I received a free copy of, Genius Noses, by Lena Anlauf, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book has animals from all over the world, it explains the animal, its nose, and what its nose helps each specific animal do, I learned a lot about the animals actually. A good read for kids of all ages.

This is a really beautiful, fact packed book. This is great for the kiddos who love animals and learning fun facts about them. This is more of an informational/encyclopedia type of book vs a storybook that incorporates facts. I do think the illustrations are interesting and invite dialog about the animals!

I used this book as a lesson during our homeschooling day with my 3 year old. He absolutely loved learning about all the animals and the facts that were included. His favorite was seeing what they ate and where they lived. The illustrations were fantastic and we definitely enjoyed this one!

This is a fantastic book with lots of information about animals that have unusual noses. Unique and very educational with adorable illustrations. This would be a great addition to any child's learning library.

A blend of humor and education, Genius Noses shows children that animal noses don’t work exactly like their own. Read about the Star-Nosed Mole whose beautiful red nose with multiple tendrils can smell in water or on land. That’s a big help because he is deaf and blind. There are many types of pigs but all have the same disc shaped nose. Genius Noses is beautifully illustrated, unique in approach, informative and will delight young readers. Its also a charming read aloud story for young children and should prompt both questions and laughter. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lena Anlauf, Vitali Konstantinov and NorthSouth Books for this ARC.

Educational and informative animal book with the focus on noses. I like that it includes facts on unique features of their noses, how they are used, where animals can be found and even latin names. There are no photos but it has colorful illustrations. I especially liked there were many animals I was less familiar with. I can see this being read with a younger child who has an interest in animals. There are too many words on a page, with many difficult words for younger readers to be able to read on their own. I’d recommend for 3rd grade and up.

Thank you to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for the ARC and I’m leaving a voluntary review.

I received and ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love the idea of this book. It's a great concept. I found it really difficult to get invested in. There are too many words on the pages in too many different places and not enough art to accompany them. I tried, but my brain did the big nope. I think for the right audience this book would be very appealling, and I can see that a lot of work and love went into it's creation.

This book was great for curious kids. My son was a little young to fully engage with it but it’s the type of thing I’m sure he will love when older. Even though he couldn’t fully engage with it it still provided a great reference for conversation as we looked through the book.

Genius Noses is a childrens non-fiction book about different animals with unique noses and how they use them. What an informative, educational, and adorable book! The amount of attention to detail and color the authors used with every single illustration is mind blowing. I had never ever heard of a bilby and especially a desman before in my life so I appreciate learning about a new to me animal with this book.

I’d absolutely purchase this book for any child in my life who loves animals. Highly recommend.

**Thanks to NorthSouth books for the e-arc I received in exchange for my honest review.**

Flying creatures, Happiest when hanging out in trees, Ground dwellers, Water creatures, Underground diggers, Index, extensive glossary, and even notes!
What a marvelous zoological exercise of common and exotic animals whose noses are very important to them in many ways!
Translated from the German by Marshall Yarbrough
The illustrations by Vitali Konstantinov are fun, colorful, and delightful while making it clear what fauna is being shown.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school, doctor's office or your public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from NorthSouth Books Inc./NorthSouth Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

This lovely non-fiction packs in the facts in a refreshingly conversational tone. It reminds me of a tour at a nature conservancy where the tour guide maintained young children's attention without seeming didactic. Few non-fiction books lend themselves to being read aloud, but this one will be a favorite, especially for the children who are not yet reading on their own. The illustrations are beautiful and engaging and the author does not shy away from technical language, such as "osmatic" and "electroreception". Highly recommend, especially for ages 2-5.

Thank you so much to NorthSouth books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

A glossary compendium styled book sharing facts on many animals around the world that have unique noses and use them for their survival. With illustrations and jam packed with facts.

This was such a unique book, it never occurred to me that so many rare animals lived with interesting noses or that they played such an important part in their lives. In reading this I have discovered so much, so many new animals and so many new facts about them.

I really enjoyed diving into this factual book, I loved looking through the illustrations on each page, seeing the varieties of different species, getting to learn what their noses were used for, how they lived. The variety of animals included is incredible.

This is a perfect educational book for anyone but especially children to learn all about these unique animals, and their unique noses. It has so much to share and people that love animals would highly enjoy this book.

This fun title is a wonderful educational work! It also aids in early STEM matters. I read it with my kids, ages 2 up to 10, and they all loved it. And so did I, if we're being honest. This title is PERFECT for any animal loving, fact quoting, homeschooler shelf. Or any mix of those. I cannot wait until it comes out in a physical copy so that I can add it to our shelf!

Lena Anlauf has compiled an extensive list of diverse animals throughout the globe with the most unusual noses. These run the gamut from familiar animals like koalas and elephants to animals completely new to me like stink badgers and desmans. Each page has interesting information about these animals - including Latin names, common names, and more colloquial names - along with fun vocabulary words. Is this animal micro or macrosmatic? What is their binomial nomenclature? There is a handy glossary at the end, but even within the book itself they explain the vocabulary quite well.

Vitali Konstantinov illustrates the different animals with entertaining and energetic drawings. The animals convey a great deal of emotion and excitement. They are shown doing what is described in the text - using their nose as a snorkel, or greeting one another with them. They explore their world with the wide variety of schnozzles and muzzles and it's delightful to see. I found myself lingering upon a great deal of the drawings - I wouldn't mind a bookmark with the desman on it!

This is a book that I wish I had as a kid, as someone deeply interested in animals. As an adult, I learned a great deal! This book is extremely interesting, and it respects the intelligence of young readers. It's a book that anyone would treasure for years, and a great introduction to STEM for young readers.

Genius noses is an adorable book for young readers! Each page of the non-fiction book features a different animal with a unique nose. The book is loaded with facts and information about these animals and the function their nose serves. This would be a fun book for elementary school students to read at home or in school! Reference books like this are great because kids can flip around and don't necessarily need to read them cover to cover.

Thanks to NetGalley and NorthSouth for sharing an advanced copy of the ebook with me!
