This book was sweet and calming to read, like most Amish titles are. In many ways, I would have preferred to get to know the characters more, but overall the story was pretty good. I do have to note that one of the best things about this title was the cover art.

Nate inherits the property next to Becca’s and they get off on the wrong foot when he proposes to buy her farmstand and she has no intention of selling. Of course, there’s a romance brewing that neither wants to acknowledge. Both are grieving the death of their mates, and Nate’s also struggling to raise his younger teenage brother. They end up helping each other, growing close along the way.

I enjoyed seeing Becca and Nate’s feelings grow, and each helping each other without taking over. Becca needed that with her mother’s doubts over her handling the orchard on her own and Nate needed to realize he could do a good job with his brother. Nate’s doubts over letting love back in and his ability to care for his brother were a bit repetitive, and I wished the romance was developed more instead of one minute they’re reluctant friends/neighbors and then they’re together. I did enjoy the added bits of mystery and suspense surrounding fires and destruction in their town. The story was easy going and heartwarming with supportive family, friends, and community.

I alternately read and listened to Thanksgiving Blessing. Lauren Pedersen did a wonderful job narrating. I listened at my usual 1.5x normal speed.

Sweet and Endearing

Thanksgiving Blessing is a very sweet and endearing story. It's the story of two people, Rebecca King and Nathan Mueller, who have each faced a huge loss in their lives. Although they have that in common, the similarity ends there. For one, Rebecca has children and is surrounded by family. Nathan, on the other hand, has no children, and his only family is a younger brother that he is raising. Another difference is that Nathan's grief has caused him to have serious trust issues that deeply affect his relationships, but the grief has not affected Rebecca in that way.

These two grieving souls find themselves being thrown together time after time. Even with their differences, they begin to forge a relationship that makes for a very interesting and entertaining story. It is a story that will tug at your heart strings but will also make. you smile. Most importantly, it will also leave you with a deep message of faith and healing. It is a beautiful second chance story that is an absolute must read.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.

Rebecca King cannot even imagine expanding her business, since she is a widow, raising her twins and keeping her orchard afloat. Her roadside vegetable stand is also destroyed, which means Rebecca must accept help from her neighbor, Nathan Mueller.

Nathan truly wanted to help Rebecca, but he is afraid that he insulted Rebecca. He is also a widower and single parent.

By working side by side, their friendship grows. When Thanksgiving approaches, Rebecca and Nathan begin to understand the meaning of the holiday - gratitude and family.

This was a cute second chance romance, and the final book in this series. They were brought together.

I truly enjoyed this story! I felt like this author did a great job at portraying the Amish in a realistic fashion. I have read some authors whom did not seem to capture some of the most basic beliefs and behaviors of the Amish, and this took a lot away from my full ability to enjoy the storyline. Ms. Perry clearly did some basic research and did a wonderful job with a more realistic character development.

I loved all the twins in this story! I loved how the characters were brought together, and given a chance for redemption after having experienced so much loss and struggles to try to move forward in life amidst judgement and other peoples choices. All in all, I just loved this storyline! I will absolutely be seeking more by this author!

Thank you so much, Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group, for this opportunity to read this story in exchange for an honest review.

The Thanksgiving holiday, a romance between a pair who’ve been through grief and parenting alone, and a mystery in their Amish community had me eager to pick up this latest from already familiar author, Marta Perry.

The book is a standalone from two different series as sixth in the Promise Glen series and third in Amish Holiday series. I have not read any previous books from either series though I do plan to rectify that, but I had no trouble slipping into Rebecca and Nathan’s story.

Thanksgiving Blessing actually starts during the harvest season well before Thanksgiving. Poor Rebecca is determined to keep the family farm afloat as well as run the vegetable stand, but the mysterious wanton destruction within the Amish community hits her, too. I enjoyed seeing reluctant Rebecca accept Nathan as a partner at the stand, see the way he handled children, and thaw toward the poor man who thinks she’s something special even with her rambunctious twins.

I read a trilogy by the author a while back and loved that series. I always wanted to read more of her books because of the thoughtful way she writes her characters, their growth, the various types of relationships developed, delicious meals and Amish crafts, and that smidge of suspense to pique my interest further. All that was not a fluke. Thanksgiving Blessing has the beautiful and warm inspirational Amish landscape and lifestyle woven through, the engaging characters, their need to grow and how they grow together, family, and the solid mystery of who and why for the vandalism. The culmination with the Thanksgiving holiday at the end of the story and all being right for Rebecca and Nathan fulfilled the promise of the holiday element of the romance, too. I recommend this one for those who love sweet slow-burn romance, Amish romance, and light romantic suspense.

This is the third and final book in the Amish Holiday series with the others being a holiday Easter and Christmas book.
I enjoyed reading this Thanksgiving book so close to Thanksgiving. Filled with pumpkins, harvests, apple cider and a farmers market stand the book is seasonally appropriate.
We are once again back in Promise Glen, a rural area with widowed Amish woman Rebecca King and her twin babies. The twins are rascals but utterly adorable as they babble In Pennsylvania Dutch. She dreams of expanding her orchard, but the babies take her time. Accepting help from her neighbor, who doesn't always have the kindest things to say isn't what she wants but she may have to take it. I'm always pleased to see how the Amish come together to help each other. The community works as one, no matter what needs done they are there for each other.
The story has a bit of a mystery to it and an unexpected romance for one of our characters.
The romantic characters each have problems that they are experiencing but they work through it together and help each other heal.
The author writes a realistic Amish story, family, faith and love are strongly shown.

Thanksgiving Blessing by Marta Perry, book six in her Promise Glen series, is an inspiring and heartwarming story about family, grief, love, friendship, family and faith. It is a reminder to be thankful for what you have and what you did have all tied in with a little mystery as well as an unexpected romance building between Rebecca and Nathan.

Rebecca King, a widow, is raising her twins, managing her farm, and selling produce at her roadside fruit and vegetable stand. Halloween is approaching and vandalism is occurring in the area. Nathan Mueller and his teenage brother move onto the neighboring farm that Nathan inherited from his ne’er-do-well uncle. Nathan is still grieving the pain of losing his wife and has no intention of becoming involved with the pretty widow next door, but his protective instincts kick in; despite Rebecca’s family drawing him into their circle. Rebecca, her twins, her siblings, and even her grandmother are able to bandage the wounded of the Mueller souls by their offer of unconditional friendship. Rebecca and Nathan were able to help each other in their healing by sharing each other’s burdens, strengthening their friendship as sparks of attraction being to glow between them.

Ms. Perry wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving story that reminds us to count our blessings. The message of love, faith, and family was; making this sweet and inspirational read one I could not put down, drawing me in, making me forget it was fiction. The sweet love story between Becca and Nathan makes your heart feel good; including a bit of danger that has readers waiting for the next shoe to drop throughout the book. This is another cozy visit to Promise Glen with characters you’ll love and a story that comforts. I highly recommend Thanksgiving Blessing to other readers.

Thanksgiving Blessing is the endearing story of Rebecca “Becca” Knight, a Promise Glen native for life, and Nathan Mueller, a recent arrival, as they both heal from a devastating loss with the loving compassion of the Amish community and the encouragement of family.

Becca's twins were my favorite since they resembled my granddaughter so much, but with one exception: unlike my granddaughter, who is never still, even while napping or at night, the twins were!

After their mother remarried and left him with his brother Peter, Nathan finds himself overburdened in caring for his younger brother. I could relate to Nathan; raising teenagers can prove challenging, even when they don't have the same sense of abandonment as Peter experienced.

Despite her anxiety that her mother doesn't trust her, Becca only wants to make her parents proud of her achievements.

Admittedly, there were moments when I wanted to shake both of them. But I understood that I was privy to information that they were not. Thought-provoking, Thanksgiving Blessing reveals that most of the time it is preferable to let someone sort things out on their own rather than having someone else step in and "fix" them.

Thanksgiving Blessing is a sweet and delightful story about the Thanksgiving season. It's a great way to celebrate the occasion and a wonderful way to begin experiencing gratitude during the holiday season.

I received an advanced review copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. All opinions are my own, and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

P.S. There's a little bit of a mystery to figure out, too!

I always enjoy a visit to the quaint community of Promise Glen, courtesy of Marta Perry’s skilled storytelling, and I’m happy to report that Thanksgiving Blessing is just as charming as its cover! Those adorable twins you see there – Joanna and James – are an adorable handful, and their antics filled the book with humor and affection.

Becca King is a young widow left to raise those two toddlers without her husband, but she’s not without support. Her family lives across the road, her teenage sister helps watch the twins (and Becca’s farmstand), and their grandmother lives with Becca on the orchard that was once her own. I loved grossmammi – she embodies wisdom and love, all with a twinkle in her eye and a gentle spirit. I loved Becca too. She has an admirable inner strength, a soft heart despite the painful loss of her husband, and a forgiving nature. She is such a genuinely nice character that you can’t help but wish you were her neighbor.

Speaking of… Nathan Mueller and his teenage brother Peter do have the good fortune of living next ‘farm’ to Becca, and while their friendship with Becca & her family is quick and easy it’s not all smooth sailing. Namely because Nathan is still grappling with his own losses and adjusting to his new role as father figure for his brother. For his own part, Peter is working through some hurt, too. It was really sweet to watch Becca, her twins, her siblings, and even her grandmother begin to bandage up the two wounded Mueller souls, just by extending unconditional friendship and needing the same in return. I appreciated how Becca and Nathan helped each other, sharing each other’s burdens long before anything more than friendly respect solidifies between them. And while there are definite sparks of attraction that lead to love (this is a romance, after all), it’s still their friendship I enjoyed the most. (Don’t get me wrong though – I loved the romance too lol)

Bottom Line: Thanksgiving Blessing by Marta Perry gently reminds us to count our blessings and step out in faith when we’re afraid to trust that God knows best. The sweet love story between Becca and Nathan is like a warm embrace, and the character growth from main as well as supporting characters just makes your heart feel good. More than one subplot advances the plot, including a dash of danger that has readers waiting for the next shoe to drop throughout the book. This is another cozy visit to Promise Glen with characters you’ll love and a story that comforts even as it entertains.

I love seasonal reading so when this crossed my radar--a book set in the fall, featuring a farm stand and garden--it was an easy choice for me to read it. And the cover really drew me in. It's really beautiful, with the apples and pumpkins and fall foliage.

Both Becca and Nathan are in a season of grief after having lost their respective spouses. Becca is surrounding by a large, supportive family and community, but Nathan only has his younger brother and is new to the area. He moves into the vacant farm beside of Becca with his younger brother, and finds himself crossing paths with her often due to general proximity but also the generosity of Becca and her family as far as sharing meals and work with Nathan. Her toddler-aged twins trigger feelings of pain and longing from the loss of his wife and child, and he feels guilty that he is intrigued by her. She feels the same guilt at her feelings toward him.

Becca has an orchard that was given to her by her grandfather and a produce stand that was built by her late husband. She does a good job of providing for her children and grandmother who lives with her, but there are times when maintaining the business alone is a lot of work. Nathan has a large pumpkin patch, and partners with Becca to sell his pumpkins at her produce stand.

I love Amish stories. They're always so peaceful and calming. I'm always intrigued by the Amish way of life, which is absolutely different from mine in nearly every way. I loved Becca's large family and the love they shared with one another. I love the way they all drew Nathan and his brother Peter into their fold. And I enjoyed the lite suspense brought by the vandalism part of the plotline. I liked this one enough to go back and read the other books in this series. This isn't the start of the series, but I didn't have any trouble finding my way around the characters and this community at all.

Thanksgiving Blessing by Marta Perry takes up back to Promise Glen where Rebecca King, a widow, is raising her twins, managing her farm, and selling produce at her roadside fruit and vegetable stand. Halloween is approaching and vandalism is occurring in the area. Nathan Mueller and his teenage brother move into the neighboring farm that Nathan inherited from his ne’er-do-well uncle. Nathan has no intention of getting involved with the pretty widow next door, but his protective instincts kick in. Plus, Rebecca’s family has a way of drawing people into their circle. I enjoyed returning to Promise Glen. While Thanksgiving Blessing is the third An Amish Holiday Novel, it can be read on its own. I like Marta Perry’s writing style. The story is told from a dual third person protagonist point of view. It allows us to see issues from Nathan and Rebecca’s point of view. I thought the characters were developed and realistic. We get to know Rebecca and Nathan as well as Peter (Nathan’s teenage brother), Miriam, Abel, and the twins (Joanna and James). I like that each character has their own storyline. The twins keep Rebecca hopping. They provide some cute and amusing moments. I like that a mystery was included in the story. Someone is creating havoc, and it seems to be more than the normal Halloween hijinks. I like how Amish traditions are included in the story. I like learning about the Amish culture and their traditions. Thanksgiving Blessing is a story about family, grief, love, friendship, and faith. Being supportive of family and friends was another element. I like how Amos introduced Nathan to the men he would be doing business within the community. He made sure to include him in family meals and gatherings. This is a story that is great to read on a rainy day or one of those rare, chilly days we have in Florida (because then I can lounge in a cozy chair with a warm blanket and read all afternoon). Thanksgiving Blessing is a wholesome, heartwarming story that left me smiling.

Almost all of the story takes place before Thanksgiving with the story ending as the main characters feeling their Thanksgiving is especially blessed, thus the title.

She is a young widow with two precocious twins who are cute, and smart and the only time you don't have to watch them is when they are asleep. She is determined to make the orchard inherited from her grandfather support them. He has just moved to the neighborhood having inherited his uncle's farm. The community is watching him very carefully -- his uncle was a drunk so...
Her name is Becca King and he is Nathan Mueller.

Okay, I'll admit it. I like Marta Perry's novels, especially her Amish mysteries. And there is a mystery to this one. Vandalism is taking place in the Amish community as well as in town. Nathan can't plant a real crop until next year. Will the vandals hit their orchard or his farm?

Marta Perry describes the people and events in such a way that the reader feels like they KNOW them as real people. Love the Sheriff. Think the 18-month-old twins are cute but glad I didn't have twins. Those two never stop. Peter is Nathan's younger brother in his teens and suffering from "teenage-itis" as well as knowing his mother did not want him anymore when she remarried after his Daad died. Go ahead, you can start not liking her right now. There's Becca's "grossmammi" who is a sweetheart -- Becca's little brothers (also twins), her loving father. This does not drag the story done. Instead, these people are warming and making the story stronger.

Nathan feels out of his depth with trying to guide Peter. To help him become a good Amish man. In fact, he doesn't feel like he could ever be as good a father as his Daad was. He has serious Trust issues. Becca is focused on making enough money to support her family. Of course, you can see what is going to happen next.

But getting there is such a good read. I had a hard time putting my Kindle Fire down and doing the things I was *supposed* to be doing. Boring stuff like laundry.

Yes, I highly recommend "Thanksgiving Blessing" by Marta Perry. I was given a DRC (digital review copy) by the publisher, Berkley Publishing Group via NetGalley. A favorable opinion was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
