What a great mutual pining, workplace, friends to lovers book! I kept thinking of Jim and Pam from The Office while I read it. I can’t wait to read the next books in this series!

HOLY COW I DONT HAVE WORDS. She did it again. amazing, I could not put this book down. I love them the guy falls first. This book cemented for me that friends to lovers is such a great troupe.

This book gave me all the fuzzy warm feels I needed. I will be back to write a more cohesive review in a few days.

BUT ADD THIS TO YOUT TBR, PRE ORDER do all the things 💕💕

Listen if Juliana writes I’m gonna read it because I KNOW it’s going to be good. She never disappoints. Every story feels makes me so happy! And PMLE was no different. This was friends to lovers, with little to no tension was exactly what I needed. Do not get me wrong, I LOVE some good tension. And Luke and Layla had some, but it was small, and mostly because of timing and it made sense for them.

Luke and Layla are, uncomfortably, in the friend zone with big feelings towards each other. But neither of them want to risk what they have. But now with job changes and feelings of “why not” and a work trip they both decide now is the time.

They were SO SWEET. They know each other so well and they aren’t afraid to show it. They have so much fun together! All of their office pranks and inside jokes! And when they put it all on the line for each other…it made me so happy!

I liked that it took them getting out of the regular routine to kind of get things really moving. And not just with their feelings, Layla’s writing really got going while they were away too. It was exactly what they needed!

I love Luke’s family! I’m so excited for all of the siblings to get their own stories! And I hope this means we get to see Layla with them more because I love that she got the family she deserves in them, and I want to see more of her with all of them!

And Nathan was honestly amazing. He was such a good friend to both of them! He was cheering them on, making things happen. And I am so happy that his story with Calla is next!!

Thank you so much to Juliana Smith and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This book was so wholesome and cute!! It literally warmed my heart so much. I loved Luke and Layla’s friendship from the start and watching it slowly morph into more was so sweet. They gave me major Jim and Pam from The Office and I loved it!! Their personalities and dynamic together was so great. Definitely a slow burn but the angst and the pining were all there. I really enjoyed Juliana’s writing and I’m looking forward to the next one!

Thank you NetGalley and Juliana Smith for sending me an arc!!

If Juliana writes it, I will read it. Her writing style is the best and she keeps you interested in the book! Per My Last Email was such a cute friends to lovers, office romance. Can’t wait for the next one!

This book exceeded any and all expectations I had! The friendship between Layla and Luke was so beautiful and to read their relationship progression from strangers to best friends to finally admitting their love for each other was so wholesome. Juliana beautifully described the mutual pining, the tension, and (at some points) the awkwardness between the two characters! One of the best things about their relationship is that they challenged each other to reach their dreams without any harshness or judging. The two of them were truly soulmates. The side characters made perfect additions to Layla and Luke’s story (the way his family practically adopted her - i cried) and I absolutely cannot wait for Calla’s and Nathan’s!

James' rating: 4 out of 5 light heartedly sweet stars! ✨

Spice rating: Mild

I almost killed the main characters and when you read the blurb you'll know why. 😂 This was a very good wind down read that sailed along well. Layla was quirky, nerdy, fun and all the other things which was really so fun to read about. Luke was different (in a way good way) and I really liked that I could relate to both main characters which made this a very fun read!

The pranks and the companionship was quite strong in this one. I felt the chemistry between the two main characters worked out pretty well and they just clicked with each other. I do admit about halfway through the book I wanted to chuck both of them into a locked room and not let them out till they confessed to each other. 😂 All in all a very fun, frustrating and fluffy read that I enjoyed reading!

Thank you Victory Editing for this ARC! 💜

I LOVED Baggage Claim and have been anticipating this new book for weeks now!

It did not disappoint one bit! I read it in one night and absolutely adored both main characters!

Layla was was funny, happy and just so sweet and Luke was a sweetheart; a sexy, funny, tall and handsome sweetheart. I like the way Smith made Layla’s character dress modestly at work and I loved that she showed Luke falling for her mind, her personality and her sense of humor first before her beauty!

The scene when they first met was just perfect! It gave me Pam and Jim vibes and made me want to get an office job just to have the kind of fun they were having at work!

The fact that they ended up being best friends was the cutest thing. I just loved the dynamic between the two of them and let’s not forget Nathan of course! Their back and forth banter was hilarious! I can’t believe it took them 3 whole years to act on their feelings, but it was entertaining to watch. It was definitely a slow burn, with only mild spice. I really liked that both characters ended up pursuing their dream careers in the end. Oh and can we talk about how Luke went up to Janice and said “PER MY LAST EMAIL” 😂 I couldn’t stop laughing! Loved all the Star Wars references, I expected nothing less considering the main character's names 😝

I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

This was the first book I've read after my Lenten fasting of "giving up reading" - yes, it was a real sacrifice because I read almost every single day. I devoured PER MY LAST EMAIL within 8 hours. I had heard a good bit of buzz on social media, so I was quick to request it from NetGalley.

Part The Office with a slight sprinkling of The Hating Game, PER MY LAST EMAIL gives us two coworkers madly - unrequitedly - in love with each other.

I think most office romances end in disaster IRL, but for fictional purposes I love this trope. This book was a very slow and long burn.

I think the story could have used a bit more conflict between the two main characters, but the "he falls first" nugget was so sweet and fun.

In typical secret love fashion, our two MCs could have solved a LOT of their longing issues if one had been brave enough to jump out of the friend zone quicker.

Nonetheless, I love when characters love each other for years because it's more than just a longing for a night in the sack.

There were a few typos and a minor formatting issue which I'm sure the author will fix before pub date.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Juliana Smith for providing me an e-copy of PER MY LAST EMAIL to review.

I rate PER MY LAST EMAIL four out of five stars.

O.M.G. How did I NOT know Juliana Smith before this? I LOVED THIS BOOK—adored the first half, anyway! It’s somehow fast-paced and warm and easy to read, the banter is simply amazing by its effortlessness, the characters are everything you’re looking for in this genre—kind, caring, funny, flawed. It’s well in the veins of Lynn Painter, Catherine Walsh, Mhairi McFarlane. Il so glad it’s not her first novel—it means I have found my next reads! And I’ll be looking for the next things Juliana Smith writes.

This book made me swooooon so bad! 😍 I've been dying to read this book, my expectations were so high and you know what? Per My Last Email delivered everything I was hoping for!

Is there anything better than a good - a great!, - friends to lovers trope? Right, that's what I thought. And Juliana Smith did such a fantamazing job with this one! The writing, the story, the characters - both main and side ones! I love this book, if you couldn't tell it by now that is.

Luke and Layla have my whole heart! ❤️
Starting with their friendship - their great and sweet and uhefoirgkbjvuiaeorj friendship, - to their so cute, absolutely adorable relationship.
This is a slow-burn, but holy heavens it's so well written and so well presented that I can only consider this slow-burn as big and fat bonus!

I love Luke and Layla's everything: their pranks, their inside jokes, and OMG Star Wars references? Mentions of Harry Potter?! YES, PLEASE, THANK YOU!
And then of course there are soft moments which I absolutely adored: sweet hugs, brushing hands, slow-dancing, eyes gazing. 🥹

(Also, whenever the book title is mentioned in the book itself? OMFG YES YES YES YES!)

Definitely recommend this one! And if you love the below tropes, then you're 1000% in for a delicious treat:
🍩 office romance
🍩 office pranks
🍩 friends-to-lovers
🍩 slow burn
🍩 amazing side characters

Thank you so much NetGalley, Victory Editing and Juliana Smith for the ARC of this book!

In 'Per My Last Email', the author, Juliana Smith, perfectly captures the joy of the friends to lovers trope! I don't think I've ever rooted harder for two friends to get out of the friend zone as I did for Layla and Luke. They've worked together and secretly pined for each other for three years. At work, they prank each other and their desk mate/friend, Nathan, and they finally enjoy their boring jobs.

When they go to a work retreat (In Ocean City, Maryland, which is one of my favorite vacation spots!!!), Luke sees it as his opportunity to get out of the friend zone. Layla's roommate, Rachel, tells her that she needs to 'take jumps', and she wants Layla to put her feelings out there to Luke. On the trip, the two of them get closer and closer, and their interactions are so sweet.

I was so happy that the story took place in Philadelphia. I'm from Philly, and it was such a nice surprise to see that it was the setting for this book. I also love Ocean City, Maryland, and I was so excited that it was the site for their work retreat.

Overall, I loved Luke and Layla! I loved how the story wraps up, and I'm so happy that it is the beginning of a series about Luke's siblings. I enjoyed his siblings, and I can't wait to read more about them in future books. I am looking forward to updates on Luke and Layla in future books too.

Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing. I recommend this book so much if you love:
-Friends to Lovers
-Office Romances
-Office Pranks
-Hilarious family group texts
-Books set in Philadelphia
-Vacations in Ocean City, Maryland
- No third act breakup

Layla Wright fit in her role as admin at West Oak Publishing about as well as she would at a five star restaurant in her ‘I love DILFS T-shirt’. When she applied to the job she thought she would be learning the ins and outs of the industry to eventually write and publish her own novel. But after years of staying in this same position, she’s unsure of how to break out of her routine and chase her dreams.

Luke Wells knows the words “friend zone” all too well. Staying in a dead-end position at a company he doesn’t care for only has one bonus: Layla Wright. He may hate his job just as much as she does, but she’s the one thing he’s not willing to lose. When Luke finds out he’s up for a promotion, he has to decide how far he’s willing to go to stay close to Layla. With his own dreams of running a bar on the line, is Layla really worth sticking around for—especially when she’s never indicated there will be anything more between them than friendship?

A seaside work conference is just what they need to shake things up and break them out of this tight bubble they’ve been living in for so long. Will they finally be brave enough to go for what they want or will they return home with everything between them unchanged? Boundaries get crossed, lines get blurred, and donuts get eaten.

Wow what a book thank you ever so much for the opportunity to review. I could not put it down. Would definitely recommend to others!

Y’alllllll Jules has done it again!

I don’t normally gravitate to friends to lovers because, while there’s mutual pining involved, I need that soul crushing angst lol.

That said, I absolutely adored this story. Like and Layla are soooo damn sweet, and even though it’s the slowest burn ever, I didn’t find it lacking in the slightest. There were plenty of soft brushes of hands, hugs, dancing, and held gazes to make it all worthwhile.

This story is full of swoon and snark, love and laughter, and is genuinely Juliana’s best work yet!

It comes out May 6th, and you should read if you love:
- friends to lovers, duh
- slow burn
- closed door
- The Office
- pranks and sarcasm
- family vibes/amazing side characters
