This was definitely not an easy read, however it did return full circle to find redemption which I felt was great with the subject matter. The main character has come from an extremely difficult and abusive childhood where she experiences a great amount of loss and pain. She returns to the scene of the crime to take care of her father and begins to discover the source of the issues that her mother and especially her father dealt with that led their family to ruin. I really struggled with the pacing of this book and the relationship with Jackson made no sense without background. I thought it was very powerful to see the resolution. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley.
Sleight by Sloane Kady.
How is love measured? By how much you're willing to bleed for another person? Do they show you one of those pain-rating scales and ask how much your relationship hurts? Point to the most anguished face and win a prize. At what point is it more humane to just rip each other's hearts out, instead of repeatedly cutting each other open with sharp words and lies?
An OK read. Slow but readable. 3*.
