Multi-generational Las Vegas romp: unexpected pandemonium!💒

This struck me as a story about choices and consequences. It's well-written and with eight central characters creating plenty of action and subplots to keep the story lively in a "whatever could happen next?" way. It's not my favorite of the author's work (I am not a big fan of stories set in Las Vegas), but it's good, entertaining and has a happy, positive all's well that ends well vibe.

Two young Scottish couples visit Vegas for the time of their lives in the early 90's and end up devastated and still coping with the results of their impetuous actions decades later. Their adult children reunite them for a drama-filled week in Las Vegas where some romance blossoms and parents and children reevaluate the direction of their lives.

I was not a big Brenda fan. She's suffering a midlife crisis and is ready to ditch her kind, faithful husband because he's not enough. Hmmm... But the story has lots of movement and reshuffling in the romance department, and then there's Millie, an unapologetic party girl. She has some good dialogue. My favorite characters were left-at-the-altar, divorce lawyer Aiden, earnest florist Zara and Zara's "boring" father Colin.

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Zara and Millie have decided to surprise their parents for their 30th wedding anniversary and take them back to where it all started, Las Vegas! They plan a fun filled week of surprises for them, including contacting two friends of theirs who they see in a picture in a photo in the attic, and thanks to Facebook, are able to track down via their son, Aiden, who is having is own relationship issues-he’s just been left at the altar. So when Zara messages him out of the blue to beg him to bring his parents to Vegas as a surprise for her parents, he thinks it might be just what he needs.
Seems like a brilliant idea, right? I mean, they’ve been married for 30 years so they’re obviously happy and in a great place to celebrate. You would think so, but their parents act super strange when a Millie and Zara finally tell them what they have planned. Why? Because their parents aren’t as happy as they thought. And there’s a whole lot more to the story of their life than the girls ever knew..
Strong characters, heartbreaking moments, family drama, love, forgiveness….all wrapped up nicely. Perfect book club reading.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

I love this authors way of writing such vibrant fun characters and making a romcom plot line so addictive to read! Even though you can almost see what’s going to happen, it doesn’t take the enjoyment out of the book because she takes you in such a wonderful journey of laughs and tears and omg moments!

Yet again, Shari Low delivers a story with all my favorite story elements: humanized characters, love and heartbreak, terrific humor, and an ending that might not be expected but is so completely satisfying.

One Moment in Time is about two couples who, thirty years ago, made decisions that tore apart friendships and set them off on bumpy paths of love. This is the story of when the worse happens and how we try to make the best of it. Sometimes we find happiness but other times we find an unexpected journey to finding ourselves.

Much thanks to NetGalley, Shari Low, and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

First 5 star review for 2023. Loved this.
Zara and Millie, sisters running a florist together decide to surprise their parents for their 30th anniversary with a trip to Las Vegas. They don't know that the wedding in Las Vegas was not the joyous occasion they had thought. Zara goes as far as to find the couple that was in the wedding photos. Which includes a very good looking American son.
I loved the way Shari weaved in the different stories and how different the story was the the norm. It took different points of view including the two older ladies, which was so nice to see.
Loved this and will 100% be reading more of Shari Low's books.

“Brenda wondered what the punishment would be for suffocating her husband at 30,000 feet with an airline pillow.”

Can one wrong decision ruin your life?

This is the question author Shari Low explores in ‘One Moment In Time.”

In searching for an answer she introduces readers to Eileen Smith, Gary Gregg, Colin Jones, and Brenda Fulton - four inseparable friends. They’d worked together in Glasgow and soon became a ‘framily’ who stuck together and swore they’d be friends forever … until they weren’t.

What happened?

It turns out that the saying ‘What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas’ is true.

To reveal the life-changing, ill-fated decision, Low fast-forwards 30 years to Brenda and Colin’s anniversary and slowly works backward by living forwards! What a clever way to reveal the plot. Low, along with Brenda and Colin’s daughters, invite readers to Operation Vegas Reunion. What was intended as a thoughtful surprise soon turns explosive and readers have a front-row seat to the airing of dirty laundry. Can ‘the framily’ learn from the mistake and move forward? Or have three decades entrenched the hurt and made it an impossible roadblock?

Regardless, I found myself belting out the lyrics of Whitney Houston’s ‘One Moment In Time’ when I wasn’t reading and realized that I couldn’t wait to get back to find out what happened!

This was a spectacular read! I laughed. I giggled. I cried.

Colin and his wet wipes had me snorting out loud and Brenda’s trembling mules had me laughing until the tears appeared. Shari Low, I’m stealing ‘trembling mules’ and making it mine from today.

This is my third Shari Low book; each a five-star reading experience. You must put this author on your radar. Her well-written and thought-provoking books will stay with you for a long time.

I was gifted this copy by Boldwood Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

A blast of a book. Sisters decide to plan a surprise 30th wedding anniversary party/gathering for their parents. Let the fun and games begin as the surprise is on them! A great cast of characters (family and friends), multiple storylines, some laugh out loud funny and some a little sad, some romance, a bit of mystery all make for an emotionally satisfying read.

I really enjoyed this book - my first by Shari Low but I intend to read many more by her as I love the way she writes. Imagine the horror of having a surprise 30th wedding anniversary celebration arranged for you by two daughters who have no idea that their parents are about to divorce! The all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas to renew their wedding vows is an even bigger blow! Cue lots of family drama, tears, revelations and some witty and laugh out loud moments. I loved the characters. There is also some pause for thought, i.e. Life is short. Don't waste it with the wrong people at the expense of missing out on your own dreams and personal happiness. I really enjoyed this book. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Shari Low has become one of my go to authors whether it be from this genre of the thriller dramas that she co writes with Ross King.

This latest release is another good read showing the good and bad points in everyday people. The trip to Las Vegas gives it a something extra. I really enjoyed it.

Shari Low has become one of my favorite authors with this stunning book. It wasn’t what I expected, and I’m definitely not mad about it. It was one of a kind.

This is a very nice, lighthearted easy read.
Two daughters have decided to take their perfect parents back to Las Vegas to renew their vows on their 30th wedding anniversary.
What the daughters don't know though, is that their mum is bored and considering leaving their dad.

Added to the mix is the son of the parents best friends who were also in Las Vegas. Wouldn't it be great if they were at the vow renewal?

But there is a reason that all 4 of the parents have lost touch.

Lots of nice characters who are not "too" annoying.

Shari Low has found a forever reader in me. This is my second book from Low, and she always has such a way with words, and such a fantastic way of intertwining story lines. While the story doesn’t focus solely on one relationship, Low still gives each relationship enough time within the novel for the reader to really understand them. I enjoyed that Low kept the relationships realistic as well. One couple is divorced and sort of bitter toward each other and the other is drifting apart. These are things that happen in real life; especially the drifting apart over the years. How many times have I heard someone say “I love you but I’m not in love with you anymore” in a relationship? Low also did a great job of the families supporting each other and Brenda and Colin trying to stay positive. This is the ultimate feel-good book. I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes romance with a hint of mystery.

Its always a treat to know there's a new Shari Low book being released, I love how she makes her characters and the storylines likeable and relatable.
After 30 years of marriage Brenda feels stuck in a rut, at a time she should be enjoying life with her husband he seems content with gardening magazines. Is it time to call a halt to their marriage? But unbeknown to her, their daughters are planning a return trip to Las Vegas where they were married for them to renew their vows. And as a bigger surprise Zara and Milly have tracked down the 2 friends that travelled with them to Vegas.
But this surprise could break Brenda as secrets from the past are revealed.
A fun enjoyable read

This is a story with a lot to it. The characters are all believable, and the story itself is a great read. This would be a great book to take on summer holiday with you.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.

I truly enjoyed this book, and recommend to anyone looking for a fun, sweet, beach read.
What to do when your daughters plan a surprise anniversary trip for you, the week you decide to divorce your husband? Play along, plaster on a smile, and make the most of it. But the trip to recreate their wedding in Vegas was not the only surprise Brenda and Colin's kids have for them, and things in Vegas get a little chaotic! There are two families brought together, and only time will tell how all the pieces fit together. Some will find romance, some will find themselves, and some will just go on with life as is.
Great story, unique characters, and an enjoyable ending.
