I am so excited Traci Douglass has a new medical romance series. Single Dad’s Unexpected Reunion is the first book in her new Wyckford General Hospital series. Set in the small fictional town of Wyckford, Massachusetts this is a story featuring a single dad, a rambunctious puppy, a little girl looking for a mommy, and a doctor at the top of her field. Single Dad’s Unexpected Reunion at its core is a second-chance romance with a little, okay a lot of humor added in.
Dr. Cassandra (Cassie) Murphy has returned to Massachusetts and her hometown of Wyckford after being gone for more than five years. During that time, she has worked hard to be not only one of the top in her field of reconstructive surgery but also the youngest partner in her San Diego medical practice. Dr. Brock Turner is a guy who is barely holding on. Since the deaths of his parents four years ago and his wife a year before that, Brock has been raising his five-year-old daughter Adilyn (Adi) alone. He has his sister Riley, but her life was also upended in the same accident that killed their parents, resulting in her becoming a paraplegic.
Cassie and Brock’s reunion is the result of a meet-cute where he mistakenly dials a number looking for someone to walk his daughter’s uncontrollable hyper-active French Bulldog Winnie. What progresses is a romantic comedy and a family forming set against the backdrop of a surgical procedure.
Single Dad’s Unexpected Reunion is filled with wonderful main and secondary characters. Cassie’s good nature and compassion shine through in spades. Brock’s interest in Cassie and his determination to still be the best son and doctor he can be is easy to see. This is definitely a slow slow burn romance. I loved watching Brock, Cassie, Adi, and Winnie become a family, especially when they didn’t even realize it was happening.

Cassie comes home to see her dad and work on a case but runs into her old crush Brock when things go crazy with a wrong number call. Cassie takes over with a puppy and his daughter and he finally asks for help. These two docs have chemistry from the start. Not super medical but well written plot and great characters - including side ones! It’s super cute with some steam!
I’m super excited for more of Wyckford General Hospital series and hope her friends and his sister get some HEAs!
thanks to the publisher for this arc
This is a Medical Romance, and this is the first book in the Wyckford General Hospital series. I found this book to be so cute and fun to read. I really fell in love with all the characters in this book. I really enjoyed reading this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Medical Romances) or author (Traci Douglass) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
It's been a while since I've read a category romance but I was curious about the medical romance genre so I gave Single Dad's Unexpected Reunion a try. I'm still not convinced that the medical profession needs it's own category but I did really enjoy this first title in the Wyckford General Hospital mini-series. Cassie and Brock were vividly drawn characters who worked well together. Although Brock's sister, daughter and new puppy were important characters, Douglas did a great job of keeping the scenes that they were in short and meaningful so that she could concentrate on Brock and Cassie's relationship transforming from attraction to love. Some of the plot seemed a bit improbable and contrived to me, but the beautiful story of two independent, determined people falling in love and learning to depend on each other, ecclipsed all else. The short introductions of characters who seem likely to be featured in futured books in the series made me curious. I'll be watching for the next entry in this series.
This was super cute. I really liked seeing Cassie with Adi and getting her to open up. Cassie just helped Brock learn to accept help and to love again. They are a really cute family.
I received an arc through netgalley.
I throughly enjoyed this well written medical romance. Good plot and character dynamics. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Very much been enjoying acquiring these titles for our location. Will be sharing a full review on this one upon completion. I very much like this series and the single dad/doctor aspect. I have been finding them very well written and we have been getting many requests for them from our readers as well. They are great to read for a quick escape and easy to process and understand. There was another title that is part of this series as well that I’ve very much been looking forward to as well. Hopefully will be seeing an approval on that as well.
