does not disappoint. I did have the right suspect though. Very twisty and some of the characters were misleading. I don't want to say too much so as not to spoil the novel for anyone!
Very suspenseful, and I do recommend.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately I'm DNF'ing this book. I read up to chapter 15 and 32% in. This writing style is just not for me and the story doesn't grab me in the slightest. I was really hoping to enjoy it but I know other readers out there will!
I believe the hype and other great reviews, I'm just not the audience.
Another great book she has written, brilliant from the very first page until the very end, a must read of 2023
Just love this author…..It’s amazing I was blown away by all the secrets and twists that kept coming… The ending completely blew me away. I raced through the pages as fast as I could a dark and tense read, of which the author had no problem pulling me into the story and keeping me there. There are some nice little twists that gives the reader bursts of adrenaline rushes as they take them in. Highly recommended. Can’t wait for sues next book!
This is a cannot put down novel written by a talented author. This book would make a great movie. Red herrings and secrets kept me guessing. I did discern some of the ending but not all. Surprises…this book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. The story is maybe happening often, and this author has written about what might happen. What could happen…I hope there is a book two.
Well this was something!! At times I didn’t know what I was reading, and it certainly left me guessing! I loved it and have recommended it to my friends!
Sometimes people you love can get really on your nerves. They check up on you, they want you to do as they tell to do, they worry about every little thing and they constantly want to know where you are and what you are doing. Arrggh! You just want to live your life. Is something wrong with that? Why can't they just leave you alone and deal with things in your own time and in your own way. The answer is simple: they love you from the bottom of your heart and they have your best interests at heart. So they worry and you, at that moment, can only see it as meddling...
This means you start looking for people who support you in what you want to do. Those who offer you a new life filled with friendship and love. This is what you want. This is how you want to be treated.
Sometimes it feels like you have become part of a dream. Sometimes though you find yourself in the middle of a nightmare...
I thoroughly enjoyed this story where I did put two and two together and actually came up with four, but where the author kept quite some details hidden until the bitter end in order to make my mouth fall open. 5 stars.
Thank you
Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
Alice, main charcter got on my nerves. As I read the book, I do find out why she acts the way she does, but I still couldn't like her.
It took me awhile to get into the book and I felt like it never really kept me on the edge of my seat. It was kind of obvious what the ending was going to be like. There was maybe 1 or 2 things that took me by surprise at the end. I still enjoyed the book though and it was interesting.
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
