I think many will like Addison Fox her ability to bring characters that come to life. The story can get a little cheesy but the mystery was wrapped up quickly and readers are able to read this story in a few hours. Thank you to Netgelley for advance copy.
Marlowes skills at being a safecracker make her a great asset and tends to get called frequently by the NYPD lately. Things start to get complicated when Marlowe is seeing a bit of connection between her family and Wyatts case and the more they look into it its clear she's onto something.
I really enjoyed this book. There was plenty going on to keep me interesting like how Marlowe was seeing certain connections that police weren't and how she decided to follow up with her own type of shotty investigating. Then there was Wyatt who was the actual investigator to what's going on and when he finds out about her looking into things when she shouldn't ends up aiding her or at least protecting her from herself because she was catching someone who clearly didn't want her looking into things eye. There was a bit of steamy scenes which also kept things interesting. Overall pretty good book I enjoyed it.
This is a Romantic Suspense/Mystery, and this is the first book in the New York Harbor Patrol series. There is a lot of love about this book, and there are a few things that I did not love. I really loved the characters, and I think this is a great opening for a new series. The suspense and build up was really great in this book. I really loved all the underwater scenes in this book, and I felt they were written so you could really feel how the character felt while under the water. I loved both the main characters in this book as over come so much, and they are still trying to figure out what they really want out of life. I felt the romance was not the best, and I really felt there were parts of this book that were really cheesy. There were also some things that were left hanging. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Romantic Suspense) or author (Addison Fox) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
This book was entertaining and had layers of real life family dynamics woven between the storyline. Following Detective Wyatt who was a NYPD scuba diver was enlightening and brought attention to the dangers police officers face on a daily basis to keep the public safe, Safe specialist Marlowe kept the action at a fast pace and brought a personal level to the story showing the importance of having integrity in a relationship and in one’s life. All in all a good book for the first book in the New York Harbor Patrol series.
I’ve never had scuba diving in my stories before and I really liked that angle, especially coupling it with law enforcement. The safe cracking was pretty cool too. I enjoyed this romance and the tension and suspense. There was a steamy scene.
NYDP detective Wyatt uses Marlowe’s safe cracking expertise to help him with a murder investigation. They get close as the dangers of the case escalate.
Both characters have excellent backstory baggage with Wyatt’s father’s death in the line of duty and Marlowe’s criminal father. I really liked how Marlowe and Wyatt worked together to navigate both the case and her family drama. The scenes with the couple and Marlowe’s family members were among my favorites.
Marlowe makes a great heroine with her sharp wit and problem-solving prowess. Wyatt is ever the gentleman. The premise of the series with its focus on NYPD divers is compelling. The romance and suspense elements are nicely balanced.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to Harlequin Enterprises ULC for providing an Advance Reader Copy via NetGalley.
A good mystery, suspense that kept my attention. I did enjoy the banter between Marlow and Wyatt, I felt there was something in the characters I was missing. Overall a good read.
Thanks to NetGalley for a review copy of the ebook.
I liked our locksmith heroine and enjoyed the relationship between the MCs. This id book 1 in a series featuring the New York Harbor Patrol. This rolls closer to police than I really enjoy and I found that I kept thinking about those aspects throughout.
Well told and well plotted.
