Very cute cover! I have to say I loved this book! It’s written very well about two women who are at very different stages of life. This isn’t a romance but a book about what life can throw at you.
What did I like? I loved the message this book brings about new beginnings. Life makes us go through some things that are difficult and fearful but the only way to succeed is facing these things. I found the book to be charming and insightful. Many of us are stuck after the pandemic but the message is clear. Helping others helps yourself. Being around others in like situation’s help you feel. Life is meant to be lived.
Would I recommend or buy? I loved the cover and the insightful message this book brought me. You only have today so make today count! I have a shelf for this author and I think her books are amazing and straight from the heart! Five huge stars! I will definitely buy for my shelf!
I received a complimentary copy and this is just my opinion.
Joan Sample has become a recluse since the death of her husband. Spending her birthday alone makes her realize that she needs to start living again. Taking her sisters advice she joins a support group, puts an ad in the paper for a landscaper who must love flowers and decides to rent out a room. Maggie Herbert is a struggling nursing student who wants to move out of her fathers house. When she accepts Joan’s offer to rent a room, it changes both their lives. Wonderful read.
Thanks to Debbie Macomber and Random House!
Joan Sample loves flowers and has always been proud of her yard until she is faced with the loss of her husband and the pandemic. She not only is locked in her house, but she does not even go work in her flower beds. Her new neighbors think that no one is even living in the home. A letter from her HOA starts the process of her returning to life outside of her home. Across town, Maggie Herbert is trying to get out of the house as often as she can. Her mother has passed away and her father is dealing with his grief with alcohol being verbally abusive to Maggie and using her savings to cover monthly bills. Joan and Maggie come into each other’s lives at the perfect time.
Debbie Macomber once again provides a touching and sweet story of hope and how often our lives crisscross others without even knowing it. She weaves the story around live topics of loss of partner and parent, the stages of grieving, living with an alcoholic, the struggle to make ends meet and adds finding love when you think all is lost. Macomber has a way of developing characters that could be your next-door neighbors. In “Must Love Flowers,” she also shows the flaws of Joan’s son Nick who is quick to show his temper and say something wrong. Each time I would think he had messed it up completely Macomber would bring him around to fix his mistakes.
Thank you Debbie Macomber, NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books for my ARC .
Debbie Macomber does not disappoint. Her sweet romantic stories include mature characters and the importance of family.
Another wonderful Debbie Macomber book. This book is about hope and a second chance at love. I thoroughly enjoyed this book
I loved this book from the beginning to end. I think not only was it entertaining but it gave space to an important topic. People have grief when things happen and it is okay to reach out to others and therapy can help you heal. Highly recommend this book!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC!
Joan has been grieving her husbands death 4 years ago. She rarely leaves the house and her family is worried about her. Maggie is trying to go to school to become a nurse, she works long hours and has her alcoholic father to deal with. Joan finally decides to take the first steps to get her life back. This is a sweet story that would be perfect for an afternoon on the beach. The characters are all likable and the story line is enjoyable. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
I received an Advanced Reader copy from Netgalley for my honest review. I have read many Debbie Macomber novels. I loved Joan and her struggles with isolation due to death, Covid, and grief. She was relatable. Maggie was in a place of need and Joan showed tremendous compassion. Nick and Steve want to see Joan get back into finding a purpose. Phil, must love flowers, is an all around good guy. Every character is at a point of self discovery. I hope there is a sequel based on Nick and Maggie. This was such an enjoyable read!
Joan Sample has been widowed for four years and is definitely in a rut. When her HOA notifies her that they're going to start fining her because of the state of her lawn it's her wake up call. She not only meets a new lawn guy her age, she takes in a boarder and another surprise guest and tries to resurrect her relationship with her sons.
This was a heartfelt novel that we have come to know and expect from Macomber. This book was a nice palate cleanser in between all of my usual high intense reads. A perfect paperback novel for the beach this summer.
I'm a fan of Debbie Macomber and was delighted to see her new book. This book is a wonderful glimpse into life after the passing of a loved one being it is a spouse, parent or child. This book came at an interesting time for me as I am in the place of grieving my dad who passed away in October.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sweet story about Joan, a widow who has lost herself the last few years, and Maggie, a student who is currently living with her unsupportive alcoholic father. The two women form a friendship that allows them to turn their life around in many different ways.
Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for this ARC of a heartwarming story.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read a digital galley.
I'm a fan of Debbie Macomber and was delighted to see her new book. The cover is so inviting and I like the title. Both drew me to the novel. This is the story of Joan, a 50-something widow of four years, and Maggie, a young nursing student whose mother died in recent years. Their paths bring them together and they form an unexpected bond that could be life changing. Grief played a big part in the novel and Macomber brought her characters through the journey (via a support group and other ways). Loss of spouse, parent, and children are addressed which will make the novel relatable to most readers. An epilogue neatly wrapped the various storylines.
Recommended to fans of Debbie Macomber and women's fiction.
Thank you NetGalley, Debbie Macomber and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC of Must Love Flowers. This is my personal review.
Must Love Flowers hit everything I needed in a book to read. The characters were all so perfectly written that I felt like I had known them for a long time.
Joan and Maggie are the least likely people to become friends, but they came into each other’s lives at the perfect moment. Joan was a widow who was withdrawing from life and trying to convince herself how she was living was OK for her to be doing. Maggie is a college student living in a tough situation with her father.
When Maggie decided it was time to change her life that is when she met Joan.
This is a story of two women who needs something in their lives to give them that nudge they need. The strength and determination were there for them both. The others they meet along the way help them change their path in life.
Debbie Macomber has written another excellent book giving the reader a book that will be enjoyed by many!
Good news for you Debbie Macomber fans! Debbie decided she failed at retirement and she is back writing stories again. Maybe not as many but writing again. She ended her retirement with a good one. Two women of vast differences in ages forge a lasting friendship. Joan is a widow and due to covid had not really be able to enjoy her life like she had always thought she would when she retired. Her sister encouraged her to "get out there". Baby steps. She put up a flyer to rent out a room. Enter Maggie. She is in a terrible situation. She is living at home with her alcoholic father, trying to save as much money as she can for her college classes. She works at a coffee shop so the flyer is a sign from heaven because she needs to leave the abusive father. The two women find out that really need each other and form their own little "family". Then enters the handsome landscaper that has started taking care of Joan's yard and Joan's own son. Who by the way thinks she is crazy for opening her home to a perfect stranger. Now that is all I am going to share with you. Go tell Debbie how happy we are that she is writing again
Must Love Flowers makes my soul happy! Debbie Macomber knows how to tell a story that makes you feel so many emotions. I am so glad the author did not retire. Her books are always a must read, but this one is especially needed after the last three years. I really loved all of the characters and couldn't put it down!

This book is all about love, strength, and courage. Debbie Macomber has a way of writing for all different age groups and this one was absolutely amazing! I loved every second of Joan and Maggie's stories and this book was a pure joy to read.
A second chance romance for older individuals. Clean and strong. And some romance for the younger set, on the side. Grief is the main topic here as well as the way it hits people differently. And some insigiht into the ways to heal from grief. There is also some alcohol addiction topics. This isn't hard and heavy, though. It is a very sweet romance.
A charming book that tells us that no matter what or who we lose, there is hope of a new life. Maybe a different one but hopefully with new friends.
Evidently Debbie Macomber tried to retire. So many of us are so glad she continues to do what she does best! Must Love Flowers is classic Debbie Macomber.
Joan is struggling with grief after the loss of her husband that was followed by the covid pandemic; she hasn't ventured from her home and her appearance has been slacking. A letter from her HOA wakes her up.
Maggie is a college student with her own struggles.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review the advance read copy of Must Love Flowers in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Debbie Macomber ... keep on writing! And to the publisher Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books for approving my ARC request.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book. I have read many of Mrs. Macomber's books in the past and this one did not disappoint. She came out of retirement to write this one and she has not lost her touch for providing an escape for her readers.
Debbie Macomber has the gift of writing books that take her readers into the lives of her books. I also love how her books are just a nice escape from the harsh realities of life at times.
Must Love Flowers takes us into the life of Joan Sample. Joan has lost her husband 4 years ago and then COVID hit and she became somewhat of a recluse. Joan has discovered that she needs to get back into the world. Along the way she meets Maggie, a young woman who has lost her mother and whose father has fallen into the bottom of a bottle, so to speak. We also meet Phil, who has also had some loss in his life as well.
I love the way that Mrs. Macomber introduces the reader into each other their lives and then intertwines them all so nicely.
If you are looking for a feel good, happily ever after story, you can't go wrong with a Debbie Macomber romance. Enjoy!
