A kooky read where vampires -- pardon me, Immortals, they're touchy about the term "vampires" -- are descendants of survivors from Atlantis whose immortality and blood-drinking properties come from nanobots in the blood. But the actual plot is a fated mate scenario with a heavy dose of a deranged stalker lurking in the shadows.

You always know what you’re going to get with an Argeneau family story, and Bad a Luck Vampire is no exception. This is the 36th installment of the series, and even though we’ve read about finding life mates, shared wet dreams, and getting changed 35 times before, this book is not stale or boring. The chemistry between Alasdair and Sophie the that kind of white hot instalove that Sands is known for, and it’s always fun to revisit characters from previous stories.

This wasn’t my favorite, but I’m not giving up on the Argeneau series yet. The pacing feels off with a lot more action loaded into the second half of the book and a bit of an abrupt ending. Also with the heroine having so much already going on in her personal life we didn’t get to see her really learn about or process the existence of immortals.

Thanks to Avon and NetGalley for my chance to review.

I have been working through my TBR shelf and have finally gotten up to my Lynsay Sands books. And I have been LOVING her highlander romance books. So when I saw the ARC for her vampire series, I was so excited. Then the bait and switch at the beginning of the book when she is on a date with Tybo and you think he is the hero, but noooo. I have never read this in a romance before! It was amazing!

But then, I really struggled with later events in the book. Why are the uncles so so involved? Why is her “family” so creepy? Why is the title Bad Luck Vampire?

89% we learn that the whole time, they aren’t vampires!?!?

This may have been my first Argeneau book, but I really really thought they were vampires. And it turns out they are science experiments from Atlantis. “Immortals” who have fangs, drink blood, can get set on fire, and somehow turn their soulmates into immortals through some painful process that is not shown in this book.

They are Scottish and immortals, what isn’t there to love? I know what you are thinking, how is this not your cup of tea? I think aside from the immortals stuff, the whole big reveal about who the murderer was was too creepy for me, and idk why she could not make her family’s life a living hell since it is their fault as to why her’s has been. I mean 6 murders I think is enough to actually get the police involved. I did not feel as though their decision was justified to not tell the people who should know. Like is Sophie going to continue being friends with Meg? Or Bobby? We don’t know.

Also how are they soulmates? Why did they fall in love? I feel like these beats just did not hit right. Things felt too rushed and there was not enough tension for me.

This was not my cup of tea. It might be someone else’s though.

While Sophie Ferguson was on a blind date it started going south. The guy, Carl, kept pushing Sophie to drink alcohol and wasn’t considerate. When Tybo and his friend stepped into help Sophie, she couldn’t help but notice him or how gallant he was being. The friend asked Tybo what his plans are toward Sophie, and he figured she would be the perfect date to his wedding. When Tybo introduced her to Valerian’s aunt Marguerite, she figured that Sophie would be the perfect woman for Alasdair MacKenzie. Alasdair definitely felt a spark and was drawn to Sophie from the very beginning. When Sophie turns out to be Alasdair’s life mate only good things can happen right? Unfortunately, Sophie seems dangerous and cursed from the get-go. As Sophie and Alasdair fall more for each other, Sophie hides a terrible secret that could end up killing Alasdair too, despite him being an immortal.
What a wonderfully intriguing, good contemporary paranormal romance filled with hot handsome beautiful vampires, funny situations, humorous matchmaking fiends and just a great fantastic story all around! It’s totally my fault for reading the very last book in the series so of course I was lost and couldn’t figure out how the vampires even were made or how others became vampires. That aside the story was well worth the read. I just wouldn’t recommend to anyone to read the very last book until maybe reading the first just to understand how the vampires are made and the rest to understand the strange familial ties, they all have. Ms. Lynsay Sands does know how to write a very interesting story that just grips you from the beginning though and doesn’t let up until the very end. Alasdair at first was a little tough to even like but as the book progressed it was easy to see the strange mystical connection between him and Sophie. While Sophie on the other hand was just a very charming captivating heroine despite her bad luck too. Also, the cover is hotter than hot too! I know that I plan on reading more of Ms. Sands stories especially this series and yes, I will start at the beginning instead of at the end!

Poor Sophie. Is she cursed? Death seems to follow her… from her parents, to fiancés , to anyone who gets close. Alisdair is an immortal. He goes to a wedding and gets sat next to his cousin and coworkers date for the ending. He is a brooding Scot who dies everything to hide his accent unless he is heated or emotional. Then the burr comes out. He is told by Marguerite that his mate is here but he can’t say anything until her date is over. Wellll… that is great except the nanos have other plans out of his control. Maybe since Alisdair is immortal. Thank goodness since he will have to dodge death over and over if he is the life mate of Sophie.

Look - 36 books in you should know what to expect here. If this is where you’re starting, for some reason, I guess you can do that but you’ll miss all the world building and backstory for just about every character in this book. That being said, this did have some fun, new mysteries thrown in to keep it fresh.

Sophie is cursed. She’s been followed by a lot of mysterious events that color her childhood. She thought she finally found a place she belonged, with her adopted family who she also works with, but the bad luck continues. On a spectacularly bad blind date, she gets drawn into the Argeneau world. Alasdair is an immortal who has given up finding his fated mate until he sets eyes on Sophie. On a date with someone else, it seems bad form but the entire Argeneau clan gangs up to make these two meet.

What follows is a whodunnit coupled with some very meddling family members. These two have the typical, expected sizzle that mates have, with a sometimes dark murder-mystery going on behind the scenes. I honestly didn’t guess the big bad here, so that was kind of nice to have happen, too. I’ll keep reading these books until there are no more to read, so please keep publishing!

I think the same of this book was very appropriate! I felt like there was bad luck piling up everywhere. I did not see the ending coming and thought it was a good twist. This book might be more challenging for some, if you have adverse life experiences such as mental health crisis, growing up in foster care or victims of violent crimes/murder.

I enjoyed reading about Sophie who had some hard life experiences and her fated immortal, Alasdair. I really enjoyed Alasdair’s uncles. There were a lot of relatable moments, The steamy scenes were hot but also funny. If you like a twist of a modern girl meeting a “older” man you will enjoy this fun read.

I would rate this a three out of five. Netgalley provided this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.,

I love this series and Bad Luck Vampire is no exception!
Sophie feels like she’s cursed in love and Alasdair seems to paying the price with bad luck.
I knew where the story was headed but the real twist comes in form of “who is causing the bad luck?”!! I had my own guesses but the truth was a shock. As well as the “why”.
5 stars!!

BAD LUCK VAMPIRE An Argeneau Novel #36 by Lynsay Sands

Alasdair MacKenzie and Sophie Ferguson are our couple in this 36th book. How does Lynsay Sands keep this series relavent and fresh this many books in? She certainly does! Alasdair has a twin brother Colle. I love this story as much due to the Highlander uncles! They are wonderfully funny, and having them giving their 300 year old nephew dating advice is priceless to this story. Especially when they think he is dragging his feet on the explanations. I certainly hope Colle, Connor, Ludan, Inan and Odart get life mates in the near future. This is 5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Publishers for gifting me an ARC of this book.

I want to start with the positives. One: I finished the book. 2 It starts of really good and 3: the idea.

I am not the biggest fan of 3.5+ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ just because you lose so much plot for sex and this book was just like that. They were like bunnies and really sucked at controlling themselves once they touched.

It did have some funny moments but not enough for me to call it a rom com. Though I do feel for Alasdair he really didn’t deserve almost dying so much lol.

Sophie may have gone to the wedding with the man who rescued her from a bad date,, but there’s no way to deny the attraction to the man sitting beside her.. Alasdair - and the other immortals in the room - are aware the Sophie is Alasdair's life mate, but he won’t intrude on her date. The next morning, though, the chase is going to start in earnest.

Sophie would be thrilled to be chased by Alasdair, except she’s sure she’s cursed. Everyone she’s ever been close to, ever loved has died. She can’t risk Alasdair that way. When he’s the victim of some strange accidents, ones that would have killed him if he wasn’t immortal, he and his uncles are sure none of those accidents, as well as those in Sophie's past, were actually accidents. Now they just need to find out who’s to blame so Sophie and Alasdair can get on with their happily ever after.

This book is a fun combination of matchmaking and mystery. Alasdair’s uncles provide the perfect comedic offset to he accidents that Alasdair suffers. And that’s what I love about the Argeneau stories. They simply don’t take themselves too seriously. This story read quickly and provided a laugh on almost every page. This series never gets stale. I recommend the whole series to anyone looking for a feel good, pick me up story.

This may be book 36 in the Argeneau series but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone. Alasdair MacKenzie has never once considered himself unlucky in all the centuries he’s been an immortal rogue enforcer. Not until he meets Sophie. Finding the beautiful, smart, and funny woman who is his life mate is great luck, actually. But meeting her at a wedding full of Argeneaus, not to mention his own busybody uncles determined to “help him claim his woman,” is bad luck. And the fact that Sophie is someone else’s date? Well that’s just the next level of unlucky. From the way her gaze travels over his body like a caress to the electric zing whenever they innocently touch…he wants her for all eternity! He’ll keep his hands off Sophie until her date is over. After that all bets are off and he’ll pull out all the stops to win her. Great plan—until he gets hit by a car. And then he’s poisoned. Is his luck that bad, or is someone out to stop this immortal from claiming Sophie as his life mate?

I loved how this story starts off. Sophie is on a bad date that takes a bad turn, but is saved by 2 enforcer's. And one ends up asking her out, just hoping for a life mate. But he ends up taking her to a wedding for their date. But, her date is also the best man in the wedding and ends up leaving her a lot. When Alasdair meets her and realizes that she could be his life mate, his family starts interfering and it was absolutely hilarious!! So, I really liked this story. Sophie and Alasdair were funny together and then you add in his Uncle's (who absolutely need their own stories!!!) and it was great for me. The only reason I knocked this down a bit, the ending seemed to be rushed after the rest just wasn't. It was almost like the story hit a certain amount for word count and then the ending was rushed to make it fit. Other than that, I loved everything else about this story.

Cute, spicy, and exhilarating.
I know this is a series and I have not read other ones but I enjoyed this one.

All opinions are my own and I am so grateful for the chance to read and review this book.

Our story centers on Sophie , she is an orphaned girl who has grown up with more tragedy than really anyone should. With loss following her at every corner , she only has her foster family to rely on. Or so she thinks. Then she meets Alasdair , a handsome Scottish accented “vampire” and deadly secrets come to life.

I have been getting into vampire romances and this one is definitely at the top for me. I liked that he is basically a big shy cinnamon roll. I’m all for shy guys personally. I like his care for Sophie and how certain events her handled. He is not great at talking to women but he certainly means well. How four goofy uncles also make for some lighthearted moments out of the chilling ones.

The spice is good and I think fits the fated mates plot. But it is definitely very spicy.

I felt the ending to be a little rushed. I was expecting more out of getting to possibly the biggest portion of the plot and it fell flat for me. But the journey was nice and slow. Do not expect much romantic development in the beginning.

If you need a nice romantic murder mystery this one needs to be on the list !!

Bad Luck Vampire by Lynsay Sands is book 36 in the Argeneau Series. This is the story of Tybo and Sophie. Tybo saves Sophie from an aggressive man. Tybo is attracted to Sophie and asked her to attend a family wedding. There he learns she may be a life mate for someone else.
Love Ms. Sands writing and I highly recommend it along with this book.

There’s nothing like being on a bad date, except when that bad date goes really bad. Just when Sophie thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse. It takes a change for the good, with two handsome strangers coming to her rescue. If the night couldn’t get any more odd, one of those beautiful strangers, invites her to a wedding, to which she agrees to go. Little did Sophie know that going to a simple wedding would truly change her life.

For someone who’s been alive for centuries, he’s never considered himself unlucky until the night of the wedding. Alistair was just dealt a great deal of luck in finding his life made. Then at a moment's notice, it becomes the most unlucky night he’s ever had. Alastair has waited for centuries to find his life mate and she’s at this wedding with someone else and a family member no less. Then add in his crazy and fun Scottish uncles, determined to help him get the girl. He’s feeling pretty unlucky at the moment.

From the moment Sophie and Alastair looked at each other they were drawn to one another. Alastair knew she was the one for him, but yet she didn’t understand how she could be so drawn to another man when she was literally there with someone else. I really enjoyed the way they met the way they felt the attraction and the way they came together. Bad Lucky Vampire was a fun and entertaining read. Sophie and Alastair have a slow burn that happens kind of fast. I love the way they talk to each other. Their romance is sweet and sensual.

When I first started reading romance books, approximately 14 years ago or so Lynsay Sands’
Vampire, Interrupted was one of the first paranormal romances. I picked up, and I’m happy to say, after a decade or more of reading I am still reading the lovely Lynsay Sands, but this series has gone on to over 35 books. I was just as entertained with Bad Luck Vampire as I was many years ago when I picked up Vampire Interrupted.

Sophie has never had good luck when it comes to her love life. Or with having love in her life. The only remaining fixtures in her life are her childhood bestie Megan and her family, who fostered her after she lost her garnets. So it figures that her first blind date in a long while is a literal date from hell that she requires rescuing from. And she doesn’t know the good fortune she has in her rescuers: Tybo and Valerian, even when Tybo asks her out while literally having to manhandle her nightmare of a date. But it’s even weirder when her first real date with Tybo is Valerian’s wedding, and his Aunt insists that she meet his cousin Alasdair.
Alasdair isn’t having much good luck himself lately. First, his meddling Uncles have followed him and his twin Colle from Scotland, and then Marguerite manages to introduce him to his life-mate, while she’s on a date with his cousin! Meaning that not only does he have to win her over, and fend off his Uncles’ well-meaning but more than likely disastrous attempts to “help”, but he also has to suffer through her date with Tybo before he can make any sort of move. Of course, he faces the obstacle of Sophie’s resistance even once he’s in the clear to work on winning her over, because he’s unaware that his continuing “bad luck” surrounding the time he’s spending wooing her is related to what Sophie and her family jokingly refer to as her “curse”. But it doesn’t take long for Alasdair and his immortal family to catch on to what Sophie doesn’t realize: her “curse” that has already cost her a boyfriend, a best friend, and not one but two fiancés, isn’t due to luck or even coincidence as she assumes, but due to the actions of someone else. Someone who seems fixated on Sophie and her love life, and isn’t willing to risk that Alasdair might even get as far as her previous paramours in presenting her with some kind of ring.
And despite the fact that he’s immortal, and Sophie is very afraid of losing yet another person she loves, the accidents escalate to the point beyond inconvenience even for an immortal.
I’m never disappointed when I read a Lynsay Sands romance, whether it’s an Argeneau novel, or a historical romance—I’m partial to her Highland Brides series, but have read a number of others as well. And though there’s always at least a little bit of a mystery and/or investigation when the immortal trying to win their life-mate is an Enforcer, I found the mystery of Sophie’s “curse” and Alasdair’s escalating “bad luck” more compelling than anticipated, and though I had several theories, Sands managed to fold in enough red herrings that I was still surprised when the time came for the reveal. And I definitely didn’t want to put it down. Absolutely an all-night or in-one-sitting kind of read. Bad Luck Vampire left me eager to see who will be matched next—though personally I’m rooting for Colle and have a vote as to who I might pair him with—and wanting to go back to the beginning of the series to re-read those I’ve read before and catch up on the handful I’ve missed throughout the years. One of my go-to authors for vampire romance, Sands has proved again why I keep coming back to her work and this series in particular, especially since I first picked up A Bite to Remember when I was in high school and it was fairly new! Nearly 20 years and more than 30 books later, I’m still hooked on the expansive Argeneau family and look forward to more in the future!

This was a fun addition to the Argeneau series. Light-hearted and sweet, this focuses mostly on Alastair trying to figure out how to romance Sophie while not telling her about immortals and life mates (and avoiding the kind of 'help' his older uncles are trying to provide!). Alastair is usually quiet and prefers to fade into the background, but for Sophie, he's going to have to push himself out of his comfort zone. Sophie has had a run of bad luck when it comes to boyfriends, so she isn't interested in anything serious, but Alastair might be the one to change her mind-if they can figure out who her murderous stalker is before Alastair becomes the next victim.

The ending was a little rushed, which was a disappointment, but I liked that I definitely didn't see the bad guy coming before the reveal. I hope we see more of Colle, Tybo and the uncles in the future, and I hope we explore the hints the uncles dropped about the troubles in Europe now that there don't seem to be any more matchmakers like Marguerite over there.

I just read the newest book in the Argeneau series and wow is it a good one!! I think it could be my favorite! This is Alasdair and Sophie’s romance. Sophie is human and Alasdair is immortal. Sophie meets Alasdair at a family wedding where she’s someone else’s date. He realizes at once that she could be his life mate. Luckily her date is also an immortal and realizes this too and he steps back to let them spend time together. They have instant chemistry and Sophie feels guilty since she’s there with another man. After the wedding they try to date but things keep happening to cause problems. There are hilarious side characters and great emotions between the leads. I really enjoyed this book!! I look forward to more stories in this world. Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reader, copy in exchange for an honest review.

I haven’t read this series in a ling while and was super excited when the publisher approved my request.

First off, loved the energy between Alasdiar and Sophie. They were great on page and I enjoyed their romance. The humor in #36 was typical and imo, keeps up with the usual banter you see through out it. There is receptiveness with this story but again, this is book #36 so I think its to be expected.

All and all, this is a good read and is definitely a read for fans of the series.
