A quick and easy read with a slow burn romance which felt authentic. Fleur is a people pleaser but this has led to some really bad choices in relationships, one of those being Jasper. When she dares to voice her opinion on a walking holiday in Snowdonia, he dumps her, leaving her homeless and jobless.

Fortunately, the wonderful owners of the hotel offer her a job with accommodation and mountain guide son Matt becomes her friend and someone who she can be herself with. She grows in confidence and finds the strong person hiding behind the people pleaser.

At times I found the story a little repetitive and I felt there was a plot discrepancy towards the end but overall I liked the pace of the story and the romance was very sweet.

I was invested in this story right from the start and I loved Fleur, even though I wished she had been stronger at the start of the story where Jasper was concerned. What a piece of ...!
Matt was perhaps too good to be true, but also dealing with stuff. I really liked him and thought he was a good match for Fleur so I was rooting for Fleur not just to find herself, but also to fall for Matt. I loved the setting in Snowdonia and could easily picture it. This story wasn't smooth sailing as is often the case in this genre.
I found the writing brilliant, so much so that I forgot it was fiction and found myself moved to tears by parts of it.

To find true love, first you have to truly love yourself…

Fleur French does not have the best of luck when it comes to life and love, and her current boyfriend Jasper is yet another person who only seems to like Fleur when she moulds herself into his idea of the perfect partner. So, when she finds herself single, jobless and homeless, Fleur has to decide if she’s ready to finally be herself – if only she knew who that was.

Matt Morgan saw things he’ll never forget when he was deployed in the military, but now back home in Wales, the recuperative powers of the stunning countryside are working their magic. And when Fleur takes a job at his mother’s hotel, Matt senses she could benefit from that same magic – if only Fleur realised it too.

It’s hard to be yourself, when you’ve never felt you quite fitted in. But with new days come new opportunities, and as Fleur begins to flourish and find out who she really is, her luck in love might be about to change too.

My Opinion

Fleur is on holiday with her boyfriend Jasper when she first meets Matt, a local tour guide. Following an argument, Fleur finds herself without a boyfriend, a job and a home. Maxine Morrey has written a wonderful book as we witness Fleur's self-discovery and watch as she gains confidence.

An enjoyable, quick read. A charming escape from reality.

You’ve Got This - Maxine Morrey.
Poor Fleur, she’s had a rough time of things in many ways.
Being dumped by the odious Jasper feels like the end of the world, but gives Fleur the platform to rebuild herself.
In the beauty of the Welsh hills, tour guide Matt and his family take Fleur under their wing and set about rebuilding this broken little soul.

This was the first book that I’ve read by Maxine Morrey and I thourghly enjoyed it.

The setting of this book is stunning. The Welsh hills and surrounding countryside are breathtaking.
Being Welsh I’m maybe a little biased, but I love reading books that are set in Wales. There is always something special about them. A magic and charm that only Wales can offer.

I enjoyed the characters that Maxine Morrey created. They are a wonderful mix.
Fleur is sweet and vulnerable. She goes on quite a journey, where she begins to find who she really is.
Matt is a solid character. Sometimes a little blunt, but fair and kind. He is also dealing with his own demons from the past.

Largely this book doesn’t deliver any major shocks. There is a nice little twist, but I think generally it’s clear where the story is heading.
That isn’t a bad thing though. The journey to the end is well written and enjoyable.

You’ve Got This, is an easy, pleasant and charming read.
This book is a perfect way to lose yourself for a few hours.
Feel good and heartwarming.

My first book by this author.
I felt a little bit old for this book.
It was sweet but the FMC was immature and it irritated me.
The plot was a bit all over the place... it had its high moments but they just didn't last and it was at times hard to get through.
I'm glad Fleur found her voice in the end and her journey to self discovery was interesting and heartwarming.

Fleur is dragged on a hiking trip with her current boyfriend and employer, Jasper, but when she finishes the hiking she will be jobless, homeless and boyfriendless. But it is Matt’s family who soon take her in, and as their friendship develops Fleur is able to find and grow in herself rather than just trying to always fit in.

Morrey gives us an easy read where all readers know how they want this narrative to end, I couldn’t help but dislike Jasper, cheer for Matt and feel my heart warm for Fleur. This was a really heartwarming book that I would highly recommend for an enjoyable read.

This is the second of Maxine Morrey’s books that I have read, and as with the first I loved it. It is easy to read and has feel-good storyline and wonderful characters.

Fleur is unwillingly in Wales with her boyfriend, Jasper, but before the end of the trip she finds herself single, homeless, jobless and stranded. Her luck appears to have changed though when she is taken in by the hotels owner and her family, including walking guide, Matt. Fleur, with the help of her new friends and the mountains, sets about discovering who she really is after spending her life trying to fit into what she thinks is expected of her.

This book was filled with warmth and a feel-good factor.

The start of the book we see Fleur unhappy and trying to mould herself into Jasper’s expectation, and throughout we join her on her journey of finding her inner strength and belief in herself. I found myself cheering for Fleur as her confidence grew and she was able to stand up for herself. I also loved Matt as a character, supportive and protective of Fleur, and he sounded like an absolute delight as well as facing his own inner battles.

What also drew me in was the setting. Based in Snowdonia, and the talk of hiking is something that connected with me and how this helps Matt and now Fleur with their mental health. I am a huge advocate of this.

I couldn’t help but smile throughout this book, and I’m looking forward to reading more of Maxine’s books.

I'm a huge fan of Maxine Morrey's books, so shockingly this won’t be an unbiased review, it’s going to be completely and unashamedly biased and gushing about her wonderful, poignant, thought provoking stories which make me emotional but always happy by the end when I read them.

I thought this was as fantastic as all my previous reads by Maxine, the characters are well written, fully fleshed and have a depth. Fleur is a wonderful leading character who I adored and connected with her past meant she suffers abandonment issues which who wouldn’t with that ! But due to this she becomes whatever she thinks people want to keep her in their lives. I loved watching her grow, accept herself and discover who she wanted to become for herself.

I also liked Matt, Fleur stole my heart, but Matt was a character you warmed to as Fleur did and I loved that although he was blunt, he meant no harm, he was just very honest, but along with this he was so kind, and watching their friendship blossom, well itwas lovedly, I love a slow burn and even better when its a fresh start for them , both in life and love.

The books pace and story were just lovely, smooth like the developing relationship of the characters, building up its pace as it goes and then you get the wonderful twist, it’s a beautiful read about found family, finding who you are, acceptance and new starts. The simple truth that home is more than just bricks and mortar, whilst the families we choose are often more than blood. I wholeheartedly recommend this to you and any of Maxine’s previous books if you want a book that will make you think and feel.

Fleur is on a hiking trip with her boyfriend Jasper when he tells her that the relationship is over. So Fleur finds herself single, homeless and jobless. Fleur ends up getting a job at Matt's mother's hotel. The sparks begin to fly and things will get hot. I loved this romantic feel good story. Fleur is a fun character who I really liked she made me smile a lot. As did the laid back Matt. The story is simple but it certainly is full of fun and feel good moments.

You’ve Got This is another charming feel good romance by Maxine Morrey.

I adore Maxine’s books; they always leave me feeling oh-so-happy. You’ve Got This was another charming, sweet romance that I could not put down. I loved joining Fleur as she starts this journey of learning to find out who she truly is. At the beginning of this book, Fleur has hit rock bottom yet again. Her terrible boyfriend has just dumped her, then kicked her out of their flat and fired her from her job (he is also her boss). Fleur doesn’t know what she is going to do or where she is going to go. But fate has plans for her, and they come in the form of sweet and gorgeous Matt and his family, who offer Fleur a job at their hotel. Fleur, of course, takes the job and soon finds herself making new friends and learning to live her life on her own terms.

This story is full of laughter, love, friendship, and romance. I adored all of it. I ate up all the lush and vivid descriptions of Wales. It felt like I was there with Fleur and Matt as they hiked along all the different trails in the area. It reminded me of when I lived in England and went on various hiking day trips. The countryside over there is breathtaking. Matt was utterly charming and had my heart beating a little faster. I loved the way he treated Fleur. He was such a sweetheart, and I loved that calm, steady presence he offered Fleur. He was always there to support when she needed it.

The romance in this book is a delightful mix of friends to lovers and slow burn. Fleur and Matt become almost instant friends right from the beginning of the book. Watching these two hang out and have heartfelt conversations was so lovely. It really built this wonderful foundation for their future romantic relationship. Maxine did a great job with the slow-burn part of their relationship. There were so many moments in this book when I thought these two would finally kiss. I had to keep on reading because I wanted to see what would happen next between these two.

You’ve Got This is a delightful, charming romance and a perfect book for this spring.

I am such a huge fan of Maxine Morrey and having already read and loved Just Say Yes, You Only Live Once and Things Are Looking Up, I knew I was going to love You’ve Got This! just as much, and I wasn’t wrong. I absolutely loved this story which focuses on the main character, Fleur. We are first introduced to Fleur when she is on a hiking weekend away with her boyfriend, Jasper. As we quickly discover, Jasper is not a very nice person or boyfriend and treats Fleur so badly.

Over dinner, Fleur discovers just how horrible Jasper is when he ends their relationship in public – leaving Fleur at the hotel on her own, but worse is yet to come when she also realises that she doesn’t have a job or a home anymore – as Jasper, with his controlling behavior decided it would be better if she moved in with him, and he also gave her a job at his company. Not knowing what to do, or even how she will get home, Fleur feels broken. The incredibly kind and caring family who run the hotel step in to help Fleur when she needs it most.

Offering Fleur a job as a waitress in the hotel and even somewhere to stay, Fleur decides to take a chance and give it a try – moving from London to Wales is a huge culture change for her, but maybe it is exactly what she needs. The entire family makes Fleur so welcome and reassures her that she is part of their family now, which helps Fleur begin to settle into life in Wales.

Another big part of Fleur feeling so settled is Matt – their friendship blooms so quickly and he is the one person that Fleur feels so relaxed around. Could it be more than friendship between them, or does Fleur need more time to heal after her past relationship with Jasper?

You’ve Got This! is a beautiful and heartwarming read. The characters are so incredibly well written, their stories are so real and their emotional journies of healing past hurt and trauma are so beautifully touching. For me, I think this story is one of the best I have read in a really long time, so much so that I re-read the last few chapters over again. You’ve Got This! needs to be added to your TBR pile!

Fleur has a complicated background and in many ways, this book is the story of her beginning to find out what sort of person she really is. She has always agreed with people in order for them to like her and to accept her. The acceptance she finds amongst Matt’s family gives her the confidence to actually speak her mind.

Set near Snowdon in North Wales, the environment is almost another character. It offers a healing facial to people and is somewhere that has helped Matt overcome his issues following his military service. This is an enjoyable read with some lively characters not all of whom are particularly likeable. There is plenty to see about family, both the blood ties and the sort you choose for yourself.

In short: home is where the heart is

I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this story, it was such an easy read and after i had finished reading it i was left with a warm and happy heart.

I have read a few books by this author and have never been disappointed and this one was no exception either.

I absolutely loved the character of Fleur, she was wonderful, interesting and resilient and i really enjoyed being with her on her life’s journey.

You’ve Got This was a slow burn trope, which i really enjoyed and it had just the right amount of romance and emotion and was the most perfect escapist read…….

After a day hiking in the Welsh hills with her odious boyfriend Jasper, Fleur finds herself dumped, jobless and homeless. Luckily she lands on her feet, finding herself a job and a home at the hotel she's staying with, owned by the parents of Matt, the hunky ex-army guide.

I'm a huge fan of Maxine Morrey's quiet, thoughtful and often poignant books, focussing on female characters undergoing a transition (often forced upon them) and their growth as they come out the other side. Fleur, who was abandoned as a baby and raised in children's homes, is no exception. She's coasted from relationship to relationship; becoming a chameleon, moulding herself to her boyfriends out of fear of being abandoned.

Unfortunately for me this book just didn't quite land plot-wise which I think really impacted on this book's pace and story. It was like two books being crammed into one, when they could've been better integrated.

A major development for Fleur is built up, then fizzles out, then suddenly is taken back up as part of the third act. There was no time for those relationships to develop in a way that would be in keeping with the characters. I'd have much preferred if this plotline was explored much earlier and perhaps been the main storyline for Fleur's development with the romance plot a secondary one.

The final chapters then had more added drama is thrown in because 'woops we need to resolve this development', that also felt unsatisfying.

I also found it irritating to have her best friend (and another character) actively pushing Matt as a love interest to embarassing levels, despite knowing Fleur needs time to re-group. For once I'd just like supporting characters to respect their friends. I actually enjoyed the best friend character but it made their scenes repetitive with her nagging Fleur to get with Matt.

However, while this book didn't land for me, it was still an enjoyable read. Maxine Morrey is still an auto-buy author for me, unfortunately this book just wasn't my cuppa this time around. But if you like complicated, interesting female characters, I do think this is worth a read.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy of You've Got This by Maxine Morrey. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC.

I had problems connecting with the female lead. Fleur was nice but a tiny bit whiny, always talking about how she wanted to make changes. But was often slow to implement things that would cause changes. Yes, there was some personal growth, but I felt it was poorly paced. So while the story didn't work for me, I think other readers might like it more, so will still recommend it. I give this book 3/5 stars.

This story begins set in Wales with Fleur going on vacation with her jerk of a boyfriend Jasper but they quickly break up. Enter Matt, the hiking tour guide along with his lovely family who offer her a job and apartment and fresh start. Fleur has a complicated background and feels broken and rejected. It was nice to see her accepted and watch her grow.

I adored Matt. While he was blunt he was also honest and patient and kind. The friendships that formed were so nice. This reminds me of a second chance at life and love.

As for what I didn’t like— the pacing was really off kilter in my opinion. It either felt rushed or slow. It was really quite maddening at times. It was hard to feel any relationship working with Fleur because she was a doormat for so much of the book. She needed more time to develop individually. Then the twist happens with her family and it was rushed. I did have a little difficulty adjusting to some of the language differences between America and Wales.
