This author just has it. Each of his books are so vivid and always with great characters.

I always appreciate all the work he puts into the story as I feel that all the research that goes into the books pays off

I am a big fan of Robert Bryndza so when I saw there was a new book, I couldn’t wait! Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC!

Maggie is a trauma doctor working the night shift when a suicide victim comes in, and it turns out to be her husband Will. She then receives a letter he sent her upon his death, and her life turns even more upside down.

Dark, tense, and kept me on edge the whole time. It’s hard to tell who to trust and who is out to get Maggie. Complex and likeable (and unlikeable) characters. Great fast paced read! I can’t recommend Robert Bryndza’s books enough!!

Fear The Silence is a rip-roaring read from the pen of Robert Bryndza. Maggie's husband Will commits suicide and the first she knows of it is when his body is brought in to the hospital where she works. She he had no reason to suspect he was suicidal as they lived a happy and fulfilled life together, both in the UK and at their designer holiday home on the island of Tišina off the Croatian coast. It was on the island that Maggie's suspicions were aroused from the delivery of a letter. A letter Will had written for her and forwarded by his solicitor, in the event of his demise. What follows next is a treasure hunt for further clues and a pursuit which forces her to return to the UK. Sadly, the story loses some credibility when Maggie confronts her Nemesis. Bearing in mind what we know about the ruling classes from points on a driving licence to embarrassing parties where the leaks to the media only match the leaks from the bottles, me thinks Bryndza credits Maggie's Nemesis with more unchallenged power than is credible. Anyway, there is rather a satisfying ending.

In his research for the book, I can imagine Robert Bryndza looking at the location shooting of Mamma Mia! Here we go again. A lot of the scene locations were on the Croatian island of Vis but the mysterious island of Tišina is probably taken from the name of a beautiful beach on the Croatian island of Krk. Furthermore Robert makes mention of Andro, the taxi driver, playing the soundtrack of Mamma Mia!

If you want a fast, uncomplicated thriller that keeps you turning the pages in to the small hours, then this is for you.

What a terrific stand alone novel. Very intense and 'unputdownable'! I read it in (almost) one sitting. The words flow easily and it is a truly gripping read with an intelligent plot. I have not read any books by this author but I will certainly look out for them.
Thank you to Net Galley and Raven Street Publishing for providing me and ARC of this novel.

Will and Maggie have been married a long time. When they were younger, they concentrated on their careers as doctors rather than having children. Maggie is now a trauma surgeon at St Thomas Hospital. Will used to be a Forensic pathologist but left and is now a property developer. The couple have never been happier.
When Maggie is working a late shift, she discovers the body of a husband Will at the hospital. Apparently, he committed suicide by shooting himself at their home in the office. But Maggie can’t understand as firstly her husband doesn’t own a gun and he was happy. He didn’t show any signs of being suicidal. Did he really take his own life or was he murdered?
Maggie is distraught and needs time to get over his death, so she takes some leave and head their holiday home in a remote island of Croatia. Where this time of year the island is closed and there is only the island caretaker and his son living there.
When she arrives, strange things start to happen. She hears footsteps in the night, and she nearly drowns herself in the pool. Is someone out to get her like they did Will?
Thank you, Raven Street publishing, for a copy of ‘Fear the silence’. I have been a big fan of Robert Bryndza’s work since his first novel ‘The girl in the ice’. So, I couldn’t wait to read his first standalone novel and I wasn’t disappointed. The author’s work keeps getting better and better. This is a great read involving murder and intrigue and government corruption. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait for more. 5 stars from me.

At first, Fear the Silence seemed like it was going to be a great thriller. A doctor's husband shows up in the ER with a fatal bullet wound. She immediately assumes he's been killed. Her world is turned upside down when the police and autopsy determine it was a suicide.

She takes time off work to grieve and manage the estate. And also to figure out what really happened with her husband. She's on a summer island in Croatia, where their vacation home is. It seems like the home is out to kill her. Then a person. Whatever, at this point, things started to get annoying to me. Every few pages some new attack occurs. Our protagonist is under such chronic threat that it felt ridiculous. And then there was a sex scene that made me irritated beyond belief.

I didn't care to see where this story went. It might be for you, but I found it all a bit too much. Do not recommend. Sorry - hate to do this when I have the pleasure of an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was an exciting, fast-paced story that I thoroughly enjoyed! Maggie is devastated after losing her husband to a supposed suicide. Things quickly accelerate and leave her with many questions, as well as running for her life. A great story!

The premise is simple. ER room doctor Maggie is confronted with her own husband Will's unexpected and unexplained suicide. Everything points to him having taken his own life. But she can't accept this. When she goes to clear out their vacation home on a remote Croatian island after the end of tourist season, clues start to emerge that there were secrets Will was keeping from her. And the powerful person whose secret could be devastating will go to any length to prevent this from happening.

Wow, what a fantastic suspense thriller. It took me by the throat from the first page and never let up. With each twist, when I thought the heroine was going to break through, it just got worse. Every situation seemed more hopeless than the last. Until the twist at the end. I'd never read a book by Bryndza before, but it's safe to say this won't be my last. This is well worth your time, unless you fear the silence.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in return for an honest review.

The phrase unputdownable is much used in book reviews, but I think it was created for this book.

Every one its short sharp, powerful chapters pulls you in and leaves you wanting more.
I love the authors Erika Foster and Kate Marshall Books, this one exceeds all he has done before. I believe this is his first standalone thriller, I sincerely hope its not his last..

The holiday island in the off season is unimaginably creepy- from the lone caretaker and his son to the weather closing in, the squalling winds and rough seas lend themselves to a spine chilling setting despite the luxury of the house.
When the suicide of her husband is thrown into question things escalate for Maggie at an incredible pace and the anticipation of what will happen next will have the pages turning late into the (hopefully not too creepy) night!

The story gripped hold of me from the start, and didn’t let up until the satisfying conclusion. Robert Bryndza created an atmosphere that was creepy taught with intensity that didn’t let up. I was on the the edge of my seat with anticipation. A page turner that I had a hard time putting down I read it in a day. I didn’t know what character could be trusted. I was cheering for Maggie to come out of this a stronger woman. Highly recommend, I think fans of Karin Slaughter and Angela Marions will enjoy this stand alone thriller.

A special thanks to Raven Street Publishing and NetGalley for the arc of Fear the Silence by Robert Bryndza in exchange for a honest review.

I usually read at bedtime each night, but the need to know how this would end had me reading both day and night. Such an interesting book with great characters. It really kept me guessing what would happen next.

An interesting read with suspense, murder and politics. It was not as unpredictable as I would have liked, but still a solid read.

This was my first Robert Bryndaz, but it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the suspense and twists and turns. Maggie was sure her husband Will didn't commit suicide, although all the evidence indicated this was the case. I was a little confused as to why when she arrived at her holiday home on the island she was scared all of a sudden, but got over that and really got into the story. There were many players and Maggie felt alone and didn't know who she could trust. As the story was face paced and exciting it was quick to read. Well worth the time.

I have slowly started reading Bryndza’s Erika Foster series and have become a fan! I was super excited to read this standalone thriller of his!

Maggie is left confused and grief stricken when her husband shoot’s himself in their
London home. After the funeral, she goes to visit their small island home and that’s where the real mystery begins as to what really happened to her husband.

I found this book’s storyline to be fresh and clever. I wasn’t really sure who to trust. There was even some action too! 4 solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks to NetGalley & Raven Street Publishing for the ARC!

Exciting, edge-of-your-seat read from page one. Raced through the book in three days even though I am a slow reader. Great characters that feel real, even in a situation that becomes menacing. I appreciated that the female protagonist did not do "non-female" things, like run out to confront danger single-handedly. There are other great examples of the author getting the action "gender-correct", (often a big complaint of mine personally in suspense novels.) The people change over time, even though the time span is relatively compressed, which again adds to authenticity of the characters and action. Emotions experienced also ring true-to-form.
Set primarily in London and on an island off Croatia, the author gives the reader a feel for what life is like in those locations. Descriptions of Croatia are particularly enticing.
Story line is all too believable with what is happening these days in international politics.
New to this novelist, I will definitely look for his other novels to read!

Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, espionage ,A bit of a who done it, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I requested this title because of the 5 star reviews that the author's other books have received. With that said, the first few chapters pulled me in, however unfortunately the rest of the book just didn't make sense. I did not care for the characters and I felt that the story was confusing and not explained completely. You knew our heroine was in trouble - but didn't know exactly why. To be honest I wasn't going to finish reading the book, but I persevered and continued reading to the end.

For me this was at best a 3 star book. I will, however, give other books from this author a chance, Especially his Erika Foster series, which have gotten 5 star reviews.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was definitely a page-turner, with one thing after another happening to Maggie, the main character. But in the end I felt like I didn’t learn much about her aside from what happened to her.
