I know I will never be disappointed with a Miranda Rijks thriller and I definitely wasn't with this Blockbuster! Naomi rings her friend Jane to pick up her daughter Florrie from school but when Jane gets there the school informs her that Florrie has already been picked up by Jane but Jane has just got there and she definitely doesn't have her with her. So begins a tense and twisted physcological thriller. I found myself completely absorbed in this story and I couldn't stop reading for anything else until I got to the end. I ended up reading it one sitting late into the night. It has plenty of surprises that I didn't see coming and the end twist was a real shocker. I really couldn't get enough and I highly recommend reading this one.
😳📚 Apologies Miranda!!
I read this in time and just realised I haven’t reviewed it yet!
Publication - April 2023
Thanks to the Author Miranda for allowing me to read an ARC of her book. It certainly did not disappoint!
Jane Is asked by her friend, if she will collect Florrie her daughter from school. Only when Jane goes to collect her from school… she is gone, already picked up by someone else.
Really enjoyed this book (I have read a few by this author.) this one definitely kept me guessing the most though.
Definitely recommend this twisty tale!!!

A fast-paced psychological thriller with plenty of twists - just what I like!
Nala asks her best friend, Jane, to collect her four year old daughter, Florrie, from school. When Jane arrives, she is told that Florrie has already been collected - by Jane!
Gripping from the start and as the search for Florrie continues fruitlessly, secrets, lies and marital problems come to the forefront, making you realise there is far more to the story.
I would have liked to have understood more of the background story of the abductor, and I was frustrated at Elsa’s behaviour, which didn’t seem to be that relevant, but other than that, it’s a winner!
4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Four-year-old Florrie is missing...who has taken her and what do they want...?
I'm a sucker for missing child thriller tropes and I love Miranda Rijks' easy style. She just pulls you in, ramps up the tension and delivers a thrilling read every time. With a mixed bunch of characters (mostly unlikeable), there are plenty of twists to keep you guessing and entertained throughout. THE OTHER MOTHER was such a quick read that I devoured it in one sitting in bed last night.
Naomi is a physiotherapist caught up on a training course when she asks her best friend Jane to pick up her four year old daughter Florrie from school and meet her at the dentists where Florrie has an appointment. But when Jane arrives at the school she is told that the little girl has already been collected by her mother's friend Jane. But she is Jane! So who picked up Florrie? And where is she now?
Jane is frantic trying to contact Naomi, who is unreachable, and searching for the little girl all the while questioning the school as to why they didn't properly identify the woman who picked her up claiming to be Jane. They certainly wanted to see her identification so why did they not check those of whoever picked up Florrie?
A psychologist who specialises in family dynamics, Jane also masquerades as an agony aunt for a local paper doling out advice to those who seek it. But it isn't long before the "agony aunt" letters begin to take a sinister turn targeting her and including intimate details of her own life. Every time something happens in her life, she receives a letter from an anonymous source mirroring recent events. Jane begins to feel spooked. And when a client starts getting too familiar and wanting to focus on her her life rather than his own, Jane wonders if it's all somehow connected.
And then when she finds incriminating evidence in her own home that is clearly linked to Florrie, she begins to doubt everyone around her...including her own family. As her marriage crumbles, her children acting out and becoming more distant than ever and her successful practice falls apart, Jane is further rocked by a secret that threatens to shatter her entire world. Can things ever be the same again?
Time is running out. Can Jane find Florrie and uncover the truth whilst saving her own family before it's too late?
Once again, Rijks delivers a fast paced tension-filled thriller that keeps you turning the pages until you reach the end. I devoured it in under five hours as it was such an easy read. None of the characters were particularly likeable but some moreso than others. It was such an easy and entertaining read that I have come to love. I also love the multiple POVs that allow you to see different sides of the story whilst trying to figure out the mystery therein.
I don't think the ending was the "twist you won't see coming" kind of jaw-dropping shock the tagline promised, but it was still a nice touch all the same.
Overall, THE OTHER MOTHER was a thoroughly entertaining thriller that is easily devoured and completely addictive from start to finish.
I would like to thank #MirandaRijks, #Netgalley, #InkubatorBooks and #ZoolooTours for an ARC of #TheOtherMother in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of The Other Mother by Miranda Rijks, published by Inkubator Books
This was a great read, so many twists then turns and drama. A good amount of characters, well introduced, good interaction between them. I like how the who dunnit was introduced before the story ended.
Jane is the main voice and character in my mind, but the story is told by two other characters as well. Good story line. Naomi's daughter has been picked up by someone other than Jane from school, and now she is missing. The police are involved, who is guilty?
One of the things I really liked about the author's writing style was her description of the new settings as events unfold, for example when Jane is sitting across from Amira in the coffee shop the author describes the shop and some of it's history.
I really enjoyed this novel by Miranda Rijks, it's the 2nd of her novels that I have read. Previous novel was in 2019, I Want you Gone. I enjoyed this one more. I'll gladly read more books by this author. Her novels flow well.
Really enjoyed the story. Good characters development and very realistic. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book
Florrie disappears ,,picked up by the wrong person. Lots of secrets and lies are uncovered before we get to the truth.
Pulled me in from the first page. Well developed characters and a tightly woven plot. I love the missing child trope and it's done a lot. This I felt stands out because it managed to put a unique spin on it. The major twist was also unexpected. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this
Lots of twists in this book, especially the ending. I was totally unable to figure out who did what. Definitely my favorite kind of book. Looking forward to reading more by this great author!
A parents worst nightmare! This book was suspenseful and had some twists and kept me on my toes. It was a fast read! Definitely add this book to your TBR pile!
When Florrie goes missing the world stops to gather its thoughts and process the pain hidden among the crevices of the system that was flawed around her.
This exciting new thriller by Miranda is everything you'd hope for and more. It has so much energy, so many great and notable characters, with a storyline that comes at you with pure vigor that's unmatched.
I enjoyed reading this novel because it deals with every parents worst nightmare coming true. The reality of this drama is that someone's child - a young impressionable young girl- a daughter and friend has vanished.
However, someone also knows the truth about the whereabouts of this young lad and someone is about to experience a fire and fury like no other when the wrath of justice comes calling.
Sure, we have the back and forth saga between friends, family, and even foe but we also have the finger pointers, the nay-sayers, the wanna be's who know the truth.
Never assume you have all the facts until the facts are upon the table is my best advice. As this one changes hands and the last hand to hold may be the worst of them all.
Thank you to Miranda for this exciting new thriller as well as her team for getting this ARC into my hands.
The Secret Book Sleuth highly recommends this newest creation!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this advance copy. This is only the second book for me by this author, and she is amazing! I am filling up my TBR with her books. Florie was supposed to be picked up from school by her mom's friend Jane, but when Jane gets there, she has already been picked up! As everyone panics and can't find her, the police are called. During the investigation, many shocking secrets come out, This was a wonderful thriller and hard to put down.
This is a fast-paced thriller where each family is just as messed up as each other.
Jane goes to the school to pick up her friend's 4 year old daughter, but on arrival discovers that the child has already been collected by someone claiming to be Jane. Now the child is missing.
Naomi and Lorenzo have a turbulent marriage which is just exasperated by the disappearance of their daughter Florrie. Lorenzo is a difficult character to like, he has zero redeeming qualities and spends more time blaming Naomi than he does anything else. I will say, that I really felt the pain Naomi was going through.
Jane and Robert have two teenage children, and parenting them has it's own challenges. The teenagers are out of control, and Jane has very little of a relationship with either of them.
Both families are filled with secrets that tear them apart, while also bringing everyone full circle to show has they each relate to and effect each other.
Aside from Naomi, none of the characters were all that likeable, but the plot drove it enough that I didn't care. I kind of liked the little twists that it took.
I am a big fan of Miranda Rijks and The Other Mother is fantastic. There were so many twists and turns that I was kept on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and I highly recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for my ARC.
When Jane is asked to pick up Nala's daughter, Florrie, from school, Jane obliges to help out her friend. She is minutes late to the school, and every mother's worst nightmare has just become a reality - Florrie isn't there. Someone else has picked her up and no one knows who it was. As the hours turn into days, hope dwindles that they'll find the little girl safe and sound. If things weren't bad enough, a huge secret between Jane and Nala's families is revealed. Who took Florrie and why? Will Florrie be found alive?
The Other Mother is fast-paced with lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed the reveal of who the abductor was and the reasonings behind it. One of the big secrets was pretty wild. I also loved the reveal of who was sending Jane anonymous letters. Happy reading!
A great psychological thriller. So many secrets and twists! When a little girl goes missing her mother will do anything to find her. What follows is a tangled web of lies that all must be uncovered to rescue the child. A great read!
The Other Mother was a fast-paced thriller with a surprising ending! I love Miranda Rijks's books and this one did not disappoint. Her character development is on point and had thoroughly disliking a couple, while caring for another.
If you like twisty thriller, then you will enjoy this book. I highly recommend it.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Inkubator Books and Miranda Rijks for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was a 'meh' story for me. I liked it, but I saw some plot twists coming. I couldn't really connect with the characters, but I enjoyed Jane and Naomi to an extent. I also wasn't fond of was the way Elsa behaved, I didn't understand the reasons behind her anger towards her mother and her diary entrance was unexpected and out of place. It is a good thriller, it just didn't blow me away.
The Other Mother by Miranda Rijks was an excellent psychological thriller that will have you drawn in from the very first few pages.

WoW This book was so good I loved it and I had to finish this book once I started it. it had so many twists and turns throughout it made it a great page turner from start to finish.
I highly recommend this book....Another 5 star read!
Big Thank you to the author Miranda Rijks and NetGalley for the advanced copy to read.
This book kept me on my toes throughout.
When jane asked Robert about the sock it shook me with his reaction. I immediately thought he was guilty, which in the end was incorrect
The twist got me and Elsa at the end shocked me. I rate this book 3.5stars
Thankyou to Netgalley and Miranda Rijks for the opportunity to read this and give an honest review
