Bookshop owner Scarlett is surprised when she discovers the lifeless body of a woman on the beach near her store. When she is told that she has inherited a fortune from this unknown person, she comes under suspicion of the woman's murder,

Her real or fabricated connection to the dead woman was a surprise in the plot, and Scarlett's efforts to solve the crime and clear her name are both humorous and entertaining.

One or two of the characters are caricatures, which creates some of the humor.

This beach side cozy mystery was an enjoyable afternoon's read.

Really fun to read, the mystery was pretty good. I'd love to read more books taking place in this world as the setting was one of my favorite things about it. I can recommend this to both readers of cozy mysteries and murder mysteries in general.

I enjoyed this book. I think it could make a good series. I enjoyed Scarlett and her roomie (I'm blanking on her name right now). Great setting and interesting mystery.

"Murder by the Seashore" by Samantha Yew is a great start to potential series. I could see the author writing a least a couple more books off of this one. There's enough info in this one to build a series off of or to leave it as a stand alone book.

I particularly enjoyed the character development between the women in this book. I appreciate that there wasn't a stereotypical mean girl that's expected to be a regular character. I hope this continues. We need more examples of people, especially woman to woman working out differences as mature adults.
