I thought this cookbook was very well-balanced in terms of recipes, stories, and explanations of different types of seafood. Definitely the kind of book I can see buying for someone's beach house or someone who loves seafood and wants to try different types.

With an emphasis on New England seafood and ingredients, this cookbook has many exciting recipes. With clear instructions for dishes that are great for home cooks, this book is a worthy addition for those cooking saltwater-based seafood.

I wish it was less saltwater and East Coat based.

I’m not big on fish itself, but I can eat a firm white fish like cod. Shellfish, however, is a totally different story! This book really fed my soul and soon the recipes will feed my family, as shellfish season kicks off in a few more months. Lobster, Crab, Shrimp…get in our bellies!

Well written. It had me smelling the coast as I read and it had me drooling over the recipes and seafood talk. Don’t miss out…get the book and plan your own summer fresh meals in advance!

Amazing cookbook! The photos are great, the recipes look appetizing! Even made me want to try some seafood that I haven’t tried yet. There are recipes for lobster, scallops, oysters, mussels, clams, crabs, shrimp, white fish, salmon and more. Then there are recipes for condiments and sauces. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

I adored this cookbook. I think it's absolutely scrumptious and being a coastal girl I thought this was a spectacular cookbook. This cookbook is loaded with beautiful sharp crisp photos of seafood recipes. But not just seafood. Towards the end of the cookbook, there are also dessert recipes and recipes for those who might not like seafood but still want a coastal healthy eating element and those recipes address that also.

I do take issue with the title being 'Coastal' Kitchen, I should be East Coastal Kitchen. Jenny is from Cape Cod. Almost everything featured in her book is from back east not other areas with coastlines in the United States. I am from the Central Coast of California, Monterey Bay Aquarium country and not once does Jenny talk about the well know Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch which has an app even and is VERY comprehensive far more than the devoted one page only to choosing sustainable seafood. Very little space is devoted in her cookbook to this important issue if a cookbook is featuring widely seafood. I would fix this before publishing because it is vital that we talk also about mercury levels in fish and devote more to choosing fish that is healthy for us. For someone like me that was born and raised on a coast and raised on seafood talking about the oceans and fish health and sustainability seems vital in a seafood cookbook.

I would like to thank Net Galley, the publisher Globe Pequot for the opportunity to read and review Coastal Kitchen by Jenny Shea Rawn.

Awesome cookbook for your northern friends missing home! I liked how all the recipes were grouped by the type of shellfish and the nutritional values for all recipes. The cookbook's images and layout was designed very aesthetically pleasing. The pictures of the recipes are great as well as the author with her ingredients. I am a lover of oysters, fish tacos, and mussels, this is a great cookbook for all of those. I am definitely going to try to make the grilled shrimp with chimichurri, it looks amazing! Added bonus was the author's take on seafood charcuterie and desserts. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of recipes, its is very thorough with a mixture of cuisines.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Coastal Kitchen.

I ❤❤❤ seafood so Coastal Kitchen was right up my alley.

The author is very knowledgeable about seafood; the varieties, how to store and preserve it, how to find and buy the freshest seafood either at your local fishmonger or at your supermarket.

The recipes are generally not difficult to make, and there are many variations to play around with.

I also like the section on condiments, how to make tartar and cocktail sauce. So easy!

Everything tastes better homemade.

The dishes are well photographed, and the book is an ode to the wonderful seafood found in our oceans.

Sadly, this just reminded me of how much pollution is clogging our waters and if we don't take more aggressive action, marine life and eating seafood will no longer exist or remain feasible as a healthy food source.

I just reviewed Coastal Kitchen by Jenny Shea Rawn. #CoastalKitchen #NetGalley

This book makes me want to move where fresh fish is readily available. Although the author does also talk about using frozen, canned, dried etc. I am a picky eater, but many of the recipes sounded delicious.

Wow, a book that promised nourishing food in the title...are we to assume that all other cookbooks are not full of nourishing food? (LOL...) Sorry, some things are so obviously inane at times.

A great book for seafood if you can afford it- wonderfully yummy-looking and sounding recipes. I live a long way from any ocean or sea coast but this would be perfect for anyone who can get the food non-frozen and not so old: I paid $19 for a smallish tuna fillet last week so that was a rare treat (I don't eat ham so was taking my own food to a family Easter dinner) as I usually have to use canned seafood for our budget these days: even food basics are super-expensive everywhere it seems.

Will recommend it to anyone looking for everyday seafood recipes but I don't think that our branch will get it as most of our clientele struggles to afford basic food, much less $eafood fresh from the shore.
