"Three May Keep a Secret if Two are Dead"

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it was advertised as a crime thriller. Initially I was hooked by the story line. Maggie, an ER physician is on duty when her husband arrives with a gunshot wound and is unable to be revived. She is later told that the gunshot was self-inflicted. Maggie has a hard time believing that her husband would end his life, and after his funeral she travels to their vacation home in Croatia. Almost immediately after her arrival, the postal service delivers a letter that was written by her husband 6 years ago, and given to an attorney to deliver to Maggie should he die before her. The letter contains a cryptic message about something that will hold the key to her future. It was at this point that the book became less intriguing for me.

The author had a great story line, but the execution fell flat for me because with each and every page, the story became less and less plausible. I do not mind to suspend belief for the sake of a story occasionally, but after so many 'close calls,' unexpected rescues, and more, it was just too unrealistic for me. I kept reading because I did want to see how things played out. The ending felt rushed, but the outcome was satisfying.

I understand that this author has a great series of detective novels and I would definitely give him the benefit of the doubt and read one or two of those.

Thank you Raven Street Publishing, NetGalley and the author for the Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.

Robert Bryndza has done it again with another brilliant story, "Fear the Silence." He has built a unique murder-mystery that will immediately hook you in.

The author has done a wonderful job developing great story characters that you will love and hate. The story takes place in England then transitions to a small isolated Croatian island. This is where Will designed their luxurious summer home built into a rock cliff overlooking the ocean. After Will's untimely death, Maggie travels to the island to take care of business regarding their estate. This is where the story's tension ratchets up keeping your heart-rate in overdrive. Will Maggie get off the island alive?

A wonderful read and a five star story. Thank you Robert Bryndza, Rave Street Publishing, and Net Galley for the opportunity to review this story. Congratulations its a winner!

I enjoyed previous books by this author but this one did not hit the mark for me. It was unbelievable in parts and improbable in others.. It just did not draw me in. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Robert Bryndza continues to write tense, edge of your seat books. Maggie leaves for work only to find hours later that her husband committed suicide. This leads her on a journey to find the reason why and what secret was he keeping? As Maggie unravels the clues it is apparent that the answer could very well lead to her own ‘suicide.’ Thank you Netgalley and Raven Street Publishing for an early copy of this book. This review is my opinion.

My thanks to Net Galley and Raven for the arc of this book to review.

Maggie is a trauma doctor who finds out her husband is brought in with a gun shot wound to the head and that he pulled the trigger. She does not believe that. After his death she travels to their family home in Croatia and receives a letter from beyond the grave with info pertaining to his death that leads her on a really wild and far fetched chase to discover the truth of his demise.

This book was just an ok. Very far fetched and unbelievable plot.

I was really looking forward to this book. It us undoubtedly well written ut I just found the plot completely improbable. I just found chunks of the book unbelievable and the plot had more holes than a lace hanky. Good as a beach read but I wouldn't recommend it if you're seriously into crime novels. I've given it 3 stars purely due to the quality of the writing

Maggie has a lovely life, a loving husband, a successful career as a doctor and a holiday home in Croatia. Then one day she is in the emergency room, only to find her husband is the patient brought in with severe gunshot wounds; he doesn't survive. She cannot believe he has taken his own life.

Maggie begins to try to rebuild her life, and goes to their holiday home to collect heirlooms his family want returned, only to find an envelope from her husband, directing her to the church. What she finds there sends her on a rollercoaster ride that threatens her life and those of her friends and family as she works out what has happened to her husband, leading to corruption at the highest level. Its an exciting read; a bit unbelievable in parts, but its a gripping tale and overall I enjoyed it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Maggie is searching for answers to prove her husband didn’t commit suicide. The journey puts her and her friends in grave danger. She finds allies in strangers and enemies all around. Her proof is compromised and she gives up her fight. However karma finds a way to deal with the true enemy.

First and foremost, a large thank you to NetGalley, Robert Bryndza, and Raven Street Publishing for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

Maggie Kendall is a reputable trauma surgeon who has experience keeping it cool. However, when a patient is rushed into the A&E with a gunshot wound, all coolness evaporates as soon as Maggie realises that it is her husband, Will. Frozen in place, Maggie can only wonder if Will was the victim of a home invasion. Once he dies on the table, Maggie is sure the hunt is on for the killer. That is turned on its head when police infirm Maggie that Will’s gunshot wound appears to have been self-inflicted.

Escaping to their other home in Croatia after the funeral, Maggie tries to piece it all together and determine what Will must have been going through to want to kill him self. She receives a letter, posted by Will’s solicitor, from six years ago, Will’s own handwriting fills the pages, in which he explains that he had made arrangements for Maggie to receive this upon his death. Maggie is pulled into a whirlwind of confusion, unsure why Will would orchestrate something so intense.

When she is attacked inside her own on a remote island, Maggie is sure that someone is targeting her for what Will knew. She tries to escape, but is unable to flee without numerous scrapes and bruises. When she tries to get back to the UK, her plans are sidetracked and she becomes a missing person. Left with little idea what’s going on, Maggie will need to reach the authorities to share her news, though she might be dead before it comes to pass! Bryndza is brilliant once again.

While I have loved reading some of Robert Bryndza’s series work, it is nice to see that he can be just as impactful with standalone work. The narrative basis of the book builds effectively throughout the piece, keeping the reading guessing what awaits around each corner. Characters find themselves keeping the story moving as they offer perspective and flavouring, needed for a standalone, as the reader has no basis for past remembrances. Plot lines are numerous and well-placed, keeping the story moving with a psychological undertone. Bryndza’s traditional writing style emerged and thickens the story’s plot at just the right moments.

Kudos, Mr. Bryndza, for another great story. I could not ask for more!!

What can I say? I'm absolutely not a fan of this book. Maggie is an ER/trauma doctor at a local hospital and one of the first patients through the door the night the story begins is her husband Will. He is considered a suicide, having died from a gunshot wound through his mouth, but Maggie has a hard time with that diagnosis, having just spent a wonderful day with her husband and no indication of depression or mental problems. Some time later, she travels to their vacation home on an island in Croatia to close it up for the winter, and the trouble begins. For some reason she was compelled to go during the off season, where the ferry to/from the island is only weekly, and very few people are on the island. Cue the creepy music - one scary thing after another happens. But somehow people show up when she needs them, miraculously. And there is a person involved in these events that seems so random as to be unbelievable. I just can't stretch my imagination far enough to find this story believable or relatable. There has to be something to latch onto for me to enjoy a book, and this one was sadly lacking. The writing was good and I give this 3 stars for that, but the plot and characters seemed weak.

My copy of this ARC was provided by NetGalley and the publisher; the opinions expressed are strictly my own.

This is a brilliant stand-alone thriller from one of my favourite crime writers.
When Maggie’s husband is found shot dead at their London home, she finds it difficult to accept the police verdict of suicide. After the funeral, she travels to Croatia to close up their holiday home and bring back their belongings. However, nothing feels quite as it should and things start to go wrong. A cryptic message from her husband’s solicitor leads her to ask a friend to do her favour. The friend is then involved in a hit and run which leaves her fighting for her life and Maggie begins to wonder just what her husband was involved with.
The plot is fast moving with so many twists and turns that you have really have to concentrate to keep track of them. Maggie doesn’t know who she can trust and neither do we which makes for a very unsettling read. I couldn’t put it down and loved the final resolution.
Thank you to Net Galley and Raven Street Publishing for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I read Fear The Silence over the weekend and loved it. It’s a standalone thriller that is gritty, fast paced and drew me in from the first page. Having loved the author’s previous series, I was eager to see how this plot unfolded and wasn’t disappointed. Great twists and chapters that built the tension with each turn of the page translated into one of my favourite books this year. Thank you to NetGalley, Raven Street Publishing and the author for the chance to review.

Robert Bryndza is what I class as a quality author, you know, if you are lucky enough to read one of his books, you are in for a treat. This book was no exception-this book lived up to the author's usual high standard.

I’m a big fan of the other books written by Robert Bryndza, so I was really excited when I got the chance to read the ARC of his new, stand-alone thriller.

Maggie’s life is going smoothly, up until the day that her husband dies of a gunshot wound. The police classify it as a suicide, but Maggie has a hard time believing this. Could her husband really have chosen to end his own life or is there something Maggie didn’t know about?

I love this author’s writing style, but I didn’t get hooked as quickly as I did to other books by this author. At the start, I also had a difficult time connecting to the characters. Maybe this was because I’m so used to reading about the characters we’ve known for a while. Or maybe I didn’t ‘click’ with these characters the way I did with Erika Foster or Kate Marshall. The slower start and the disconnection I felt with these characters had me scared for a while, but then the story started to develop.

Once the story really started, I got hooked. I felt suspense, curiosity and aversion (to the actions of some characters). The more I learned about the story, the more I wanted to find out what a dirty game had been played. Even though it might have been a bit predictable, the story still made me raise my brow a few times. There were some moments when I thought I had it all figured out, only to find out that there were even more twists. In my opinion, it is a very clever story. And that story alone made me give this book 4 stars. Robert Bryndza has written better characters before, but the story is one of the best I’ve read by him so far. I highly recommend this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for the ARC of this book!

Fear the Silence is a book that grabs you and won't let go. The setting is in London and a Croatian Island which builds a lot of suspense. This psychological thriller is about a doctor Maggie who married into the upper class Kendall family. She found out this family had secrets. When Will is killed, was it really a suicide? Lots of strange things happen and come together. Don't miss this book!

💭 NEED a twisty thriller you can binge in a day? Look no further 👀

For lovers of THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME, @rob is releasing his first stand alone thriller next month. You WON’T want to miss it! It’s no secret I am a huge fan of Robert’s work- the Erika Foster books will always be one of my most loved + recommended series and FEAR THE SILENCE has all its signature traits + more! 🤩

Set in dual locations of London and the dreamy coast of Croatia, emergency doctor, Maggie’s world is rocked when her husband is brought into her hospital with a fatal gunshot wound, which is ruled a suicide. After his funeral, Maggie travels to their holiday home where she hopes to find peace and can begin to accept what has happened. But what she finds there is something else entirely… Did her husband have *dark* secrets? Was it really suicide? 😬🫣

What. a. ride. An utterly compulsive, fast paced, thrilling read that will have your heart pounding throughout. The book was SO atmospheric you will literally feel you are in every scene! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I'm seeing all the wonderful reviews, but unfortunately, I'm not raving mad about this book. I absolutely adored Devil's Way, so maybe my issue is that I was expecting too much?

Maggie is a A&E lead surgeon and her life is suddenly ripped apart when her husband seems to have committed suicide. It doesn't make any sense to her, but she has no choice but to mourn her beloved partner. She travels to Croatia to close their holiday home and to bring back some heirlooms to the UK. There she starts to find very troubling messages and there are multiple attempts on her life. From then on the story takes a whole different turn that I didn't expect. It becomes very fast paced with explosions, a killer for hire, corrupt law enforcement, secret service agents and all based on a political intrigue. I felt that the fast twists and turns and the take on a political thriller were at the detriment of character and believable plot building.

I will absolutely read other Robert Bryndza books as I stay convinced that he is a great writer with a vivid imagination, but unfortunately, this standalone wasn't for me.

Thank you NetGalley, Raven Street Publishing and the author for an ARC in exchange for a review.

Robert Bryndza does not do things by half - this is another classic book by him with twists and hooks to keep you guessing from the first page to the last. I love his style of writing and can easily read his books in one sitting until the small hours, and this was no exception.

The spooky setting was perfect and Maggie was an incredibly likeable character. The ending was also a joy as sometimes novels of this nature can leave so much up to interpretation, but this was a satisfying ending.

All in all - read i!
