Wow!! Stayed up late multiple nights to finish this one. This was, by far, one of my favorite books I have read of 2023. L.A. Larkin you are a literary genius!
We follow Sally, a former cop and victim advocate, as she tries to figure out the case of the Poster Girl Killings, among other events that are haunting her.
You will not want to miss this captivating, edge of your seat thriller when it comes out June 16th
This is my third L.A. Larkin novel and she never disappoints! She knows how to grab the reader’s attention and take them on a wild ride! This was such an addicting crime thriller that kept me guessing the whole time! There are so many surprises along the way and it’s non stop action. There were times when I was scared to read ahead and it’s packed with intense moments that will have you on the edge of your seat. This book is such an adrenaline rush! It was so entertaining and fascinating to follow along with Sally as she tries to uncover the truth. I can’t say enough good things about this book!
Thank you so much NetGalley and Bookouture for the early gifted copy!
Sally Fairburn is an ex-police officer who has always been haunted by the inability of the police to find "The Poster Killer", who kidnapped six young girls. He put up posters of the girls before they were taken.
Her young teenage daughter committed suicide, and left a note blaming her bullies.
Sally's ex-husband, also a police officer, is a controlling bully himself, and walked out of her life, leaving his son behind, after their daughter's funeral.
Sally is contacted by a man in jail, and tells her that he has information on the Poster Killer, but wants to be placed in witness protection in exchange for the information. He says the Poster Killer is known to her.
Sally races to unravel these mysteries, and her 14 year old son wants to help.
A very good beginning to what seems to be a promising series. I have not read anything by L.A. Larkin until now, and I am about to start the next book in the series, and can't wait to see if I am right about her daughter's death.
There is just one thing I am puzzled about. Allowing a 14 year old to be in the room when an interview about a kidnapping and possible murder - is that normal?
I was rivetted, and I like Sally, she has really been through the mill having a controlling and cruel husband, and losing her daughter in such a heartbreaking way. She is protective over her son, Paul, but he is at the rebellious age, and thinks he knows better.
Looking forward to more books from this author.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Four years ago young girls disappeared from a quiet suburb. Missing posters of the girls were hung before they were taken. Only one body has been discovered. Where are the others and who took them. Sally is a former cop and victims advocate who is drawn to the case. This book will have you on the edge of your seat. It is full of suspense from the first page and there was an unexpected twist at the end of the story. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
The kind of twisty, jet-fueled thriller that explodes on page one and has you happily abandoning work, sleep, and life as you race to the stunning end. Don't miss it!
Brilliant first book in the series, I don’t normally read American authors but this is brilliant, definitely one to read from now on
Whoa!! Great book! I found me a new to me author!! I loved this first book! It had everything!! It had high suspense, action, intrigue, murder, serial killers, great detective work and a fantastic who done it! The storyline was very very interesting and had me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book! It was well worth reading! I'm going straight to book two after this! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! A big thank you to finding me a new author! I can't wait for more! Definitely don't miss out on this one!
Missing girls and a main character, married to a controlling husband (looking back), with a son who doesn't want to do what he is told. She was a former law officer, trying to make it in the world on her own. The mystery and intrigue in this story are not ordinary. This story is fiction that reads, at times, like nonfiction. I do not like some of the subject matter or the language, but the novel is a quick read with a basic good storyline. This is a series. This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author.
