Let's be honest... I borrowed this book from Netgalley before I actually started reviewing books. (Think 2013 at 18 years old.) I'm now 30 and much more serious about my book reviews so I apologize for never formally reviewing this book.

AMAZING...Loved this book and loved everything about it, I can't wait for more from this author.
4 star

Loved this book. Another strong entry in the series. Lora and Armand's relationship progresses as the war rages on. The mix of magic and WWI is really interesting and unique.

I requested this book without knowing it was the second of a series, so I had to rush and read the first one before starting this one.
The Deepest Night is a great novel with beautiful writing, and well developed characters, it was almost as good as the first one, it was captivating and intense, the only downside is the romance, it was a little bit confusing and hard to know who to ship Lora with.
Learning about Lora’s dragon gift was definitely the highlight of the book, it was so much fun seeing her learn everything with Jesse as her teacher, the plot pulls you in from the beginning and holds you till the very end, I loved everything about this series and can’t wait to read more of Shana Abe.

I requested this several years ago and I don't think it's a book for me anymore. So I will not be reviewing at this time, but if I do read it, I will update this review. Thank you for the opportunity.

This is one of those books where the first one was AMAZING and you really hoped the second would be just the same. However, while it was nearly there, it did fall short in some parts. Still a really good read and continued well from the first.
Anyway, Lora has gaine more confidence from just being an orphan to now being able to become a dragon. It's got that func element of dragons while still keeping a lot of things down to earth in way, though it takes place around WWI so it gives it that tough realstic tone while also giving you what you love. It somehow works even though you wouldn't think so with the combo.
Lora and Mandy are off to save Mandy's brother and the parts that get me is wanting some more action and the pace to be a little more faster but I didn't hate it. If it had just a bit more of that, it would have been a love like the first book.

Good follow-up to the first novel; I will recommend this to students who will enjoy the mix of history, romance, and the supernatural.

This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.

I'm sorry I was not able to read and review this book before it was archived due to serious health issues.

I will agree with reviewers that Shana Abe is a lovely writer and created a unique world for this series. It was definitely a quick read for me, as the characters had no hold upon my affections, but having read the first, I wanted to read the next in the series. I am glad I did, but again, this, for me, wasn't a stay-up-all-night reading type of book. I also thought the pace slower than the first. Teens should enjoy.

I wanted to love this book so much. I enjoyed/loved the first book in this series so much that I had such high hopes for this one. I'm not saying it was bad, it just didn't top the first one. I saw everything in this book coming, which I didn't see anything coming in the first one. I love her writing style though and the plots for this series is great, just not well executed in this one.

I hesitated to read the sequel since Jesse dies in the first book; and I preferred him to Armand. But I persevered! I cannot forget how Abe created a unique universe in the first book and how I loved her writing.
The Deepest Night was a quick read and despite the consistent lovely writing, there were some things that I wanted to know (more background) that were not present in the second book. The tone was also slightly different - in a good way.

I liked it and have told my followers to get themselves a copy for themselves as it is a really good read.
recommended to not only my followers but friends and family

The Deepest Night by Shana Abe sucks you in right away. The story picks up no long after where The Sweetest Dark ended. Lora becomes closer to Armand as she grieves over Jesse. Armand will do anything to keep Lora around, so he ends up turning his home into a hospital for the wounded. He brings Lora on as a nurse in the house.
This relationship between Lora and Armand is very strained. I feel like it doesn't work well for the two of them. As the story moves forward these two characters build on their relationship. Of course, Lora starts becoming confused about what she wants in her life.
I love how this book brings more to the series. Lora grows and shines in this story. It was great getting to see her grow. Abe writes so beautifully and it is hard not to enjoy her books.
