What would you do, if disaster struck?
Two couples. A fatal accident. And a decision that changes everything…
Kirsten and Nick are enjoying a weekend away until, on their drive home, they accidentally run over and kill a man. They should call for help – but they have too much to lose, and no one can know the real reason they’re here. Instead, they make a split-second decision to conceal the accident.
Amy and Greg have just celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. Amy is expecting a baby, and they couldn’t be happier. So when Greg fails to come home from a dog walk one weekend, Amy knows the police are wrong to believe he left of his own accord. Someone must be behind Greg’s disappearance, and Amy won’t give up until she gets justice – or revenge.
Thank you HQ and Netgalley and sorry for not reading sooner.
I could not put this down - dark, compelling, and emotional.
Well written and I need more by this author please.
"The Other Couple" by Diane Jeffrey is a heart-pounding thriller that had me hooked from the very start. The story centres around Amy, a woman whose world is turned upside down when her husband disappears. I really felt for Amy as she navigated her grief and growing suspicions, especially with a baby on the way. The parallel storyline of Kirsten and Nick, a couple who make a life-altering decision after a hit-and-run accident, added another layer of suspense.
Jeffrey masterfully creates flawed and compelling characters - while I empathised with Amy, I found myself increasingly distrustful of Kirsten and Nick as the story unfolded. The plot kept me guessing with unexpected twists and turns, and the ending definitely didn’t disappoint. I especially enjoyed the way the author slowly revealed information, leaving me eager to uncover the truth.
Although some readers may find certain plot points to be a little unbelievable, I was swept up in the suspense and found the emotional journey of the characters to be captivating. If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers with shocking twists, I highly recommend adding "The Other Couple" to your reading list.
When I read The Silent Friend I knew I had to read the next Diane Jeffrey book. However I was a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong it was a great revenge story but I fear it was a little too slow in the pace for my liking.
A great twisty thriller that kept me hooked from the very start. Enjoyed the ending too. A clever read that draws you in and never lets up.
This book was a stark reminder that you never know when your life might be completely blown up. It’s hard not to be empathetic towards Amy, pregnant and have just lost her husband of ten years, and also feel her boiling rage. Amy is determined to get to the bottom of who killed her husband, and the fact that most of us would do whatever it takes to get the truth just spurred on my support.
But just how far will Amy go? The letters from an unidentified person scattered throughout the story keep you guessing. I really liked how the author divulged important information little by little, enough to feel you in and keep the suspense going, but not enough to make the outcome obvious. I certainly didn’t guess the ending.
This isn’t really a book about the characters, most of which are extremely unlikeable. It’s a book about revenge and closure, and just how far someone will go to get both.
If you believe the world and the obnoxious, uncaring world deserves a good dose of revenge from time to time, then this is a great book. How would you like it if your husband and dog disappeared into thin air while you were pregnant and you have no clue what happened. You are sad, scared, and suddenly alone. Two terrible people did this, and will do whatever they want at all costs if it covers their terrible secrets. The end was an explosion of a surpirise and I was not disappointed. Great read, highly recommended for this genre.
An addictive and heartpounding read. I couldn't put it down! Kind of dark and full of suspense! 5 stars!!!!
For the most part I thought this was an okay read. The premise is that Amy knows something has happened to her husband Greg, he would not just lose her. Amy becomes desperate to seek the truth and when she does who knows what will happen.
I did enjoy this and Jeffrey weaves a suspenseful plot that has a few surprising twists along the way. I always struggle a bit with this kind of book as I do not find all of the actions believable and there were a few moments in this where I was raising my eyebrows but there is definitely enough drama to hold any reader's attention.
I thought the characters were good and in different ways, I found Amy and Kirsten to be likeable. I felt for both of them and could feel myself torn in two as to what the correct ending should be.
There is a lot of emotion in this read which Jeffrey has captured really well. My interest was definitely held whilst reading this and I read it quickly as I wanted to know the resolution.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for an advance copy.
Amy and Greg have celebrated their wedding anniversary and the impending arrival of a new baby. While Amy cooks lunch Greg walks the dog but never returns. They have a cottage that they rent out and Kirsten and Nick have spent the weekend there. On their way home they have an accident. What have they done and where is Greg? The police are not a great help to Amy at the start and she takes matters in to our own hands. As she uncovers the clues she decides on getting revenge.
I loved this book from Diane Jeffrey. I really felt for Amy and I disliked Kirsten and Nick from the beginning. I was looking forward to seeing how Amy would get revenge.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for granting me an advance copy.
I raced through this book so fast it is electrifying and a edge of your seat style thriller.
I was glued to my kindle.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance copy of The Other Couple by Diane Jeffrey in exchange for my honest review and opinion. This book is absolutely one of the best books I have read this year! I loved everything about it and was unable to put it down. There are so many gasp out loud moments in it that will make you race to finish it so you can find out what is going to happen. Buckle up for the ending! I can't wait to read more by this author in the future.
A story on how things can quickly spiral out of control when people are in self perseverance. I really enjoyed this story it had me hooked til the end!
This is a compelling thriller about a couple who kill a dog Walker in a road traffic accident on a weekend away. As reporting it would reveal their illicit affair, they go to great lengths to conceal it, a decision with far reaching consequences offering ample opportunity for tension, anticipation and plot twists along the way.
With thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy.
I loved this book, great story and characters. Lots of twists & turns, and kept me gripped wanting to keep reading on. Would like to read more from this author.
I found this a tense and gripping read. The book opens with Kirsten and Nick on a romantic escape weekend and we soon realise that they are having an affair. On leaving the hotel it is pouring with rain and lose control of their car and run over a man out walking his dog. When they discover that the man is dead they decide that they have too much to lose if their relationship is revealed and their reputations tarnished if they are convicted of dangerous driving so Nick decides to dispose of the body and not contact the police. We then meet Amy who has just celebrated ten years of marriage to Greg and is expecting a baby. But her world falls apart when Greg fails to return home after walking their dog. The police think that he may have decided to leave and lead a new life but Amy knows that they had a solid marriage and he would not do that. Amy, with the help from Greg’s parents, realises that she will have to be the one who finds out what has happened to Greg and get justice and revenge. This was a compelling read with a clever plot and one or two twists and turns. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and HQ Digital for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Diane Jeffrey is back with a heart-twisting chiller that will keep readers up all night: The Other Couple.
Kirsten and Nick are on their way home after a weekend away – when on the drive home they accidentally run over a man and kill him instantly. Shocked at what just unfolded, the couple know that they should call someone for help, however, they know that once they call the authorities, they will lose everything – and they have far too much to lose. In a split second, they make the decision to conceal the accident and pretend like everything’s normal and that nothing happened. But the truth does have a habit of coming out – regardless of the extreme lengths one goes to to keep a secret hidden.
Amy and Greg are a couple on top of the world. They just celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary and are expecting a baby. Everything seems to be perfect for the two of them – until Greg fails to come home one weekend. Amy knows that her relationship with Greg is rock solid and he wouldn’t just walk out on her and despite the police telling her that he left of his own volition, she cannot shake off this feeling that there is a sinister reason behind his disappearance. Amy won’t rest until she gets to the truth and she will leave no stone unturned in order to get justice – even if it means getting her hands dirty.
Will a split second decision destroy everything for Kirsten and Nick? And will Amy’s quest for the truth end up being something she will end up regretting?
Diane Jeffrey is on fire with The Other Couple. Dark, tense and twisted, The Other Couple is an unpredictable, exciting and engrossing psychological crime thriller that sent plenty of chills racing down my spine. I gulped down this book in one irresistible sitting and I was reeling from shocking twist after shocking twist as I raced to the ending desperate to find out what was going to happen next.
A superb thriller from an outstanding writer, The Other Couple is a top-notch page-turner from the always fabulous Diane Jeffrey.
This book delivered on unexpected twists and turns.
It was easy to read and the main character was instantly likeable with a strong connection to her in-laws who provide support when needed. The start of the story is extremely sad from both the main characters' perspective and the readers. Then, the frustration at not being able to find answers is felt throughout.
The story keeps you gripped until the end and then continues to deliver until the last page. Would highly recommend.
This book was so good! It follows two women - one who is on a weekend away with her lover when they hit someone in the car and have to decide what to do; and the other who is the wife of the man who was hit. This novel gets going straight away with the accident happening very early in the book and then the story is all about the aftermath and how everyone behaves. Some of it is really shocking and some requires a little suspension of disbelief, but all the thoughts and feelings of the characters felt believable in the context of the story being told. I found this so hard to put down and ended up reading it in just two sittings! I recommend it!
Another new author I have discovered. Im really impressed with this one, so I will be reading her backlist. i loved every minute of this book. THis book is all about revenge.
