From the start of this story the characters engaged me. There is also a multitude of blessings in Henry Adams, which is great as all the characters are likeable and considerate. They made me laugh and some of the real-life issues that they deal with or have had to deal with were heartwarming to read. Sweetly romantic, stimulates the emotions in a deep way with forthright praise and suggestion. Can't wait to read more about this community in the future, they'd left a good, enticing and entertaining impression. I received a free copy and voluntarily chose to leave this review.
I love the characters in this series. They all have interesting layers. This is a multigenerational story. The town is such an interesting concept. The writing is very good. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
A Christmas to Remember is a great addition to Beverly Jenkins Blessing series. It can be read as a stand alone or as part of the series. It is always great to revisit characters from prior books and see how they are making out. In this book we are getting ready for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. A new chef has come to town and he just may be what the female priest needs in her life. I highly recommend this book.
I was so excited to read the latest installment of life in Henry Adams. Over the years I have enjoyed the catching up of the original characters with new ones added each time. Light and fluffy, its just one of those series that makes you feel good.
Beverly Jenkins', "A Christmas to Remember", is the continuing saga of the people living and working in a small town in Kansas. Never having read any of the previous stories, I was enchanted to discover the variety of characters Ms. Jenkiins has created. The writing is clear, purposeful, uplifting with a little somethiing for everyone, including humor and generosity of spirit. This book can be read as stand alone. My take away after reading this episode is to check out previous works done by this author. Congratulations Ms. Jenkins in writing a wonderful saga of hope and goodwill in keeping with the holiday spirit.
My thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy to review.
The trip back to Henry Adams was like a vacation I thought I would never get to take, but was so glad the day came to take the trip. Add on the different stories of the residents we missed like family was a good bit of excitement that was needed for my reading enjoyment. Can't wait for the next trip to Henry Adams.
I enjoy d this book. Isn’t something I’d probably read again but it was a cute book about an adorable small town.
I really loved this book it was the first book I’ve read by this author and I can’t wait to read more I really got me into the holiday feels it was a very cute winter read!
The town of Henry Adams is like nowhere else in literature. The place and people Jenkins has brought to life over the years is so dear, and this chapter of that story was especially wonderful because we got to see the matriarch of this beloved town head down the aisle. There's nowhere I'd rather spend Christmas than in Henry Adams.
I’m always thankful for the little snippets/references of the community history that Mrs. Jenkins gives in the beginning. Never fails at making me want to re-read the entire series again before delving into the new work. As always, masterfully written and left me wanting to visit Henry Adams (in summer tho, I’m not about the snow life described). Love the character staples but appreciative that she continues to grow the world of these characters - giving us so many more people to fall in love with. Introduction of “Brain”’s bio family and Thorn has me eagerly awaiting the next stories. There’s always so many places the author can go with things that my brain reels with ideas for her. I wanted more wedding details but just enough given to make me anxiously await these future flashbacks. 5 stars, but I’ve come to expect nothing less from the author.
I received a free copy of, A Christmas to Remember, by Beverly Jenkins, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 11 in the Blessings Books series. Bernadine Brown bought a town, not many people can say that. Everything is not well in Henry Adams, Bernadine's town. Her relationship with Malachi is up and down, on or off, but now they are engaged and planning a church wedding. There is a lot going on in this little town at Christmas, An enjoyable festive read.
A Christmas to Remember will surely delight the longstanding fans of the Blessings series. It isn't intended to be a stand-alone but instead serves as a kind of extended epilogue revisiting characters beloved by many.
Though I've only read a couple of the novels in this series, Jenkin's writing style was enough to entertain, and the long-awaited romance of the Reverend was sweeter than candy canes.
Some peripheral antagonists were slightly flat, but I assume this was due to my lack of familiarity with the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC. This review contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
A Christmas to Remember is a book to remember. From the first book of this series to this, the last book, you were never disappointed. Ms. Jenkins took you on a historical journey to the plains of Kansas where you learned things about Black History that you never knew before and were rooting for each character and situation as if you knew them personally. I wish there was a real town called Henry Adam's to visit just to get a feel of black life on a frontier. I loved this series and am sorry to see it end. Can't wait to see what Ms. Jenkins is working on and has in store for us next!
