In Defense of Charlotte continues the saga of the Ackerman and Collins families. Charlotte finds herself embroiled in legal difficulties and, once again, Maggie Reynolds finds herself back in Georgia defending a client in a seemingly impossible case. Several sub plots include inter action with a law school professor, upcoming election campaigns, a wrongful death personal injury case and a products liability claim to mention a few. All of these are woven together in an interesting and skillful manner. The legal maneuverings are superb and the trial scenes are immensely satisfying and compel the reader to continue reading nonstop.
This book is recommended for all devotees of this genre and I thank NetGalley and Severn River Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this novel prior to publication and I anxiously await Joe Cargile’s next novel.
For some reason, this book was confusing. So many stories and too many characters…that being said, the author is talented at writing a novel of intrigue. I persevered and enjoyed the main story of Charlotte. She was a realistic character and would make a great central character in a television series. The trial of Charlotte was the central theme despite the outlying stories. The outcome was not easily guessed. This was an unusual mystery. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. Enjoy this novel of intrigue.
