I thought it was about time for a Dollywood cookbook, after all the Disney and Harry Potter ones I have seen. I like the author am also from East Tennessee and grew up going to Dollywood on a regular basis. So I feel like I should have the most authentic critic of this cookbook. The style of the cookbook is cute with blue checks and a homey feel, it might be too much maybe. The cover could have definitely been more enticing with a different design. I like the layout and organization with sides, snacks etc. There is too much information in the introduction, describing each section of Dollywood is fine, but it is in excess. It would have been nice to put a map of the park, but that may be hard without permission from the park. My favorite snacks are the pork rinds, spiced nuts, and of course the kettle corn. There is a good amount of pictures which is helping me figure out what I should try when I go to the park next! But a lot of those images are plain and could have been styled to look more appetizing. This book does make me excited to back to Dollywood and try some new foods! I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this cookbook! It was very fun to read and had a whole book full of delicious and easy to make recipes ! I would love to take a trip to Dollywood one day. I thank Netgalley and Adams Media for the opportunity to read and review this cookbook.
Well, now I desperately want to go to Dollywood! It's always been on my to-visit place but it has moved way up on the totem pole after reading this! The anecdotes and recipes are fantastic. I loved the inside scoop and the corresponding recipes. This was unique and so fun! I cannot wait to try the recipes in this book.
A love letter to Dollywood.
A well researched cookbook about all things Dollywood. Part one gives us the background and synopsis of the park by section and its eating establishments. Part two gives us the recipes by park sector. While I haven't been to Dollywood, this book makes me want to try all the food it has to offer and even make them at home.
Recommend for comprehensive copycat recipes that truly shows the authors admiration for all things Dollywood, but especially the food and drink one can indulge in while having a good time.
What a fun book! Not strictly just a cookbook, it also gives a history of Dollywood. Lots of great Southern recipes, my only complaint was that there were no pictures. But a solid, great book of recipes.
Thank you Netgalley and Adams Media for the ARC!
This isn't just a cookbook. It's a travel guide of sorts, a history of Dolly wood and a great cookbook. I have tried a couple of recipes and look to try even more.
Thank you NetGalley, Erin Browne and Adams Media for the copy of
The Unofficial Dollywood Cookbook. This is my personal review.
This is a cookbook that has recipes that are unofficial for Dollywood eateries. It was fun to read the recipes and get ideas of what I may find at Dollywood. Some day I hope to go there and check out Dollywood!
I really liked the variety of recipes in the cookbook. I wish there had been photos for the recipes. Having a photo to see what the items should look like helps me a lot when I am cooking.
The Unofficial Dollywood Cookbook is full of all the delicious recipes I was hoping for! It’s been years since I have been there, but I can still remember some of the amazing culinary treats I experienced while there. I loved the opportunity to try to recreate some of those treats in my own home. There is everything from snacks, to lunch, to dinner, to dessert and drinks. Oh, and don’t forget all the tasty side dishes to accompany all those delicious meals. The recipes are simple and easy to follow. You can make with most common kitchen equipment and common ingredients. Enjoy the extra tidbits about the park, but savor the yummy, tasty food.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

My biggest complain about this book is the lack of pictures. I like to see recipes in cook books and this one is lacking in pictures. Especially as someone who isn't super familiar with foods that would be found at Dollywood pictures would be helpful. There also seems to be some discrepancy between the official Dollywood recipes and some of these and while it's an unofficial cook book I would think the recipes should be more accurate. The author also doesn't seem totally clear on the history of seem of these foods - like catfish - which was off-putting to me.
What a great southern cooking cookbook. If you have ever been to Dollywood you have probably tried some of these gems there. Many recipes give you the option to bake or fry the item. I know there are so many easy to follow and you probably already have ingredients to make most of these recipes. My only problem is I don't know where to start! It may have to be that delicious Cinnamon Bread which is a favorite of mine. Get this cookbook you will totally enjoy it!
I absolutely love this cookbook, not only is it beautifully put together, but the version given to me worked as an e-book (most of the time when I get an e-cookbook the formating does not work). I really like that this cookbook gave alternatives to frying.
I would highly recommend!
I mean, who doesn't love amusement park treats and Dolly Parton? :-) I didn't know the existence of Dollywood until I saw this cookbook (I know, I know...), but that didn't stop me from jumping all over this cookbook.
It is a very cute cookbook and is chock full of fun classic amusement park foods - from snacks, meals, sides, to drinks and desserts! I discovered there are some popular foods known to Dollywood lovers, such as Grist Mill Cinnamon Bread (which I can hardly wait to bake and share) and Fruity Pebbles Funnel Cakes that I seem to lose all my will powers in front of them! Not to mention, Fried Cheese Curds, Hazelnut Churros, Chocolate-Covered Frozen Cheesecake and many more!!! There are plenty of foods to choose from and have fun cooking and baking, so if you're familiar with Dollywood or a fan of any amusement park foods, give this book a try. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is, though, there aren't many photos. If you enjoy looking at pics of what your food should look like, this book won't do it for you. I really wish The Unofficial Dollywood Cookbook had contained more photos!!!
A fabulous cookbook! From frozen banana lollies, to fried chicken, to lobster rolls - this book has it all. What a wide range of delicious, yet simple to make recipes. It has very clear, simple and easy to follow instructions to help guide you through each recipe. I love the mouth-wateringly delicious photographs that accompany the various dishes in the book. My only wish is that there was a photo f9r every single recipe, but that’s just personal preference. Love the intro to each and every dish though - that’s a nice touch. Lots of delicious ideas to get cooking straight away. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you to Adams Media and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.
I really liked the variety in recipes, and the oven option for anyone who doesn't have the means, or doesn't like to fry food.
I liked the history, but I would have appreciated some pictures of the park in the beginning section.
I received an advance copy from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I was incredibly excited to get my hands on the Dollywood Cookbook, as I'm a huge admirer of Dolly Parton. Even though I have yet to visit Dollywood, I did stay at Dream More and had the pleasure of eating at the restaurant there. Everything from the Stone Soup to the Sweet Potato Casserole was delectable and comforting.
This cookbook did not disappoint. It includes easy-to-follow recipes that require simple ingredients, along with step-by-step instructions and beautiful photography. Keep in mind that this is Southern cuisine, and the recipes are inspired by a theme park - so you can expect them to be indulgent and delicious. However, one thing I wish the book included was nutritional information.
I can’t wait to purchase a copy of this to add to my cookbook collection. My husband was born and raised in northeast Tennessee so I’m sure these dishes will bring back warm memories for him. I especially can’t wait to make the pecans because I can only imagine how amazing my house will smell.
I have been itching to go to Dollywood for many years now and was very disappointed when my family voted for Florida over Tennessee a few years ago and then, well, COVID. Reading this book, especially the start where the author describes all of the attractions and their food, has re-kick started my desire to visit - I'm trying to get everyone to pivot from Maui to Pigeon Forge for our next holiday but not having a lot of success. I appreciated that the first part of the book is a bit of a walk through of Dollywood, focusing on the attractions and their history but, more critically the food that Dollywood is so well known for. While I try to eat health, I am a big fan of BBQ and all of the foods that go with it, so this book was certainly in keeping with that. I don't think I can argue that any of the recipes are all the healthy, but comfort food is good too.
I do think that the section that speaks to the instruments of the trade may have been a bit basic, but as I'm someone who cooks and bakes a lot, I try not to judge a book for including that type of information. Because there are folks reading who are in need of those tips. But I skimmed that section for sure. Nothing earth shattering, but I did cringe a bit at needing a spiralizer because I have resisted buying one for years. Glad it didn't come out for too many of the recipes and really only one where you couldn't do a substitution.
The recipes are easy to follow, typically have ingredients that aren't too hard to follow, and involve a lot of frying. So much frying. I was happy that a bunch include oven bake options, because I find frying so messy and, well, less healthy.
I did test a few recipes and they turned out as expected. I have a few more that I am going to try before to book expires on me. The cinnamon bread is the one I'm hoping to do this weekend. Will I make everything in this book? No. See comment about frying above. But did it whet my appetite for a bunch of food, indeed, and for a trip to Dollywood in the near future.
Obviously these recipes aren’t going to be the healthiest but who cares it’s Dollywood food so you know it’s going to be good! It’s ok to cheat if you’re on a diet every now and then anyways. These recipes are iconic and I can’t wait to try some of them! Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an ARC!
These likely aren't the healthiest recipes, but, boy, do they sure look good! I do look forward to trying some of them. I've never been to Dollywood, but I hope to visit one day. And it looks like I'll enjoy the food there, as well. After all, that's part of the fun of an amusement park! I do wish there had been more photos, as well as nutritional info. It doesn't look like many of the recipes would work for those with dietary restrictions, but they could probably be altered, a bit.
My dietist and my health says that the recipes in this book are not good for my health. My mind says that it would be mentally healthy to eat them as they're easy to follow.
