I don’t read many crime thrillers, but S.A. Cosby has quickly become an auto-read author for me over the last few years. His non-stop action is always paired with beautiful, heartbreaking prose. Cosby’s latest southern noir novel contains a bit less action and a bit more suspense and character examination, which is perhaps why it is my favorite book of his yet.

All the Sinners Bleed is a gritty procedural that follows Titus, a once-FBI agent who has returned to his rural Virginia hometown to become the first Black county sheriff. Titus’ FBI experience is put to the test when he must pursue a cold-blooded serial killer. This novel felt like a season of True Detective in book form, and I say that as a compliment.

All The Sinners Bleed was a dark and disturbing thriller, and a fascinating look at the forces of religion and latent prejudice in small town Virginia. Highly recommend!

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the audiobook. I really enjoyed listening to Adam Lazarre-White’s narration! This book releases June 6th.

S.A. Cosby has done it again and continues to show why he’s an auto-buy author for me! Our MC, Titus Crowne is the first black sherriff in the history of the county and with that role comes great responsibilty but also huge expectations from the black community.

One of the most popular and admired teachers is fatally shot by one of his students. What we don’t know is why!? Why did this student take the life of the teacher? The investigation of this case take us down a dark dark road of secrets and on a search to find someone/answers we didn’t know would need to be discovered.

I’ve read Razorblade Tears and Blacktop Wasteland and I would say All The Sinners Bleed is probably the darkest of the 3 but also there is a sad reality of the things happening in real life. Buckle up because you’re in for a fast-paced, emotional, dark ride. I highly recommend but this one you’ll definitely wanna check the triggers. Happy Reading!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Flatiron Books and Macmillan Audio for gifting me an audio ARC of the latest thriller by S. A. Cosby and wonderfully narrated by Adam Lazarre-White - 5 stars!

After leaving the FBI, Titus Crowne is back in his hometown in Charon County, Virginia, and has become the county's first Black sheriff. But a year into his tenure, a school shooting rocks the county. A beloved teacher is shot down by a Black student, and Titus' white deputies fire a fatal shot. The investigation uncovers many secrets, including that the student had been abused by the teacher and one suspect is still out there.

There's a lot of current themes throughout this novel, as well as just a really good thriller/suspense story - racism, abuse, religion, family secrets, as well as views on police and school shootings. I was pulled into this audiotape and listened every chance I had. Titus was such a good character - would love to see more of him in another book, please!

ALL THE SINNERS BLEED by S.A. Cosby and read by Adam Lazarre-White is the gritty and fantastic story I was expecting from this auto-read author.

4.5 Stars.

I have found that S.A. Cosby is in a genre of his own. Is "Grit. Lit." a thing? If it is, Cosby is King. This goes beyond a gritty tale of sordid activity in a smaller town dealing with ghosts of racists past and present, but goes deep into areas of power, safety, and trust.

Titus is the first Black sheriff in Charon County and when a school shooting ends with his officers killing the shooter, it seems like the narrative should be easy. When it is discovered that the victim of the shooter was involved in heinous activities and bodies are found, a much deeper thread is pulled.

I felt like this story, while horrific and did have graphic details, could have been more graphic and I am glad it was not. I felt like this struck a perfect balance of enough but not over the top. I get a bit nervous with audiobooks knowing it will get gritty as I don't necessarily have the ability to skim over if I need to! I was prepared for this one and felt like the narration was superb. There was the audible disdain and horror presented, as well as the steely determination of Titus to solve this case and not cave to pressures of various sides. I did listen at 2x speed which was just right.

I really love the way Cosby takes a whole trove of interconnected issues, combines them all and with precision, crafts a highly entertaining narrative that makes me cringe, think, gasp, and applaud. The take-downs are obvious, calling out the charlatans in our society.

I clearly enjoyed this most recent offering of Cosby's. While my favorite is still probably Blacktop Wasteland, this one is a close contender for top.

Thank you to @netgalley and @macmillan.audio for @flatiron_books for this ALC and having me share my thoughts. This will be a perfect, hot, summer read and it comes out June 6!

All the Sinners Bleed by S. A. Cosby was a phenomenal story.
A really outstanding crime thriller.
His characters such as Titus here really showed how hard it is being a black man and sheriff in a small town in Virginia.
The novel was fast paced and kept me engaged the whole time, the twists were well done.
An absolute masterpiece. A dark, gritty and raw story. But one is was sucked into and hated to see it end.
S. A. Cosby can write such amazing stories and keeps the reader engaged and wanting to do absolutely nothing other than stay glued to this book.
The narrater Adam Lazarre-White really outdid himself here.

I received an audio ARC of this and it was so dark and gritty. ⁣

Titus is the local sheriff and the story is mostly centered around him and his moral compass and his small town.⁣

First there’s a school shooting. Then there’s a serial killer, taking teenagers and murdering them in dark twisted ways, leaving words from the bible.⁣

Questioning his faith, fighting his own demons, Titus is trying to find a killer and protect his family and his town. This book is dark and raw, nonstop action from start to finish. So many layers, politics, and questions surrounding this small town and their faith. ⁣
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am amazed by how S A Cosby's books, so excellent on audio, completely draw me in (make me want to hit traffic so I can listen longer!) and how the author takes such heavy topics, handles them with clarity, confidence, and depth, and makes listeners invested in the characters and stories, even as the topics get appropriately challenging. All the Sinners Bleed is such a nuanced study of once again race, identity, and the complexity of identity in today's world, particularly in the South.

Cosby's study of not just the people and the crime/police themes but of the communities involved in the story (be it the physical Charon county, the festival, or recognizing the Black community is nuanced, rich, and simply haunting in the best possible way.

If you like Cosby this is a win. If you are new to him... welcome. I think of intense literary writers such a McCormac, Ivy Pochada, Stephen Graham Jones. This is a big win, especially with the perfect narrative style of Adam Lazarre-White on the audiobook.

Thank you to MacMillan audiobook, via NetGalley, for the chance to be back in Cosby's immersive writing.

S.A. Cosby is an auto-buy author for me and his latest follows his previous novels with a dark, gritty story about the American south. He does another excellent job blending suspense, thrill and crime with societal problems and biases. While not the main storyline, the event's surrounding the town festival brought some amazing imagery and haunting writing. This one felt like the beginning of a series and I would love to go back to Charon County in the future. Once again, Adam Lazarre-White does a fabulous job bringing Cosby's characters to life - the duo really have something special together.

This story was perfectly rough and gritty. The story keeps you engaged, while the writing keeps you reading. I highly love this author and I would recommend his other novels.

I listened to All the Sinners Bleed on audio and firstly want to say that the narration was absolutely fantastic!
While I enjoyed listening to the book, it didn't blow me away the the way Razorblade tears did. It was fast paced and engaging, but I was not emotionally invested the way I should have been, given the subject matter.
I felt bombarded with dozens of characters, who weren't very well fleshed out and easy to forget or confuse with each other. Titus, the sheriff and hence our main character was the only one with any kind of depth to him, tho I found his romantic side story unnecessary and distracting. Titus had the occasional quotable line, but I missed the witty banter we got from our pair of main characters in Razorblade Tears, as it was a welcome and much needed comedic relief from the otherwise dark subject matter. Maybe giving Titus a sidekick would have helped.
Overall I still enjoyed the story, and should we meet Sheriff Titus Crowne again in a future book, I would certainly visit with him again.

S.A. Cosby addresses pertinent issues in society and never sugarcoats them. His books are raw, real and gritty. And they make you think.

Titus Crowne leaves his FBI position to move home to help care for his elderly father. He decides to run for Sheriff of Charon County, VA and becomes the first black Sheriff. He wants to make a difference, and he harbors some demons of his own.

One year to the day of him becoming Sheriff, a popular high school teacher is murdered by a young black man in the midst of a school shotting. The teacher is the only one killed and appears to have been the target. Police arrive and Titus thinks he has a handle on the situation, then things happen and a white officer shoots and kills the young black man.

As the investigation begins, Titus uncovers things he didn't know were happening in his tow. Dark secrets are revealed. And more people are murdered.

It's a tangled web as we are along with Titus as he tries to solve what is truly going down.

Another amazing book by Cosby, and fabulous narration by Adam Lazarre-White?

Many thanks to NetGalley and MacMIllan Audio for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I went into this novel with the expectations of loving it just based on the description, and I wasn't wrong. This novel has everything: grit, suspense, and non-stop action. If you enjoyed Razorblade Tears by this author, then you will love this book too.

Titus is the first black sheriff in history in Charon County. His elderly father lives with him, and his younger brother has seen his fair share of troubles. Titus wants to make a difference in the community and look out for his brothers and sisters that have been unfairly treated in the past. A school shooting in Charon County rocks the community to the core and Titus is determined to crack this case, even if it means facing some of his own traumas.

I loved the writing, character building and intense nature of the plot. There were times where the book was just unputdownable. The author uses impeccable description to help transport you to Charon County and make feel like you are part of the community. I loved the book from start to finish, and I highly recommend the audio version.

I received a physical copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway and an ALC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

S.A. Cosby just keeps getting better and better. This audiobook was great. The narrator was so good. The story was such a crazy ride and was so tense. There are all of the trigger warnings in this book but it is totally worth reading. Highly recommend.

Dear All the Sinners Bleed,
I have to start this by saying that I will always be a fan of S.A. Cosby. He writes with such depth about such difficult topics. Every time I read one of his books, my world expands. You were no exception to this. Titus has to walk such a fine line in his life, being a black man and being the sheriff in his small hometown. You brought his struggle into light so poignantly for me. You had so many difficult themes that pushed your story forward. I am almost at a loss of words. You were written lyrically, emotionally, I just fell in love with you. The talent that Cosby has to tell his stories fills me with awe.

If you’re looking for a disturbing, gritty and bleak thriller, you’ve come to the right … book. S.A. Cosby does it again with an engrossing tale of Southern noir in “All the Sinners Bleed”. Masterfully suspenseful and the exact opposite of a cozy mystery this book will draw you in and you won’t put it down until the last chapter ends.

While I’ve never considered this genre a favorite of mine, S.A. Cosby is an author whose books I will seek out over and over again. His writing style is exceptionally digestible and the way he tackles the very heavy topics he brings into his books is commendable.

This book will not be for everyone as it’s at times very gruesome and ticks off a plethora of trigger warnings, but I highly recommend it.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

SA Crosby is a phenomenal author. I’ve loved everything I’ve read by him. All The Sinners Bleed is no exception.

The story follows Titus, a black sheriff in a small southern town, as he investigates a school shooting and murder of a well loved teacher. While also dealing with a racist march set to take place during the towns Fall Fest. Through his investigation he finds that there might be a serial killer in his small town.

I really enjoyed Titus point of view. Although the chapters featuring a minor character POV kept it interesting as it added to the police investigation. There was so much tension. I felt like I was reading a criminal minds episode. I could easily picture in my head every scene in this book. It would make a great movie or limited series.

It deals with so many tough topics like school shootings, racism, and police violence. It’s as dark and violent as I’ve come to expect from Crosby. If you loved Razorblade Tears you’ll love All The Sinners Bleed too!

Thank you NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for this advanced read, All the Sinners Bleed by S.A. Cosby.

This book begins with a high school shooting and through the investigation of the killer, unravels to reveal secrets of the victim, a beloved teacher in Charon County. At the head of the investigations, is Titus Crowne, the county's first ever Black sheriff.
This is a heavy book, as S.A. Cosby's books are, that comes with a multitude of content and trigger warnings, including racism, murder, child pornography, molestation and sexual assault of minors, and body mutilation.
While I struggled at times with the content, I pushed through because S.A. Cosby's work is powerful, and he always writes a good story.
This one is not for everyone. But I am grateful for the opportunity I had to listen.

All Sinners Bleed is the latest crime thriller from S.A. Cosby, it follows the first black sheriff, Titus, in a small county in Virginia. It starts will with a school shooting and the sheriff quickly discovers that there is more than meets the eye when he discovers the shooter and victim of the school shooting is connected to series of brutal murders and the victims are black and brown children. In a town filled with racial and religious tensions , the sheriff must race to figure out who is behind the killings and keep the town from imploding. The novel was fast paced and kept me engaged the whole time, the twists were well done. The character development of the sheriff showed his struggles with being a black man and a cop and when they do not align. In addition to the mystery, Cosby commentary about race and the south is poignant and ties into the story well. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was engaging and conveyed the tensions of story.

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC of All Sinners Bleed.

If SA Cosby wrote the nutritional facts on the back of a cereal box, I would read it. I’m sure he could find some way to list off the dietary fiber content, and make it read like an award winning piece of literature. He can do no wrong. He doesn’t have it in him to not write with his whole heart and vision. Because of this, SA Cosby is an instant read for me and a forever favorite.
All The Sinners Bleed should be the first book of a series. This could be the next big series, one that gets a movie franchise. Titus Crowne is exactly the kind of character you want to read, over and over. He is a strong black character, who has heart and fortitude. He is exactly what we need right now, and he is fighting to get the right message out. I begging for a sequel to this book. Titus’s story isn’t done, I know it’s not.
Of course, I listened to this book on audio. I can’t help it, I have to. The narrator, Adam Lazzare- White, has the voice of a seasoned story teller. If he narrated every audiobook out there, I would never get bored. His voice is gritty, emotional, sexy and forceful. He makes SA Cosby’s books come to life. What he bring to Titus’s character is real and raw. I love print books, by SA Cosby is an audiobook god.
So many bodies, a whole lot of action, and completely character driven, this book is a nonstop thrill ride that also pulls on your heart strings. Finally Cosby is giving us what we all want, a dark serial killer thriller with the perfect character to hunt him down. The pace never lets up, the story never gets boring, and the ending leaves you wanting more. Perfect thriller.

Thank you @macmillan.audio @netgalley for a copy of this audiobook. Let me start by saying that this book is dark and gruesome. The book starts with a stand-off at an elementary school and a beloved teacher is shot to death. The current sheriff, Titus, is the first black sheriff and faced with the challenge of this crime plus the town's view on him.
The story is well told in Titus' perspective as relates to his relationship with his dad, girlfriend, brother and the small town. I love how the book discuss racism, religion besides the crime. This book was just a little too graphic and dark for my liking.
