Did I pick this book up because I was rewatching The Office and needed a romance that reminded me of Jim and Pam and that is what this book was advertised as being? Yes I did. And I am so glad that I picked this book up because it 100% gave me the same vibes as Jim and Pam from The Office.
Per My Last Email is an adorable friends to lovers office romance following two characters who are completely oblivious about the fact that they were clearly meant to be together.
I really loved reading this book. The writing was so easy to read and the characters were so amazing and easy to fall in love with. I loved the little pranks Luke and Layla were constantly playing on each other and seeing them fall in love with each other felt so natural and realistic to read about.
I cannot wait to read the rest of this series and see all the side characters falling in love too.
This was definitely entertaining however it is one that became a little bit forgetful. I had a good time reading it. It is something I would recommend to people, but it’s not gonna be one of those romances that I go back and revisit however, I did really like the writing so I will continue to check out from this author.
"Per My Last Email" is a delightful romantic comedy that captures the struggles of Layla and Luke in their dead-end jobs and unspoken feelings. Their journey at a seaside conference is both heartwarming and hilarious, filled with crossed boundaries, blurred lines, and plenty of donuts.
"The thing about taking jumps; is the lead-up is the scariest part."
This was a very sweet end-of-the-year read. I enjoyed it more than I intended to, and the premise was exactly what I pictured in the story. It had the typical romance miscommunication and adults acting like teenagers, but it still worked for me.
It felt a little like The Hating Game, and I adored Luke. Will certainly look into reading the other books in this series when the moment strikes

A cute premise but it didn't deliver for me. I didn't find the two MCs interesting so I struggled to be invested in their romance. Also their relationship was a bit....cringey - I wasn't a fan of the dialogue ("little one"????), I didn't see any chemistry between them, and all the characters seemed very immature. Honestly, it felt like a YA romance with teenagers then two young adults.
Also, Layla - very not like the other girls energy that was very off-putting. You can be different and quirky without judging other women/people.
So unfortunately this one didn't work for me
a sweet and cutie, easy breezy love story featuring some tropes we all adore -- friends to lovers, miscommunication, coworkers, last to know -- and "the office" vibes (so they say, but i've never seen it, LOL). it's light on the spice so a great read for those who like their romances more on the sweet side instead of the spicy side -- it's a closed door romance. some of the pet names and word choices throughout this one started to bug me a bit but it's a fun read!
📖My Thoughts📖
Oh for the love of romcoms! Romcoms are one of my favorite genres. I love the different tropes, seeing the chemistry between the two main characters and watching their relationship grow etc. I’ve read a fair amount of them, though I haven’t really read a heaping ton of workplace romcoms. If they’re anything like this one, I’m going to have to read some more! I loved this book! It was really enjoyable with a quirky relationship/chemistry and banter between the two main characters and oh my gosh the pranks between these two had me laughing and remembering back to when I was a kid telling my mom that one of the boys in my class was always teasing me (similar to what these two were doing to each other) and her saying “oh that’s what they do when they have a crush on you”. I could have read this in one sitting, but, you know, adulting got in the way. I’ll be looking for more romcoms like this one!
Thank you Netgalley and Juliana Smith for the opportunity to read and review this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4/5 stars
Thank you Netgalley for this book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more of the Wells Family! Luke and Layla are such fun, relatable and tender hearted characters. I loved their banter, chemistry and the way they valued their friendship so much that they were timid to voice their feeling. It was so cool to read about a work environment in a publishing house and this book made me want to watch The Office. If you're looking for a cute rom com, this one is for you! My favorite part was the ending!!
You'd like this book if you like:
-'The Office' vibes
-a work trip
-friends to lovers
-amazing banter
-fun side characters
-closed door romance
I thought this book was great, a sweet rom com and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Really enjoyed this book. There were a lot of moments that actually made me laugh out loud. Loved the slow burn and can appreciate it when a romance book isn't full of smut to move the plot along. Would definitely recommend!
I adored this one and I truly need to read more books by this author.
I love the tropes and the cheistry between the MCs. The setting was really enjoyable as well and I could see a lot of myself in the FMC.
I really thin this is the perfect book for romance loovers!
If you love sweet, closed door romances… THIS IS THE ONE! So so cute!! Can’t wait for more from this author!
I couldn’t get into the writing and the office setting for the first 10% so I will have to try and come back to it again. I did love the map and was so excited for it so I think my mood reading brain just isn’t time for time one.
Gimme all the office romances!! I bloody loved Layla and Luke (and his family), such a well-thought-out read. You got to know the MC's and their motives and had some funny laughs whilst doing so.
This was a cute and fun read, this book is great for new romance readers since it read more fluffy than anything else!
I'm not really a fan of office romances because to me they just don't seem that believable. But I ended up loving this one. Though I don't think its going to make office romances one of my go to reads. But I would consider reading more in the future.
totally forgot to review this book, i started it while i was in the biggest reading slump ever and i was actually surprised that i actually finished in just a few days! it was a really quick, easy read, perfect for my reading slump haha. dual pov? workplace romance) friends to lovers?? of course i was going to love it.
thank you netgalley and juliana smith for this e-arc!!
Layla and Luke are best friends as well as coworkers. They are in love with each other, but are scared that they will destroy their friendship if the admit their true feelings. A work trip to the beach helps nudge them to exploring their true feelings.
This is a quick read that lets you fall in love with the main characters as well as Luke’s fabulous family. I am excited to read future books in this series.

A sincere thank you to NetGalley and Juliana Smith for providing me with the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first time reading a book by Juliana Smith, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a delightful book that offered all the positive vibes I needed for this friends-to-lovers, dual POV, workplace romance story. Many parts of the story were relatable and genuine, even making me laugh out loud. I particularly enjoyed the chemistry between Luke and Layla, and how their friends and family were encouraging their relationship.
This book provided the perfect light-hearted read after the series I just finished. I'm looking forward to exploring more of her books soon.
This was a fun friends-to-lovers romance that was mainly character-driven and had lots of feel-good moments. But ultimately, I was disappointed? Friends-to-lovers can be such a delightful trope when done well, but I found myself a bit bored at times when reading this. The main characters spent a lot of time dancing around their feelings for each other, but this didn't really serve to build any tension or create any angst (not until the very end anyway). The stakes felt too low, and it would have been better to see them get together sooner and have the book be shorter. Instead things felt drawn out for no reason. There were definitely some fun and entertaining moments (I'll never forget the term "sugar walls"), but on the whole this felt a bit one-dimensional for me.
Really enjoyed reading this book, had a lot of Laugh Out Loud moments, couldnt put it down. Definitely recomment, hooked from the start
