Her Last Promise is book four of the Hanni Winter's series and it did not disappoint. What an amazing and captivating journey Ms Hokin has taken me on. Her Last Promise was an incredible, page turning novel of courage, love, loss and redemption, it had me crying from the first page and bawling with the perfect ending to Hanni’s story. Highly recommended read.

Wow, this is a another engaging and absorbing read from Catherine Hokin. I have really liked Hanni and Freddy right from the The Commandants Daughter and been rooting for them all the way through this series. Hanni continues to search for evidence of her fathers war crimes and when her son joins his grandfather her search becomes vital. I think this is a beautifully written book which moved from past to present times so effortlessly and flowed really well. Reiner is one of my most hated characters ever, so well done to the author who has done her job very well making me feel this way. I really liked the connection between Hanni and Freddy, they are more open with each other about their past and feelings which came across so well in the book. And I had such empathy for Renny and her struggles, hopes and fears. What I've liked about this series is that the author has gone beyond 1945 and I've loved her descriptions of post war Germany and have been able to picture the characters, scenes and areas in my mind when reading. I loved the ending of the book, it was very fitting for the story. I would recommend this book and series if you like historical fiction although I'd say read the books in order to know the characters from the beginning. Having thoroughly enjoyed this series I know I'll reread again in the future.

A heartbreaking and gripping historical novel about courage, redemption and the endurance of the human spirit….it is heartbreakingly beautiful. Probably one of the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given to a novel… I was hooked within the first few minutes, some parts just left me speechless and with tears in my eyes.
