Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for granting me early access to this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you’re looking for poetry such as her first book Pillow Thoughts or the likes of Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey, this book falls short. More prose than poetry, it reads like little self help inspirations that get repetitive as the book goes on.
I rated it three stars because when there is a poetry piece, Peppernell delivers with her usual beauty and clarity.
I enjoyed this, and it is definitely something I would recommend to my friends and family. I felt it was relatable and not cryptic (i find more cryptic poetry to be less enjoyable as it's hard to follow and relate to). Writing reviews for poetry is hard because everyone has a different experience with the same book, but for me it was a pleasant one because of my personal experiences. I loved how there was images incorporated, they were adorable and lifted some of the pressure put on by the heavier topics. It sort of evened it out a bit. I have read from the author in the past, and will continue to do so in the future!
Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for an arc!
Firstly I want to acknowledge that I went into this book with the wrong expectations! I interpreted the synopsis and cover as a whimsical fantasy story told through poems with themes of overcoming struggle. In reality this is more of a self help poetry collection.
The poetry was a bit too heavy handed for me personally and I felt that it was very on the nose at times.
I will say the illustrations within this book and on the cover are really stunning!
I love Courtney Peppernell's writing. I return to the original Pillow Thoughts often and have read every subsequent collection she's released.
Time Will Tell is very much in Peppernell's wheelhouse. The poems are homey and insightful, ranging from heart wrenching reflections to swift observations about the speaker and their place within the world. Some are more successful than others, but overall, this is a solid collection that will leave you with Peppernell's trademark mixture of hope and revelry.
Big thanks to Andrews McMeel and NetGalley for providing an eARC in exchange for honest review consideration.
This was such a cozy little gem. Much like her other works the prose is beautiful and really touched me. Cannot wait to get a physical copy.
Just as beautiful and poignant as the rest of Peppernell's poetry, Time Will Tell is no exception! Beautiful and thought provoking. I loved it.
Time Will Tell is a cozy little poetry collection that touched me. I related to many of the poems and the emotions that Courtney is expressing in them. There were so many poems that I know that I will reread repeatedly. I’m definitely going to pick up a copy for my poetry collection and I cannot wait to read more of Courtney’s poems.
In "Time Will Tell," Courtney Peppernell's collection of thoughtful poems, she makes a deep connection with readers by writing about growth, resilience, and self-discovery. Peppernell's work is poetic and evocative. It makes people think about themselves and shows the secret truths that confusion and social standards often hide. Her powerful words and vivid images make us think about our own problems and help us accept ourselves and grow.
"Time Will Tell" shows how much Peppernell has grown as a writer because it has a smooth style and a story that builds on each piece. Her unique way of doing things explores new aspects, giving fans a new and exciting experience. Peppernell's place as a best-selling author is cemented by this book. Its beautiful words encourage readers to accept their inner beauty and power, leaving behind hope, inspiration, and thoughtfulness.
4/5 Stars from me.
***A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.***
The beginning was good, kept my attention. The middle was lacking with a few great pieces sprinkled in, but then the end was really good. Loved the ode to a butterfly, I feel it was a great conclusion to the collection. I had just gone through a friendship breakup myself and some of the poems really spoke volumes to me, it’s nice to know you’re not the only one feeling your feelings. This book reminded me that I’m not alone, I’m by myself. Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing!
“Time Will Tell” is a great cozy book about poems. It is filled with focusing on loving yourself and getting to know yourself. I resonated a lot and it had me stop to think. It was beautifully written. It was a nice quick read but it was also something that you could take your time to read and think about it. It brings into perspective of how hard life really is.
I didn’t realize how badly I needed to hear some of the poems in this book. It beautifully articulated emotions I have had difficulty putting into words. Beautifully written and highly recommend.
I loved the artwork.
Some of the poems hit hard, especially in my post break up gloom.
Definitely a good read if you're struggling to find the words to explain how you feel, or if you're looking for a little motivation to rise up.
I received an advance copy from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Courtney Peppernell does it again with Time Will Tell!
She is now my new favorite poet. Her use of imagery in her poems is amazing. But, put that along with her tales of loss, grief, and having hope is the best I have ever read. Many of the poems resonated with me and my personal life very much.
Courtney Peppernell is an author that I would read her grocery list and enjoy it. The fact that she is able to connect with so many people through her words is absolutely incredible.
5/5 stars.
Will be reading any book Courtney Peppernell releases from here on out.
This book is such a cozy, comforting journey. Her voice is awash in acceptance and self-love, guiding us from pain to healing, reminiscent of Rupi Kaur but more flowery. I loved it watching her process her emotions, finding wisdom and beauty throughout, and would definitely seek out more from Courtney Peppernell. Note: I would categorize this as instapoetry, which is not everyone’s cup of tea but I appreciate for its accessibility.
Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel for the ARC!
I love every one of the books by this author that I've ever picked up. I don't know how she manages not to make her stuff sound repetitive. It is always such a beautiful blend of stuff that's been worked through and the light at the end of the tunnel.
I think I always forget that she's both LGBTI+ and Australian.
This is a lot less raw than previous collections, and I found so many motivators inside that I wouldn't be able to list them all in a review.
Once again, this is a book split into sections, 6 this time. These are 'The Reflections', 'The Repairing', 'The Change', 'The Awakening', 'The Emerging' and 'The Rebirth'.
And, yeah, as we went along, there were definitely more motivational poems taking up the sections. There were also gorgeous page sized images at the beginning of each new section.
his book was a picture of life through change. It made me think about life during COVID and about those feelings of depression and angst that everyone had to handle and work through. Each poem showcased a different stage in the process of growing and changing but I felt like each part blending into each other and there were not distinct difference.
Pros: easy read, makes you think about life
Cons: not the best book to read if you are already feeling down
Cute little poems about self healing, along with some little short stories. I preferred the little stories over the actual poems. Adorable little drawing to go along with the "metamorphosis" of healing. Great for those to know they are not alone through times of loss and hardships
I always enjoy Courtney Peppernell’s work. I felt this was missing just a little something that her other work has had but I love how the accompanying sketches and felt this still had the magical feel much of her other work has had.

reflection and repair.
healing and strength.
growth and change.
If you’re going through a rough time, or are facing loss (of yourself, or someone else), or have self-doubts, you’ll definitely find comfort and reassurance within these pages.
Courtney’s poetry always seems to find me at the right time, like a moth drawn to a flame.
This will be one I treasure and come back to when I need that reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I absolutely judged this book by its cover, but having read all others by this writer, I knew it would be good.
Time Will Tell covers the journey of grieving, healing, awakening, emerging en rebirth.
Creating beauty out of dark times through prose and poetry. I'm mostly here for the poems, but the stories are equally impressive.
Thank you Netgalley an Andrew McMeel Publishing for the ARC.
