Loved this book. It was such a great cat & mouse kind of plot, trying to figure out what everyone’s motives were, and a lot of intriguing con job stories. The characters may be flawed but were still incredibly likable. I always try to figure out the twists before I read them but this one had so many that it was impossible to predict them all.
Awesome book, hard to put down once you’ve been sucked in!

First Lie Wins is a book I could not put down. Every character in the book has secrets. Secret identities and secrets in their past.
Evie, who is not actually Evie, works "jobs" for the mysterious Mr. Smith. She lives with Ryan, who has his own private past.
A mysterious woman, Luca, shows up and threatens to blow it all up.
I never knew where this book was taking me and it was a fasten-your-seatbelt kind of book.
This was an amazing read. Loved the twists and turns. Everytime I thought I had it figured out the plot took another turn and it went in another direction. Lucca was an amazing main character and fit every role perfectly. Would 10/10 definitely recommend this book!
This book was a total romp. The flavor is very Gallagher Girls meets Mr. & Mrs. Smith (to pick some super dated mid-2000s references), and I mean that in every delightful, popcorn munching, super fun good time way imaginable.
So, so good. Ashley Elston is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I was so excited to see her move up to the adult thriller world after I read and also loved her YA books.
Evie Porter has the life everyone envies. She's the perfect Southern girl and has the boyfriend and the house to show for it. Except Evie Porter isn't real.
The identity comes first. With that comes a location and Evie is meant to learn everything she can about the place and the people in it. The mark comes last, and the job is on. Except, Evie isn't always privy to exactly what the job is or who it's for. She only ever hears her bosses mechanical voice over the phone. She's got a feeling that this job is going to be different than all the rest.
Evie has to stay one step ahead in order to regain the identity she's wanted most: her own.
A twisty and engaging story that keeps you guessing until the last page. Highly recommended for fans of Riley Sager!
First Lie Wins is the newest book by author Ashley Easton.
The Synopsis: Evie Porter has just moved in with her handsome boyfriend, Ryan. They are happy, in love, and excited to begin their lives together. Unfortunately, they are both hiding secrets that threaten to destroy more than just their relationship. Evie is not who she says she is, and Ryan is far from the squeaky-clean businessman he appears to be. When a woman named Lucca shows up, she threatens to destroy everything Evie has worked hard to protect, including her life.
This book was a thrilling ride from start to finish! The plot is unique, and I had no idea where the story was going. I couldn’t put this book down and finished it in 2 days. It is easily the best book I’ve read in a long time. I loved the complexities of the main characters (Evie, Ryan, and Devon) and was rooting for them to win.
If you love thrillers, you will love this book!
Great popcorn read that kept me guessing until the end with redeemable characters that kept me company while I guessed. If you enjoy thrillers and a good bit of suspense in your read, definitely go for this book.
If you like mysteries with multiple timelines and aliases, then this is a book you could enjoy.
For me, I found the timelines a bit confusing in the beginning, but as the book progressed they made more sense. It was a bit of a slow burn for me and took me a while to connect with the characters, but in the end it was worth the read. The ending wasn't really a surprise for anyone paying attention, but it was a fun ride over all.
Ahhh this was such a satisfying read! I love the flashbacks that filled in the gaps about Lucca's history and how she came to be a spy/fixer for Mr. Smith, as well as the Easter eggs that led to the big reveal of how she orchestrated his downfall. I thought her character was really well done -- both relatable and sympathetic, yet unapologetically determined to look out for her own interests above all else. Loved reading this!
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
A genuinely enjoyable read - added bonus: Every character has some redeeming quality. Further bonus: I can say it kept me guessing without even muttering anything snarky under my breath.
