I can always count on a good time when I pick up a Lynsay Sands book. I know there will be some spice and also some laughs.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced digital review copy.
I received an E-Arc from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review! Thank you!
Well I gobbled this book up pretty fast! I wonder why? *grins*
Although I will say that this book had my brain scrambling to figure out what was going to happen next between the main characters: Sophie and Alasdair. I loved how the storyline happens in this book. It's not all about the spicy bits (although the spicy bits were nice), there is actually a storyline here with mystery and laughter. I loved this combination.
I love how Alasdair and Sophie met at a wedding as sparks flew immediately. They eventually start to date. The dating episodes were cute and spicy. As the relationship keeps on going, many things keep on happening: good and bad!
One bad thing after another keeps attacking Alasdair. I wanted to know why this was happening to him and who the villain was!
Eventually Aladsdair family gets involved in helping him to win Sophie over and when bad things start happening to him. His family starts to investigate because that's what they do. This was awesome and annoying to Aladsdair. I think I would be feeling the same way.
It took Sophie moments to handle everything that was revealed to her about his family. I loved how she stood her ground. I loved how she asked questions and the Uncles answered them in their own ways. I loved how the Uncles were kind and yet annoying. It had me chuckling a few times! Even when the Uncles talk about "Their three-date-before-sex theory." Even when the Uncles talk about reading her mind which threw her for a loop.
I thought when Alasdair explained things to Sophie in his own way it made their connection even stronger. He's a gentleman!
All is revealed towards the end of the book which I did not see that coming at all! It was kinda of creepy.
I look forward to reading more from Lynsay Sands!
Sophie goes to a wedding with Tybo a new friend sheets most unexpectedly. While he is busy performing his best man duties Sophie meets Alasdair with a little help from certain guests as the wedding. Quickly the "guest" realize that she is the life mate to Alasdair and everybody sets out to help these to connect. Alasdair is thrilled but worried since he isn't really isn't all that talkative and more conservative. Something he will need to get over and fast since Sophie seems to have an issue with her past boyfriends all dropping dead or in coma. Really good story enjoyed it all and hope we read more about Alasdair's uncles.
Bad Luck Vampire
Alasdair MacKenzie is convinced he has a gnarly case of bad luck when he encounters his fated mate, Sophie Ferguson, for the first time while she is on a date with another man. Between some bad shrimp and a threatening hit and run, it’s going to be harder than he thought to convince Sophie they’re meant to be together. Throw in four meddling uncles who are hellbent on helping him woo his mate, and Alasdair’s got his work cut out for him.
I liked the family Dynamic of the Immortals; they seemed like a funny and easygoing group. However, I would have like to see what the job duties of an Enforcer would detail. I feel like the ending was a little bit rushed and (correct me if I’m wrong) I couldn’t figure out who unplugged Alasdair’s battery in his SUV. I also found it a little ironic that they don’t like to be called vampires, yet it’s in the title.
Rating 4/5
I just adore the Argeneau novels. Every single time I open one I know I am not going to be disappointed. Bad Luck Vampire is Alisdair’s book.
When Alisdar meets Sophie at the wedding of Valerian’s and Natalie’s wedding. She is also the date of his cousin Tybo,
Tybo saved Sophie from a horrendous blind date. When she went to leave and her date followed her outside Tybo stopped him. And then he asked for a date…little did she know the date was to a wedding.
Sophie has had a lot of tragedy in her life. She has lost a lot of loved ones and friends even claim that she is cursed. When she meets Alisdair he starts having some bad luck. Accidents keep happening. Does he really have bad luck or is someone out to get him?
I loved this read. I really enjoyed that mystery aspect of it. I kept going back and forth on who could it really be. I did actually expect who was really behind it and why!!! Overall a 4.5 star that I rounded up for reviewing purposes and I can’t wait to see what Lynsey Sands does next!
I love the Argeneau series and have read every one of the books. This was a great book and I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between Alasdair and Sophie was fantastic. Loved how Sophie felt so guilty because she was so attracted to Alasdair at the wedding even though she was there on a date. And then when they had sex, she thought something was wrong with her because she kept fainting. Alasdair was such a gentleman and all he wanted to do was make Sophie happy. Loved the uncles from Scotland and how they counted the number of dates Alasdair and Sophie had been on. Their three-date-before-sex theory was hilarious. Was totally surprised in the end about who was killing all the ones Sophie loved. Never would have guessed that one. I would love to see one of the uncles find their life mate. That would be a great one with the other three uncles hanging around all the time. Hoping for one of the books in the series to have Alasdair’s twin brother, Colle, find his life mate too! If you are looking for love, laughter, and suspense, then this is the series for you. Highly recommend!!
such a funny story and yet sad story. i loved these characters. i thought i had the bad guy pegged but had been so wrong. great twist. I need Colle's book now
Bad Luck Vampire is a wickedly insatiable force that is sure to send your world into a tail spin as it teases you with everything good and happy. This story left me with a happy heart and a content soul. I couldn't ask for more as I savored the incredible characters and basked in the stunning story line that kept me turning pages as fast as I could. Stories like these remind me why I enjoy reading so much.
Sophie has found her world difficult and disappointing. From losing family and friends to compromising on her very happiness, she finds herself at a major crossroads. Knowing who to trust will prove to be the different between life and death. Alisdair has walked through life with hope clutched tightly in his heart. Even when he felt like giving up, he just couldn't bring himself to let go completely. Now, he will reap the rewards of his perseverance if only he can convince his lady to trust in him and his undying love. If he can do that, then he will win everything he has ever wanted to the envy of those around him. Does Sophie have enough heart to give her trust to Alisdair, or will these two lost souls remain miserable and hopeless?
Watching Alisdair win Sophie's heart was part hilarious and part beyond sweet. They were both clumsy and cautious as they found their way to each other, but their hearts had no doubt that they were meant to be together. When you find such a soul deep connection and a love that will last a lifetime, then you have to do everything you can to keep it alive. They were a breath of fresh air as I have come off a recent book slump. I love their vulnerability and their honesty and their boldness. They are truly perfect for each other.
I have only read a couple of Lynday Sands books, but they have never failed to touch my heart and change me in some way. They shock my soul out of its complacency, and help to remind me of what really matters. I have found such inspiration and joy within the pages of her books, and I hope that trend continues.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this arc.
This has to be my favorite of this series so far, I loved reading about characters from previous books. His uncles were so over the top, I was laughing out loud at work. I was surprised by who the villain was.
Loved reading the mesmerizing and spellbinding paranormal story. Even though Sophie is on a date with another man, Sophie is instantly attracted to Alastair, and Alastair, an immortal, is overwhelmingly attracted to Sophie, his mate, but Sophie feels like she is cursed because everyone close to her ends up dying. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, full of suspense and romance, and a must read riveting love story written by the phenomenally talented, Lyndsay Sands.
Bite me now, i think I’m in love with Alistair McKenzie.
I’ve been reading this series by Lynsay Sands since 2010 and this book is in my top in the series.
Sophie thinks she’s cursed. Everyone she has loved has either died or been left in coma. When she meets Alistair McKenzie while on a date with another man so think it’s the curse.
I always love the storylines we get in the argeneau series. This is not just a smutty book with absolutely no plot. We get a bit of a mystery on why all these men in Sophie’s life keep dropping dead on her.
Now don’t get me wrong. The spice is still amazing! Beautifully written and makes you want your own immortal life mate.
Now I need a book with Colle and more of the meddling uncles 😅 The uncles gave me all my laugh out aloud moments.

I love Lynsay Sands Books. I really enjoyed Bad Luck Vampire. The book had all the staples that I have come to expect from Ms. Sands and her sense of humor was wonder it this story. I have to admit I was disappointed at the end of the book. The ending seemed a little abrupt and felt somewhat rushed. That being said I did enjoy the story and the characters were well fleshed out and engaging. I would recommend Ms. Sands books to anyone that enjoy a good Solid Romance novel whether it is paranormal or not. Keep Writing.

I just love this authors books especially this series. It doesn't get old at all. The characters make you wish they existed in real life. I'm always waiting when she writes new book for the series.
I totally love this series and this author. I hope this series continues for a long time yet. I can’t recommend this series and Lynsay Sands enough. I love that we get introduced to new characters with regularity and that we get to see how past characters are doing. I loved all the secondary characters especially the uncles. They were great and a source of a lot of laugh out loud moments
. I like how she finds new ways to have discussions on the background and basics of Immortals and Life Mates. I couldn't put this book down and read straight through cover to cover. The mystery was full of twists and turns and I didn't expect who the person was or why they did it. I hope she does Colle's story next.
I received an advanced copy and am giving an honest review.
Immortals, with fangs, who drink blood - but not vampires! The power of the nanos from Atlantis? Yep. Another engaging and suspenseful Argeneau tale - can't beat the combination of mystery, humor, and a steady burn - you will be turning the pages into the night.
This was my first vampire novel I have read by this author. I have read the authors other non paranormal books. I loved the premise of this book. The characters were top notch and I will be going back to read her backlist of vampire books. I would recommend this book to others.
This book had some laughs and a bit of a mystery!
I feel like one issue I have recently is they tend to just end so quickly, everything happening so fast in just 1 or 2 chapters to round out the book doesn't feel as smooth as it used to for some reason, and this romance felt a lot more rushed. I feel like by the end we didn't really learn much about Sophie except her job & medical history. I always enjoy the stories more when we learn some small things about them, this story I feel like It was definitely more focused on Alasdair than Sophie - especially with so much of his family all up in their business.
The book definitely stayed in his perspective for most of it, and I would really love to read more from Sophie.
Though I have to say one of my favorite parts was seeing a few lines involving Luka & Gemma! I can't believe the characters are already teenagers!
I had some thoughts on who the evil dooer of this book might be, I was between about 4 options and one of them was right (My husband also guessed it right away himself!) There's never a dull moment with these books, I will always love them.
One thing I really loved was there wasn't any sort of "time skip" honestly I'm glad they didn't go to Niagara Falls because it makes me feel we may have gotten a time skip where they'd go at the end of a chapter and the next chapter they'd be on their way home.
I really do feel this book was a bit too sped up though because everything happened all at once, finding the killer, her finding out about immortals, them declaring love. I just definitely prefer it be more gradual where they figure stuff out throughout the book as opposed to all at once!
I can't wait to read the next book in the series, there's so many people I still want to read about! Donny, Colle, Tybo and many more. This one is one I enjoyed a bit more compared to others that have released recently, I always say you could probably pick up the series almost at any book and know the basics, in this one though you met a few characters that we've known for so long I don't think that stops you from starting here.
Ok. I’ll admit it. I am totally hooked on this series and I hope it never ends. I love the Argeneau/Notte families. I am always excited when Lynsay Sands books are on NetGalley and I get to read them 🙂 In fact, this book inspired me to go back and read a few other stories that I had forgotten the details to. One of the best aspects of this series is that we continually get introduced to new characters and we get to see how past characters are doing. This is one of my favorite worlds that has been created in paranormal romance. This book revolves around Sophie and Alasdair. Sophie is a mortal that Tybo and Valerian help while they are on a stakeout. Tybo thinks she is cute, so he asks her to be a wedding date. Unfortunately for Tybo, it turns out she is Alasdair's life mate. Alasdair recently came from Scotland. He has a twin brother. Because of the wedding, Alasdair’s uncles come into town. His four uncles add a lot of humor to the story. Alasdair’s entire extended family is plotting to help him get the girl. It’s definitely one of the highlights of this book, in addition to all the Scottish accents and kilts.
There seems to be a run of bad luck in Alasdair’s life as he starts getting to know Sophie. First, he eats some bad shrimp and gets food poisoning and then shortly after that, someone tries to run him down with their car. His family starts to get suspicious that something other than bad luck is going on. I really do love all the twists and turns that happen during the “immortal”/ “life mate” discussions that happen in these stories. Sophie is funny, bold, smart and kind of feisty in the bedroom - which leads to some laugh out loud moments.
There are definitely a lot of spicy scenes. Life mate sex is one of the best inventions of this series. There is some tragedy, humor, mystery and thrills. Nothing better than a big family to help unravel it all. This book will be published on September 26, 2023. If you have been reading them in order, you have something to look forward to. If you haven’t read any books in this series, now is the time to get caught up! I can’t recommend it enough. Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books For sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
#netgalleyarc This was a fun, somewhat sweet, quick read. The books in this series are all romanced based, but this one was more romantic than the other books in the series have been lately. There was still the mystery/suspense aspect but this time they took a backseat to the romance. There was less adventure and chaos in this book, and I’m okay with it. A good overall read.
I've loved Sands' vampire series since book 1 and I am still interested this far into the series! That's saying something with me and my short attention span!
