This is the 1st book in the “Innocent Royal Runaways Series.” Maia leads a sheltered life and has been living on the open waters her entire with her father who hasn’t been very nice to her. Nico is the king and doesn’t want a wife. With a mishap at the clinic Maia is mistakenly inseminated with King Nico’s sperm. When Nico learns of the mishaps he goes in search of Maia and kidnaps her off of her father’s boat and brings her back to his island to confirm her pregnancy. Maia is not a happy camper as she is being made to marry King Nico. Maia feels as if she is leaving one cage and going into another cage. As the pregnancy is confirmed the two finding themselves getting to know each other and Maia is slowly letting down her guard and the two are attracted to each other falling in love with each other.

I received an ARC via NetGalley and Harlequin Romance and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

I love Natalie Anderson and had no idea she was writing for Harlequin Presents. I thought, why not? So, I gave this book a try.

Harlequin Presents has a unique romance flavor. Old school, shall we say? But, I have to hand it to Harlequin Presents, they have modernized themselves, too. There is a king, just like there would have been in days of yore (sorry, but that phrase seems to fit). But then he finds out that his, his, uh…let’s call it his ‘male essence’… accidentally ends up in Maia the Virgin and bam! Maia is pregnant and so He is forced to kidnap her and bring her back to his tropical castle because it’s Harlequin Presents and things like that happen in Presents World.

Being a more modern Harlequin Presents, even though Maia the Unknowingly Pregnant Virgin had been living in forced servitude by her evil father on an illegal casino ship for years like a pseudo-Cinderella, once the King kidnapped and falls in Insta-maybe-love, she developed a backbone as she begin to reciprocate feelings possibly.

To learn more about the soap opera lives of the fictional land, fictional king, and fictional Virgin (but who knows for how long because this IS Harlequin Presents and the king is hot), request and read. You’ll love the nostalgia of a good ol’ old-fashioned romance that is delightfully full of tropes and full of fun.

Natalie Anderson brings us the story of King Niko and how an accident at the clinic brings him into Maia's life. With the line of succession in need of legitimacy, King Niko proclaims their engagement which Maia is unprepared for. For someone living in open waters for her entire life and working for her father, being made to wed Niko is just another form of the cage she wants to be free from. Who will get their way? Will Niko and Maia be able to find their way to each other as they spend time together, or will it all be too much for them? Will they be able to open up to each other about their pasts and insecurities, or will it just keep them apart?

Natalie Anderson brings us a story where you are looking for those moments of kindness and love. You keep turning the page to see what Niko and Maia are up to and whether they can weather the storms together or apart. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Harlequin Romance…This book was enjoyable. Medical Lab mix up made parents of King Nico and Maia. Maia is sheltered and controlled all her life by her father gets pregnant by medical mistake. King Nico finds out Maia is pregnant with his child. He orders them to marry for the sake of his kingdom and child. They disagree and so it begins. They struggle for both who need control and deal with past drama. This book is fast paced. They make a good couple and have a great connection. I like the point of views of both Nico and Maia. It is an easy flowing read. I would recommend this book because this author keeps you entertained with this enjoyable book. I look forward to her other books.

Quick Summary: An impossible situation romance

My Review: Impossible Heir for the King by Natalie Anderson is book one in the Innocent Royal Runaways series.

About the Book: When a medical hiccup takes place at King Niko's expense, little did an unsuspecting Maia understand just how much her life would change.

My Final Say: This was an intriguing story. Readers who enjoy romances with a spot of cloak and dagger intros, along with an oops type of H/h meetup will be drawn in by this book. They will come to know the leads and discover the love that is birthed from their unique situation.
