I loved this book from beginning to end!
So many twists and turns and good dialogue!
This is a must read! Once you start reading, you’ll find it hard to put it down!
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
Now that is what I call a fast paced thriller! Such a quick read, very easy to lose yourself in the story. A bunch of highly unlikeable characters and some that I really did feel for. Plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing, with a surprising ending. Very entertaining.
Nala is caught up at work and asks her best friend Jane to pick up her 4 year old daughter from school and meet her at the dentists. Only when Jane gets there, Florrie has already been collected. Where is she? Who has her? A parents worst nightmare. We slowly begin to get to know all the major players in this story, and their secrets. Of course nothing is straight forward.
Thanks to the author Miranda Rijks and NetGalley for the advanced copy to read. I do have some other books of Miranda’s on my kindle that I need to get to. Publishes on April 19th.
Wow! Miranda Rijks just never disappoints! This was a great twisty tale filled with secrets, lies and so much tension. Brilliant characters that kept me flipping pages long into the night
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
I raced through this book desperately needing to find out what happened to flood rrie. I wasn’t disappointed it was an easy book to get into with lots of intriguing characters.
Thank you to net galley and the publishers for this arc.
4 stars
My thanks to Net Galley and Inkubator Books for allowing me to review this EXCELLENT book!!!!!
Nala Moretti was running late at work and asked her friend Nala if she could pick up her 4 year old daughter Florrie from school and drive her to the dentist. Problem is ,when Jane gets to school, someone else claiming to be Jane takes Florrie and kidnaps her. Why? Who? How did this other person know Nala asked Jane? The twists, the who,and the why will really surprise you.
Loved this book! Easy ,quick page turning read. Did not care for Jane's horrible daughter, but great book.
Three cheers for the author because they have done it again… I opened this book and I was lost straight away… brilliant story… fast-paced… I just love this author… 5 stars, of course.
Nala begs her friend, Jane to pick 4 year old Florrie up from school. But Jane finds that someone impersonating her has picked Florrie up and there is no sign of the kidnapper or Florrie.
As the book unfolds, you find out exactly how intertwined the lives of the characters are. Many secrets between them.
I really do like Miranda Rijks style of writing, her books have terrific twists, and you find that one twist just leads to another.
In this book, I didn't like the characters much. Some were far too self absorbed, and as for the teenagers.... well.... a bit of stern discipline would go down well!

First of all I want to say a huge thank you for allowing me to read this eARC.
I read the description and thought - yes this is the one for me - it sounds amazing and like it’ll have me hooked from the get go.
Unfortunately that was not the case. The premise of the novel holds promise but the execution stills needs work. I found a lot of the information unnecessary in terms of it not adding anything to the plot itself. Almost as if it was put in to increase the word count. I think as well for me - as a teacher I know it’s not that easy for a child to be taken from school as what happened in the novel so I found that part off putting.
The Characters were relatable which helped me get through the book but I struggled to see the need for so many different characters - they didn’t necessarily feed into the plot of the book.
The writing style was easy to ready and despite my disappointment with some aspects it helped me to keep reading.
I unfortunately have had to give this read 2 stars. I think with a bit more work and revision of what is needed in the Novel it could be a gripping. Unputdownable Novel.
This is the first book that I have read from this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It follows the story of a four-year-old girl who is kidnapped, and how it affects lives and friendships. The story is fast paced and keeps you page turning. It was well-written, although it could do with a proofread before it's published as there are a couple of typos (one being tip instead of turn), But grammar aside, it is a gripping tale. I did guess who the abductor was around 45% in, but it was still enjoyable as the character's lives become entwined. I would recommend this book, and I am looking forward to reading more from the author.
I thank NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A great read from start to finish, one of my favourite books of the year, it had everything in it you could imagine, amazing
The Other Mother was a very fast read for me as I needed to know what happens to Florrie. Every character was crazy in their own way for a book that had so many unlikeable characters it was a very likeable book!!!
This was a fast read for me. The suspense was good and I didn’t see the twists coming. I wasn’t a fan of some of the characters, especially Elsa. Little brat LOL. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
I haven’t read anything by this author so I was intrigued to get this book. Florrie goes missing and I’m instantly hooked with why would someone take a child and who would do it.? I enjoyed the fast pace and the authors writing style.
I was shocked to figure out who took the child and why. I liked that the secrets were slowly sprinkled in to keep you engaged and wondering what will happen next.
I enjoyed this fast moving mystery set in England, about two families whose lives becomes intertwined when a little girl goes missing. This is a thrilling and suspenseful novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book is extremely fast paced with a good amount of dialogue, which I love! I could not turn these pages fast enough! I loved the story line and there were so many twists and turns! Amazing book!
I actually have read a book with a very similar premise not that long ago so initially I was just confused if this was a re release but it did very quickly differentiate from the other book and from there on there were no similarities what so ever. It delivers on the premise and is a strong thriller. I liked the writing style, although it did all feel a bit slow to me.
I have to say i struggled to believe a school wouldn't immediately phone the police when they realise they've given a child to the wrong person for a start but hey ho! Let's just wait a bit until we're forced to instead?! So I did have a few bits like that which didn't seem entirely logical. Neither did a mother in law purposefully causing her pregant daughter in law to have an accident?! Because you're annoyed at her, you'd risk killing your own grandchild?! Or when youre off work because your child has been abducted so you ask a friend for money and she refuses?! Like who are these people?! It all just seems a tad far fetched and not how actual humans behave. And in the UK there's sick pay, there's paid leave or holidays if your kid has been kidnapped and you can't work. Again, what employer would refuse to do something to help if for no other reason than not wanting the bad publicity
I did do a double take when they named the black character Nala because for most, you think of Nala from the lion king.... and there are other names that black people have except those from cartoons set in Africa. Likewise, not sure how common Nala is in South Africa since its more of an East African name and swahili isn't really spoken in South africa either but each to their own I guess. To be fair, when we have african parents but are born here..... we usually just get British names anyways and considering how steeped in colonisation South africa is, a lot of babies over there are named what would be classed as "western" names anyways so it all felt a bit stereotypical and lazy.
That aside though, I am a massive fan of the author and she does always write complex thrillers that keep you guessing. You absolutely do not see these turns coming. This one wasn't a favourite for me. It's very character based but just too unbelievable for me to really get lost in. I just kept having more questions. If you don't think too hard and just take it for what it is and don't question anything then It is a decent thriller
Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, A good who done it, and a few crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. Nala asks Jane to pick up her daughter from school. When Jane gets there, it appears someone else has already picked her up. I did skim around more in this book and found that I didn't miss much. Although there were some connections that I didn't guess; it ended overall like a fairly typical thriller. Wasn't bad-not the best.
3.5 Stars rounded up to 4
This was my first time reading any of Miranda's work, and I really enjoyed it!
As a fan of psychological thrillers, endings are extremely important to me, and I have to say I thought this was a great ending. I was slightly upset when we discovered what was really going on as early as we did, and I thought I would find it difficult to stay invested, but I was glad to find I was wrong.
This story was fast-paced and I practically flew through it.
If you're looking for a new psychological thriller to read, this is a great option!
I really wanted to like this book, the description sounded so interesting and I was in the mood for a good psych thriller. Well, this wasn't it. I read up to chapter 15 then jumped to chapter 27. It doesn't seem like I missed much. I had hoped the ending would have me regretting that I skipped those chapters, it didn't. At least I know how it ended.
