RIVETING ROMANTIC SUSPENSE!

“…I can’t think of anyone who might be after me, except the man who killed me.”

When a quote like that exists in a book, you know there is an intriguing plot! There have been very few books I have ever read twice in my almost 65 years of living. Author Elizabeth Goddard’s newest release, Shadows at Dusk (Missing in Alaska Book 2), is on that shortlist! It is a riveting romantic suspense! The first time I read it, I believed it was my favorite of Goddard’s releases. After reading it the second time, I am even more convinced of it! (I read at least ten or more books between readings.)

Goddard hits all the points of excellent romantic suspense for me since she uses suspense to build the romance. She has created multidimensional characters who display both ends of the spectrum regarding good and evil. Goddard has a plot that is interesting, unique, and complex and entangles two broken, hurting people learning to trust each other to survive the pursuit of their lives. This book is dynamic from the first page to the last!

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own and without influence.

Loved this book! I was so glad to be able return to Alaska with Elizabeth Goddard. You do not have to have read the first book in the series to fully enjoy this one (although you should because it's also wonderful.) I adored Trevor - he was the perfect mix of wounded and alpha. And Carrie is no wilting flower - she's a strong, delightful heroine who can hold her own as needed.

From Africa to Alaska you are on an exciting adventure. While Autumn plays a supporting role in this story, she does have a key part. The main characters are a couple heading for romance while searching for a missing person. Several nail-biting moments. An exciting page turner. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary. I look forward to reading more by Elizabeth Goddard.

Montana Detective Trevor West is on a quest to discover what happened to his sister, who has been missing in Alaska for the past year. A new clue has surfaced and Trevor feels he must explore the clue in person. In order to suss out the answer behind the clue, Trevor enlists the help of bush pilot Carrie James.

Carrie is carrying her own trauma from a life lived as a bush pilot in Africa. Because of that past, Carrie does not trust easily, and keeps to herself. However, she can't help but feel she is called to help Trevor. And she enlists him in her quest for the truth behind her friends death in exchange for helping him find his sister.

While I haven't read the first book in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed Shadows at Dusk. No need to read book one first. The danger was often palpable, I loved taking a journey through rural Alaska, and I loved watching Trevor and Carrie find truth, forgiveness and love.

If I ever need to hide out I'm not sure if Alaska is the place to go or to avoid! HA! The was a thrill ride from the first chapter and just kept going! I enjoyed learning more about what it's like to live in such a remote area. And as always the romance was on point!

You want suspense? Grab this novel and you'll find lots of suspense, hardly any pages without. The main characters are really lovely and the story that unfolds in Alaska is more than gripping.

In her prologue, Goddard writes, “I couldn’t write a story about a bush pilot in Alaska without taking my readers on a wild and crazy ride, so I invite you to strap in tight and hold on tight.” - Great advice!

We are presently in Alaska …again… because, like this book, I couldn’t pass on another opportunity for adventure and pristine wilderness. Both this trip and ‘Shadows At Dusk’ provided an inspirational adventure and rejuvenating quiet time.

In short: A missing person. A murder victim. And two hurting people seeking justice, connected in ways they could never imagine.

Montana Detective Trevor West arrives in Shadow Gap, a small town nestled in a fjord of the Alaskan Panhandle (SE Alaska) seeking answers. Police Chief Autumn Long suggests he hire an experienced bush pilot and points him towards Carrie James. When Carrie hears that West is searching for answers surrounding his sister’s death a year ago, she agrees to take him if he’ll agree to her stipulation: he must agree to the harrowing quest of tracking down Carrie’s friend’s killer. Determined, the two join forces and head off with minimal clues - it’s a wild ride!

Staying on course is something you’d expect from an experienced bush pilot. However, standing in Carrie’s shoes, I realized that it’s not so easy when there’s a ruggedly handsome detective sitting beside you taking up space in a small plane. The interplay between these two with tragic pasts is heartwarming. The reader knows that they need to trust each other before (1) healing can begin and before (2) they can complete their mission. Waiting for the connection and trust to build was a wonderful part of this story and gave me pause to collect my breath from the wild ride.

The adrenaline-fuelled adventure fed my need for a fast-paced story and satisfied my inner sleuth, while the faith aspect provided ample reflection and introspection. I absolutely loved being able to identify with the characters’ spiritual struggles and loved that they included God in their quest.

The romance warmed my heart and I loved the message about forgiveness, redemption, and hope.

Goddard has the perfect recipe for this series and I can’t wait for book three.

An excellent, fast paced thriller, set in Alaska with interesting plotting. I loved Carrie, the main character, and the beautiful descriptive, wilderness setting. Carrie is a bush pilot with a troubled past who becomes involved in the search for a missing woman. There is plenty suspense, tension and drama to occupy the reader to the last page. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

This was an on your seat action/suspense. Loved the characters. Carrie was a strong, independent woman who went through a lot to be where she was, and she is determined not to let anyone take away her life now. Trevor has been lost and desperate since his sister disappeared nearly a year ago without any leads. He haas come to Alaska to find her, and needs Carrie's help in doing so.
The pieces of what happened to his sister are slowly pieced together as other mysteries come to light. How everything is connected was awesome. Highly recommend.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Trevor comes to Alaska to find his sister, who went missing the previous year and Carrie is the pilot who eventually agrees to take him around to places show in photographs taken by his sister. Near the beginning of the story Carrie loses her good friend and someone who has been with her for years in Alaska. She agrees to pilot Trevor if he'll track her friends killer. A threatening note, stolen photographs and people who seem to know where these two are at all times, makes for a page turning story while these two try to stay alive and find answers at the same time. We do see Chief Long, Nolan and Grier briefly as well.

A complimentary copy was provided by Revell via NetGalley. A review was not required and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Action from the very beginning. Carrie James is a bush pilot in Alaska. She is hiding from her past or rather the man who pushed her out of a plane that was in flight 10 years ago in Africa when she caught him smuggling. When Isaac, the man that saved her is found dead, she believes he was murdered, she agrees to help a Montana detective, Trevor West, look for his missing sister, Jennifer, following some photos that she took and left for him in case something happened to her.

This story is a roller coaster ride of suspense, excitement, edge of your seat, hold on tight, what's going to happen next. It seems like every time you think Carrie and Trevor are going to be safe something else happens. They have bad guys following them every step of the way to try and stop them from finding out the truth behind the death of Isaac and Jennifer's disappearance. Sheriff Autumn Long and her husband Grier from the first book show up in this story too. Besides all the action and suspense there is the element of faith as Carrie and Trevor ask God to help them throughout their journey and the romance that is building between them.

Detective Trevor and seaplane pilot Carrie both have skeletons in their past, but can they team up in the wilds of Alaska to solve the murders of the two people closest to them? With lots of twists and turns, takeoffs and landings, and dangerous mine treks, they figure out who is after them, and in the process, they find mutual respect and love with each other.

Settle in for this action-packed, suspenseful journey that I couldn’t put this nail-biting adventure story down. My heart instantly went out to Carrie James who was betrayed in the worst way. It was so unexpected that this novel would transport readers from Africa to remote areas of the stunning state of Alaska. After successfully hiding from her past, in walks Montana Detective Treavor West, he seeks her help in tracking down a lead about the disappearance of his sister. He hopes Carrie will help him in pursuing the few leads he has.

Carrie Is trying to track down the lead with Treaver and not be distracted by his blue eyes. They had a job to do. She had to remain concentrated on the mission, not the handsome man. Treavor and Carrie lack the tools necessary to deal with the danger that surrounds them on all sides. Both the reader and the characters are unsure of their prospects for survival. I like how the author threw in lots of twists and turns, which made This a page-turning novel.

I admire the author’s ability to craft a compelling mystery that is laced with a subtle spiritual undertone, a touch of romance, and potentially dangerous drama. If you enjoy reading romantic suspense that involves solving intriguing mysteries, apprehending murderers, tearing apart webs of corruption and greed, and pursuing justice for all, then this is the book for you.

This is a book you won’t soon forget. It’s one that would be great for your next book club pick. I’m looking forward to the author’s next exciting adventure in Alaska.

Travel to the dense forests and sparsely populated lands of Alaska.
Suspense, mystery, attempted murder, and more will keep you turning the pages.
The characters are well developed.
You will love this book!

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Trevor is on a mission to find his missing sister. It seems she was investigating a mining dispute.

Little did Trevor know the pilot he has hired is connected to the mining issue and his sisters disappearance. As they get answers to his sisters whereabouts a year ago the more danger they appear to get in.

Carrie is falling for Trevor and because of her treacherous past she tries to deny those feelings but the danger brings them closer together and they learn to trust each other. Is it too late?

The setting in the wilds of Alaska invited me into the pages of this book and the plot and characters kept me there all the way to the end. The premise is that Trevor West, a detective from Montana, arrives in Alaska with the sole purpose of finding out what happened to his missing sister Jennifer. Jennifer left behind photos but no other clues about her strange disappearance, so Trevor seeks the help of intrepid bush pilot Carrie James. Carrie has just suffered a devastating loss when her mechanic and best friend Isaac is murdered, so she agrees to help Trevor follow the clues in the photos if he will help her find who killed Isaac. The hunt is on, for Jennifer and for Isaac’s murderer, but it is not without peril to the determined duo. Just when I thought things were calming down, something else happened to bring danger closer to both Carrie and Trevor and anyone whom they question. Something strange is going on in the wilderness and the trail these two follow is scattered with bread crumbs and false leads. The plot is fast-paced and heart-in-your-throat thrilling as they get closer to the bad guys who are set on taking them out before their deeds are uncovered. The plot is believable and completely engrossing, with an addictive mystery as well as a developing romance. I enjoyed getting to know Trevor and Carrie, but I especially enjoyed some of the native characters like Elias and Rip, men who are not afraid of danger or taking chances to help others. There is an underlying faith element in the story that is the glue that holds it together as the lives of the main characters are being ripped apart. The plot threads are intricate and masterfully woven together into the stunning landscape of Alaska. With sharp writing and authentically riveting details, the author tells a story that is rich and intriguing. I cannot wait for the next book in the Missing In Alaska series, although each book can definitely be read as a standalone.

On the fence, something about this series isn't ringing true for me. I enjoyed it but at the same time, it left me frustrated and wanting more from the story. Too jumpy between scenes.

This book was so good. I was hooked from the very first page and didn't want to put it down.
The writing was fantastic, the characters were relatable, and it ended well.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Elizabeth Goddard is one of my go to authors, everything I've read from her is great, and this one sure didn't disappoint!

Evil flowing between countries, from Africa to remote Alaska, and yet, these people of faith try to thwart it.

Carrie James is a miracle walking, and she knows it, but as this read opens her life is about to take a big change drastically.

Enter Montana Detective Treavor West, desperate to find clues as to what happened to his sister, she left a few clues for him, and he enlists Carrie to help.

We are soon facing danger at all coming from all angles, and we wonder if any or whom will survive.

I love the way this author's mind works, and most of what happens I never see coming, and I was soon immersed in the beautiful state of Alaska, and these folks who are there to hopefully overthrow the evil that is penetrating here! Unfortunately, there is murder, and greed, and some sweet romance.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

Shadows at Dusk is a great follow up novel to the first of the Missing in Alaska series. I loved the setting of Alaska and the two main characters. They had wonderful chemistry and the build up to a relationship between them was written well. The suspense was high at all times and I had difficulty putting it down because I wanted to find out what happened next.
