This volume focuses on Nakami and Magari's efforts to start up the astronomy club, which they began in the first volume in order to keep a hold of the observatory they've been using to nap during school hours. Nakami takes on the role of club president, and the two find an advisor-a former club member-that they work with to try and secure events and funding for the club. They focus on a astronomy photography contest, and Nakami spends much of the volume improving his photography skills in order to enter. This volume was just as good as the first, and offers more in-depth looks at Nakami and Magari as their friendship progresses, as well as their interactions with those around them. The supporting cast was increasingly important in this volume, making the story feel more lived in than it did in the beginning.

Ojiro continues to excel at visual storytelling in Insomniacs After School, Vol. 2. I enjoyed the addition of some new characters that gives more shape to the world our insomniacs live in. Club activities actually start happening, and the biggest villain in this volume is cloud cover. Some chemistry starts building up between our two insomniacs, and it's wonderful to see how they interact when they are in their little insomniac bubble, away from the teasing of their peers. My one problem about vol. 2 is that it left me wanting to go get boba. I look forward to volume 3.
