This is a second-chance romance, best friends to lovers, closed door, workplace romance about Luke and Layla, our two leads who become best friends after meeting at work and harbour secret feelings for one another.

This book was adorable and charming. The two MCs were both nerdy, loveable and cute with witty banter and great chemistry. This is a slow burn, and I will admit it got frustrating at points only because it was so obvious the characters are head over heels for one another that I wanted them to just snap out of it and realise already! 😂 But that didn’t take away from my enjoyment - I loved the dual pov in this book so you could see the longing and angst from both sides. A super cute, light and funny read!

I LOVED Per My Last Email!

I laughed hysterically on several occasions throughout this book (probably harder that I should have)! I loved Luke and Layla and their relationship. They gave me a Jim and Pam from The Office vibe and I through enjoyed the banter between all of the characters. A perfect light and fun rom-com read for me. I'm so looking forward to reading more about the Wells family!

This book was just beautiful. The true epitome of romance reads. From the very MOMENT I started the book, I knew I’d warm to the characters present, particularly Layla and Luke.

They were such multi-dimensional characters and their relationship was divine. I loved the slow burn of friends with elements tucked in of recognising something more.

The only way to truly explain how this novel made me feel was just warm. I felt like I was holding a hot water bottle inches away from my heart. I loved every single second

I love this book. It's so cute. The writing is effortless. The working/love relationship between the two MCs >>> I'm so invested. This makes me want to pick up Baggage Claim like yesterday

Ugh, just kiss already. Literally what I was thinking the whole time. It took them the whole book to finally get there. Even then, there wasn’t any spice. Which really could have added to the storyline considering their relationship was the whole storyline.

There were really cute details- chapter pictures, office layout sketch, Pedro pascal reference. Some references, weren’t hard to follow.

By the end of the 300 pages, all the characters were on my last nerve. I wish things could have moved faster. Overall unnecessary length.

Quick read. I really wish there was spice.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Juliana Smith for this digital ARC.

“I pay attention to the people I care about. But I notice every single detail about you.”

Layla Wright fit in her role as admin at West Oak Publishing about as well as she would at a five star restaurant in her 'I love DILFS T-shirt'. When she applied to the job she thought she would be learning the ins and outs of the industry to eventually write and publish her own novel. But after years of staying in this same position, she's unsure of how to break out of her routine and chase her dreams. Luke Wells knows the words
"friend zone" all too well. Staying in a dead-end position at a company he doesn't care for only has one bonus: Layla Wright. He may hate his job just as much as she does, but she's the one thing he's not willing to lose. When Luke finds out he's up for a promotion, he has to decide how far he's willing to go to stay close to Layla.
With his own dreams of running a bar on the line, is Layla really worth sticking around for-especially when she's never indicated there will be anything more between them than friendship? A seaside work conference is just what they need to shake things up and break them out of this tight bubble they've been living in for so long. Will they finally be brave enough to go for what they want or will they return home with everything between them unchanged? Boundaries get crossed, lines get blurred, and donuts get eaten.

This was such a cute read! It was a sweet story that includes a slow burn, friends to lovers, workplace romance. I loved Luke and Layla’s friendship and how oblivious they were to how the other felt. Nathan was one of my favorite characters and I hope we get to see more of him in this series. The support from family and friends for not only Luke and Layla’s relationship, but also their dream careers, made my heart swell. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series! Definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a fast paced romance that makes you smile until your cheeks hurt!

Thank you Juliana Smith for an ARC of this book!! Appreciate you!!

This book was cute but, sadly, I didn’t love it! I was obsessed with Baggage Claim and I was hoping this would be my next obsession but it was just too corny for me? It also felt a little scattered with character personalities, character development, different plots, etc.

I wanted to really love it and I didn’t... Interested to see what everyone else thinks!!

In Per My Last Email, we follow Layla and Luke who are colleagues at West Oak Publishing, which Layla unaffectionately nicknames 'Westeros'. Layla is an aspiring author, and Luke doesn't love his job - but he loves sitting next to Layla every day.

This is honestly such a sweet book. I never thought I was a huge fan of friends to lovers, but I was so invested in this story. I was actively rooting for them from the very beginning. I loved their inside jokes, their pranks, family group chats and Star Wars references (being a lover of Star Wars myself). The dual POV was so much fun, as you can read about all the secret yearning from both sides. The two main characters gave me all the warm, fuzzy feelings that I could possibly want.

And honestly, one of the best things about this is that there is no third act break up that we have to deal with!

Per My Last Email is a closed door romance, very sweet, and features fun tropes like: friends to lovers, slow burn, found family and work place romances (with no weird power dynamic).

This one definitely makes me want to pick up more of Juliana Smith's works!

Do you know that pure joy you get from watching looping YT videos of giggling babies or puppies playing because it's literally the only thing that will make you smile? That's exactly how I felt while reading this. So. freaking. adorable.

Like many other reviewers, I immediately got Jim / Pam vibes and overall humor from The Office. Also, throw in Star Wars references AND it takes places in my hometown? Perfection.

Tropes:
Friends to lovers
Writer MC
Workplace romance
Closed door romance

The reason this one is not five stars is because there were parts where Luke felt like too much of a simp, and I also felt like Luke's secret passion wasn't discussed enough to have an impact later on, but either way, really enjoyed this one. Can't wait for the sequel, and definitely reading Juliana's other books.

Thank you to Net Galley and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Once upon a time there was a period in my life where I thought Friends-To-Lovers was the inferior trope… this book is another reminder of how wrong I was.

This is one of the cutest books I’ve ever read! Layla and Luke were adorable and their chemistry was off the charts. The YEARNING. The FRIENDSHIP. The SLOWBURN. It was everything and more.

This is the definition of the perfect beach book. I think I’ll end up rereading it once summer comes along just so I can experience it at the beach.

Read this if you love:
-Friends to lovers
-office romance
-slow-burn
-Jim/Pam vibes
-found (and silly) family
-no sexual content

Was this the best book I read this month, no. But it also wasn't the worst book I read either. The characters were okay, the story was okay, and the setting was okay. It was a slow burn with absolutely zero spice, which is usually not a go-to read for me. It does look like this is a second book planned with friends of the main characters. I will probably read it, depending on the other releases that week. It was a solid 3-star book for me, not reread worthy, but I would recommend it to anyone who likes a clean romance.

This was such a cute one!! Any fans of The Office, you will like this, the MCs have Jim & Pam vibes 🫶 read this one if you like office romances, friends to lovers, mutual secret pining (although I think Luke fell harder), slow burn, office pranks, work conference/getaway aka opportunities to turn into for more than friends and NO 3rd act breakup!😉 it’s closed door but it still had me turning the pages and not wanting to put it down! This is the first in what will be a Wells Family series and I’m definitely going to be checking out the other books as they come out!

Layla and Luke are Star Wars fans, they both love donuts and pranks, and they have just clicked in every way since they started working in West Oak Publishing three years ago. If ever there is a perfect example of Best Friends Forever, they are it. But then they go to a work conference to Ocean City, Maryland, and things begin to change...

Layla describes Ocean City - where she had visited as a kid - as "Euphoric, like visiting one of those perfect desktop backgrounds. Nostalgic and sweet." And being with Luke always makes Layla feel joyful and cozy, like "he was cotton candy and ferris wheels." Well, that is exactly how this book made me feel, and it is the same thing with everything Juliana Smith has ever written - it is feeling like you are among friends and that everything is going to be alright. And that is a wonderful place to be. ❤

This book met the requirements I typically have for a good romcom: made me feel giddy, don’t want to put down, and I don’t want it to end. I adored the references made because they felt very me. From Emperor’s New Groove, to 10 Things I Hate About You (my favorite movie so brownie points for that), to even a small nod to ACOTAR (we do love our hot bat boys), I was hooked. It made it feel very relatable. Reading Luke and Layla’s pranks and mishaps felt like watching Jim and Pam from The Office go through their late 20s in the publishing industry. On a side note, in this arc, there were quite a few typos towards the end that I hope get corrected in the final version, but it didn’t take away from how much I adored this book and I definitely want my own physical copy once it releases!

Luke and Layla work next to each other at West Oak Publishing and are absolutely, madly in love with each— but neither of them knows this. After a misunderstanding in the beginning of the novel that puts Luke in the friend zone, the two spend the next three years as best friends while secretly pining for each other. A work conference to Ocean City poses the opportunity to change this (in this words of the great Lizzo— “it’s about d*mn time”) and things get…flirty. Can Luke break himself out the friend zone? Will Layla finally take the jump? I’m leaving out details because you need to read this! :)

Thank you to NetGalley and Juliana Smith for a copy of this arc in exchange for an honest review!

I found this book so cute and fluffy! I definitely felt butterflies in tummy for these two idiots who just needed to confess their feelings for each other all this time!

Layla works at West Oak Publishing, she merely applied to get to know more the publishing industry to write her own book. Here she meets Luke, who took the job to make ends meet. They both over time gave up on their dreams, thinking they were friend-zoned for 3 whole years and deciding it was time to put in the work to make one another fall in love with them.

“Three years, thirteen years, thirty, I don’t care; I would’ve waited it our if it meant I could have you.”

Luke and Layla give off major Jim and Pam vibes in this cutesy rom-com! this story was adorable and had me cheesing and cackling through the whole thing! both mc’s are total nerds and their references to some fan favorites (Star Wars, ACOTAR, etc) were spot on! even though I don’t understand how it took sooooo long for them to finally open up about their feelings (some hard core miscommunication going on), they ended up making a great couple!

“It’s pretty fun, watching the two of you dance around each other with your eyes closed”

the friendships, pranks, inside jokes, and cute moments made this book so enjoyable! be sure to check out this new release that is coming May 6!!!

This book was a super sweet & funny with office romance with will they, won’t they vibes.

I loved both main characters! Both Layla and Luke have this little bubble they live in filled with inside jokes and nicknames, which I thought was very cute. They’re both also wildly supportive of each others dreams and we see this from start to finish.

I did have an issue with the miscommunication in the book - I mean it’s so plainly obvious how much they love eachother so I found myself a lil frustrated with them! I think friend zoning and miscommunication can be done well when there’s a build up of tension, however they were both just obsessed with eachother the whole time?

Overall, it was definitely a cute and easy read!
