Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read this year.
This book is about friends with secrets going camping. Very good start to finish.
4 stars
An innocent time with friends set around the campfire.. Well, it all kicks off from there and the pace never lets up. I love a good story which starts innocently and then ramps up. This was a good twisty thriller with lots of secrets to spill and i enjoyed finding them out!
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
This thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat and I was hooked from the beginning to the very end!! This was so good!!

Loved this book. Didn’t guess the ending!
Friends from college Charlotte, Tristan, Jack, Stella and Annie get together for a holiday to celebrate Annie’s daughter Rose’s 18th Birthday along with Jack’s new wife Kelly, his son Ollie, Tristan and Charlotte’s son Theo and Stella’s fiancé Nate. Tensions between the group from the past and the present are bubbling away under the surface and when one of the group is found dead you are left wondering which of the others could be responsible as they all have motives.
Really well written from different POV’s which weave together to tell the story.
Thanks to netgalley for the copy.
Normally, detective type books are not my go to. However, this book was delightfully good.
The ending had so many twists. Not to give away anything, but one of the people who died at the end, was such a twist and something I’ve never read. It just gave the genre a bit of uniqueness.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. It was a good one!
I must admit that this is the best psychological thriller I have read so far. This book is about friends (with secrets) going camping after a long time and as the secrets start to spill, everything changes drastically.
This book is interesting from the beginning. Though it is written from the perspective of different people it is easy to understand what is happening. I wasn't able to guess the killer this time, though the pages turn fast the ending has multiple twists that was unexpected in a lot of ways. This book clearly explains that though a person may look the same over the years, the person could be facing a lot of battles at the same time. Overall, it was a fantastic read and is recommended to all those who enjoy mystery and psychological thrillers.
I thank Netgalley for the ARC of this book!
Amy Sheppard is an auto buy thriller author for me! This is my third title by her and I love her writing. She writes thrillers that have you on the edge of your seat. I was so invested in the characters and the plot and loved watching it all unfold.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the read and review of #TheLastHoliday by #AmySheppard. I thoroughly enjoyed the secrets and lies revealed among friends. Highly recommend.
The Last Holiday is a gripping, can't-put-down psychological thriller. A group of college friends, who have all grown apart, reunite for a holiday camping trip. While everyone hopes the trip will result in everyone reconnecting with each other, long-hidden secrets and current betrayals force the holiday in a different direction. As more secrets are revealed, each friend feels threatened, and eventually one ends up dead. The story is told through multiple POVs and dual timeframes. None of the characters are overly likable; however, I think that was the author's intent. The book is fast-paced and well-written. I found myself reading late into the night. While a lot of recent thrillers have been pretty predictable, I thought there were quite a few exciting twists and reveals in The Last Holiday. I'll definitely be recommending The Last Holiday to anyone who is looking for an exciting thriller, and I'll for sure be reading more books by Amy Sheppard.
I was hooked from the very first page. A book that truly leaves you questioning everything until the very last page.
Wonderful… It gripped me from the first page until the last. The characters are so amazing… This story kept me glued all the way through… Phenomenal… Outstanding
I received this book from Netgalley.
This book sounded really intriguing so I was excited to start it.
I like that we get to read points of view from different characters.
The flirtationship between Annie and Jack is inappropriate - he's married. Also, to openly flirt with him in front of his wife is disrespectful. She's not a very likeable character. Always has to be the centre of things and acts like she's still 18. Definitely not a good role model for Rose.
It's easy to sympathise with Charlotte. Tristan very obviously has issues with her, and Annie seems to share that opinion as well. We do find out why this is but really, Tristan needs to be a man instead of treating her like dirt he should talk to her and tell her the truth. Charlotte also gets whiny throughout the book which does make you lose a bit of sympathy for her. She needs to realise her self worth and get out of such a toxic situation. While Charlotte is definitely damaged, I feel like her friends protecting her made it worse and is something she took advantage of.
While Stella obviously did the wrong thing with Tristan, I applaud her for standing up to him and seeing that it was wrong. But also, the fact that they let it happen for so long is unforgivable.
This book definitely has some twists and turns but the ending made me sad and mad - smad. Overall, I'd say it's worth a read!
Engrossing story with good character development. Vivid writing which draws the reader in and keeps them enthralled. I have another of this authors books on my TBR. Bumping it to the top of the list after this satisfying read. Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley Galley for an ARC of this.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book .
Annie and her daughter Rose, Jack and his second wife Kelly, Stella and her fiancé Nate and Charlotte and her husband Tristan head off for a week long camping adventure for Rose’s 18th birthday. Smoke, Jack, Stella and Tristan have been friends since college, but rarely get together as a group now. Early on in the story we find out that somebody has been murdered. This storyline is told by Melanie a detective. The days leading up to and after the murder are told by Annie, Stella and Charlotte.
I loved the style of this book. Knowing who was dead early on but still seeing how the story built. Absolute shocker of an ending!
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I was on the fence about this one. It seems like this is a common theme lately; friends reunite for a holiday, secrets come out, someone ends up dead. But this book was good! I had it figured out who the killer was but DEF NOT why!!! Amazing!! This book will keep you guessing as to why and who killed "her." But there are connections you will never guess! Enjoyed this more than her first book.
I haven’t read any of this authors books before but I’m glad I found her, very very good from start to finish, looking forward to seeing what’s next
