Another great book from Lindsay Squire! This is a very useful guide, particularly for tarot beginners. It's organized well and offers information about each card and suit, with a summary of the keywords to remember for individual cards. Squire also gives advice about how to choose a tarot deck, goes over how to bring in related traditions (astrology and numerology, for example), provides suggestions for spreads, and offers some spells and rituals. I'm personally not a huge fan of the artwork (I like a looser, hand drawn look rather than precise vectors), but thankfully art is subjective. Overall, this is a good tarot reference book to keep on your shelf! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.

Perfect beginner's guide ✨

I think this is the perfect guide if you are, like me, new to tarot. This book was really instructive, beautiful, and fun to read. I did learn a lot, and I know I will reach for it a lot for my practice. The illustrations were also so beautiful and enhanced the reading experience tenfold.
This is my second book from this author, and she just became an auto-buy for me!

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Leaping Hare for the ARC!

As a budding tarot enthusiast, I was thrilled to dive into “Tarot Magick” by Lindsay Squire. From the moment I opened this book, I was captivated not only by the stunning illustrations from The Witch of the Forest’s Tarot Magick deck, beautifully illustrated by Viki Lester, but also by the wealth of knowledge that Squire has woven throughout this enchanting guide.
This book is a treasure trove for anyone intrigued by the dual worlds of tarot and witchcraft. As someone relatively new to both realms, I found Squire’s voice to be warm and inviting. It felt like sitting down with a knowledgeable friend who was eager to guide me through the complexities of tarot without overwhelming me. Each chapter is structured to gradually build a strong foundation, making it accessible for beginners while still offering nuggets of wisdom for those with some experience.
One of the standout features for me was the detailed description of all 78 cards. Squire demystifies the Major and Minor Arcana, breaking down the symbolism, elemental associations, and astrological meanings in a way that felt both thorough and digestible. The inclusion of numerology also added an intriguing layer to my understanding, prompting me to reflect on how numbers influence each card's meaning.
The hands-on approach is another aspect that I absolutely loved. The guidance on creating tarot spreads and performing personal readings was invaluable. I felt encouraged to experiment and develop my intuitive skills, rather than being confined to rigid interpretations. The book’s jacket, which can be flipped to practice a simple three-card spread, is such a clever addition. It’s an element of fun and practicality that I find quite charming.
What truly set this book apart for me was the emphasis on blending tarot with witchcraft. Squire seamlessly integrates spells, rituals, and wellness practices, which felt like a natural evolution in my journey. The section on spells and rituals, which is uniquely different from what I’ve encountered in other tarot literature, really resonated with me. It opened new avenues for using the cards as tools for personal growth, self-exploration, and empowerment. I loved discovering how to incorporate tarot into my self-love practices—it was both affirming and enlightening.
Additionally, the recipes and tips from The Witch of the Forest’s personal grimoire provided an authentic touch, giving me a glimpse into the author's own practices and how they intertwine with the cards. This connection made the information feel more relatable and applicable to my own life.
In summary, “Tarot Magick” is an exquisite guide that balances practical knowledge with mystical insight.

[💌] incredible art & probably the best guide for beginners & intermediate practioners

Tarot Magick: Discover yourself through tarot. Learn about the magick behind the cards.

I think this is one of the best tarot guide’s I’ve read so far, amazing beautiful art between the pages of this book. Great information regarding the individual cards: the ruling planet, zodiac, element, detailed information on yes/no questions and the way the card is positioned and of course: the fools journey.

This book has learnt me more about tarot than the books i’ve read before, the book is based on the RWS deck but beautifully illustrated. The part about card spreads teached me a lot about magick and how to incorperate tarot cards into your practice

I don’t usually rate 5 stars to spirituality books however this was an exception and amazing help, if you happen to be able to get a copy, i would highly recommend this! the reading list for other books to help your practice was a nice touch!

thank you to netgalley for providing me with this free book, in exchange for an honest review

I will 100% be adding this to my physical collection. I’ve been practicing tarot for years and have read quite a few books about it, but this is by far the most thorough and informative one yet! The illustrations are stunning as well! It covers every card in the major and minor arcana, suit meaning, spreads and so much more, complete with a very handy index.

This is an excellent book for both tarot beginners and those with some experience. As well as covering how to choose, cleanse and bond with a tarot deck, the author discusses numerology, astrology, colours and symbols in relation to the cards. They also provide a good brief description of each card and some suggested spreads. All of this adds up to a comprehensive introduction which should give beginners confidence in their readings.

I particularly liked the section on spells and rituals, which differs from other tarot books I have read.

I was given an e-copy of the book to review, and thank the publisher and NetGalley for this. Although it is not easy to see on an e-copy, the book looks beautifully illustrated.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in a brief but comprehensive introduction to the tarot.
