Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I finished this book a week ago and I am still reeling. It has been a long while since I've read a Nora Roberts book, but wow, just wow. Nora Roberts is damn good writer.

I'd like to start off with the bad, because the bad is in the beginning and then I can gush about the rest of the book. So here's my issue- I don't see what the beginning of the book brings to the rest of the story. And I do mean the very beginning, as in the first two-three chapters. It was such a dramatic, shocking event that I felt like it was going to be this major thing in the character's life. Aside from one outburst towards the end of the book, it never really came up and it did not affect anything as far as I could tell. This was very annoying to me as I felt that there were a hundred different ways to cause upheaval in the characters life that would fit better. Okay, that is all.

On to the gushing. I absolutely fell in love with this story once our FMC Sonya moves to the Lost Bride Manor that is full of hauntings. Some good and some malevolent, the odd occurrences would be enough to send me screaming and running. However, Sonya is made of stronger stuff and harbors a deep desire to learn more about the lost brides and even her own family history.

While many of the scenes were sad, the dreams and visions of the past were also some of the most interesting, and seeing how they manifested in their next "life" as spirits was at times funny and other times thought-provoking. After all, one of the biggest questions of life is what happens after it ends? And if you couldn't past on, how would you handle it. This line of questioning isn't explored much in the novel, but it got me thinking.

Now we all know that Roberts is well known for her romances and this is no exception. As far as romances go this was a slow simmering romance, but it was sweet to watch unfold. Especially with multiple POVs so we got full access as these characters fell for each other.

The setting is atmospheric, and Roberts weaves a stunning vision of a gorgeous manor, seaside village, and details that made me feel as though I were there. The characters were great, even the adorable four-legged ones! A few side characters could've used a little more fleshing out. I'm hoping this will happen in the next book.

And there absolutely will be a next book. I am hanging over a really big cliff right now and I am not happy about it. Major jaw drop when I hit the end and realized that it'll be over a year before I know what happens next!

This book was so good! It is the first in a new trilogy. I just loved the characters, their chemistry was great. While a lot of the story is leading up to future books, it just leaves you wanting more. I can't wait to read the next addition in this series! I would highly recommend.

This is the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy and I am hooked! Sonya inherits a hunted house from a relative her family knew nothing about. A wicked woman haunts the house killing a bride every decade and taking their wedding rings. If Sonya can find the seven lost rings she can break the family curse. The hot lawyer Trey offers to help her and they can not help but get involved with each other. The book leaves off with a cliff hangar which just wants you to get the next in the series when it comes out. I received an ARC from NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my honest review.

If you can’t stand a cliffhanger, wait until the series is complete before reading. But don’t miss out on this. I have no idea what I’ll do while waiting for the next book. Perhaps dream of Sonya and Trey and The Manor. So much light to this story to balance out the dark and mysterious. And the ending!?! Ooh, I can’t wait to see what happens next!

This was not good. The beginning was interesting and it just got more and more boring. Can Roberts still spin a tale, yes. But this was just not it. It reminded me a lot of her "In the Garden" trilogy, mixed with a bit of "Inn Boonsboro" trilogy. I don't mind the magical realism she does, but I think the ending with the whole [redacted] just does not cause me to want to read more of this.

"Inheritance" starts off with 28 year old Sonya MacTavish thinking about how in a few short weeks she is going to be getting married. I don't want to do spoilers in this review. But things occur and then Sonya finds out that she inherited a mansion in Maine from her late father's twin brother (that he never knew he had). There's a lot of convoluted explanation about this, but just go with it. Sonya decides to make a fresh start in Maine at the mansion and finds out that it comes with a history and several ghosts.

The writing was okay, but after a while I just did not care about the plot. We keep getting thrust back into past timelines with a "bride" and how she's killed by someone/something. The first book is just Sonya and her best friend Cleo trying to figure out how the brides died and why. And then some very lukewarm romantic interests that pop in the story.

The flow was just pretty awful. After a while it just felt painful. I wish that Roberts had a left a few "brides" story on the cutting room floor. Also I just did not buy the romance between Sony and [redacted]. There was no heat there at all. I just felt like after a while I was reading a very boring romantic mystery/thriller/etc. that wasn't giving me enough romance.

The first book ends on a cliffhanger. If you get aggravated by reading cliffhangers. I say just borrow this from a library and or wait until book two comes out so that you can read them back to back maybe.

Oh my goodness!! How am I going to wait until next year to find out what happens next? This was an awesome story that builds and builds as the story progresses. Sonya MacTavish finds out that her father had a twin brother no one knew about and she is left his estate, a haunted mansion in Maine. 7 generations of brides in the Poole family have died on their wedding night or within the first year of marriage. All of their wedding rings were taken and Sonya needs to find them to break the curse that revolves around the manor. I absolutely CANNOT wait to read the next book!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This review is based on an ARC from NetGalley, courtesy of the publisher.

I love a Nora Roberts trilogy, and the guest book of this one sucked me in immediately! Sonya and Cleo are such strong female characters - and so are several of the lost brides. :) And Trey...I love him. I wish I could see the beautiful manor, but I feel like I can from the descriptions. I wasn't ready for this one to end, and can't wait to read the next one to find out what happens next with this group of great characters!

I hate to say it but I have to. This is the third recent Nora Roberts release that’s just too long.

It’s like this. I’ve read almost everything this woman has written in the last three years and loved most of it. Because her books were cute and short and hit the spot.

But now it just feels like they’re being released before few more rounds of editing. So many scenes are just so similar. And the romance? The main character just become old married couples way too quickly.

And now that I know that this trilogy is not a book a couple, I’m curious to see how it will unfold

Inheritance is the first book in the Lost Bride Trilogy and yes you'll end on a cliffhanger so be prepared. Even though the story is not complete I still feel satisfied by the way the author ended and felt the book was well rounded. This is trilogy has that classic Nora Roberts feel, kind of reminds me of the Guardians trilogy or the Donovan Legacy, a little magic, wonder, friendships, family and romance. You get pulled into the story from page one and feel sad when you hit that final page. The characters have a likeable, fun quality, each different in their own way and the author does a wonderful job describing them you can't help but feel like you know them. I can't wait for book two.

I’ve gone back and forth on how to rate this book. It’s the first book in a trilogy, so naturally there should be some amount of cliffhanger at the end, but this was more like ALL cliffhanger, with no resolution to speak of- which meant what had been a great story up until that point just felt completely unfinished. And now I have to wait an indeterminate amount of time to continue reading.

That said, I did love these well-drawn characters - especially Sonya and Cleo. Their friendship is the real star of the show here. I’m also curious where the ghostly mystery element to the story shall take us. I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned….

A nice start to a trilogy that sees Sonya's life turned upside-down at the start. Her fiance cheated on her and then she discovers that not only was her family larger than she knew, she's inherited a mansion. A haunted mansion. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This blends romance, the paranormal, and mystery into a highly readable book that will satisfy fans of Roberts.

I absolutely love Nora Robert’s books. I couldn’t put down her book “Inheritance”, Book number one of her Lost Bride Trilogy, a haunted manor in coastal Maine with Seven dead Brides. I don’t believe I have ever read a book that ended with a cliff-hanger. I am definitely interested in reading Book Two!

Inheritance is a wildly heart pounding paranormal suspense that left me breathless from the first sight of Lost Bride Manor. There aren’t enough words to say how absolutely stunning this book is.

The characters are so well developed you feel like you’re a part of the group, included in their confidences, sharing their dreams, and fears.

Sonya inherited the manor house from a long lost uncle. She has no idea what she’s getting into when she agrees to the terms of the will and moves in. She soon discovers there’s much more than meets the eye. She may just be sharing her space with several friendly ghosts as well as one malevolent spirit.

With the help of Cleo her best friend, Trey her new love interest, and her cousin Owen she sets out to discover the whereabouts of seven rings and break the family curse they’re connected to.

There are so many depths to this story, layer upon layer. There is no resolution at the end but it’s left up to the reader’s imagination, at least until book two. Excellent book.

I received an early copy from St. Martin’s Press. This is my honest opinion of the book.

Inheritance has the signature Nora Roberts touch with an extra helping of magic, a heroine searching for answers, and a love interest that is a slow burn with a strong payoff. Sonya finds herself the recipient of an inheritance from an uncle she never knew who was the twin of her father, an added unknown. When the Victorian mansion that comes with money ends up haunted and the demise of not one but seven brides on their wedding day, Son is determined to find out what or who’s behind the murders. She has help from her best friend Cleo and other relatives she meets when she moves to the mansion. A good read that frustrated me BECAUSE it ends on a cliffhanger. Darn…how long before the next installment and (spoiler alert!) I learn what happens to Sonya and her cousin Owen when they step through the mirror?

I found the initial chapters more like backstory unless the fiancé who cheats on Sonya three weeks before their wedding shows up again in some capacity. Of course, his cheating ends the engagement, forces her from a job she loves, and serves as the catalyst for the succeeding action. Still, I wonder if it couldn’t have been woven in rather than enacted scene by scene. No doubt about it. Roberts is a master of her craft and keeps readers pining for the next installment!

This is another wonderful Nora Roberts book with fantasy elements. It is the first book in a trilogy that involves a haunted manor that belonged to an unknown twin brother of Sonya’s father. After a series of unfortunate events, Sonya is ready for a change when she learns that she has inherited the manor along the coast in Maine. She fell in love with the Victorian manor on first site and quickly made some new friends in the cute little town. The story really draws you in and then leaves you sad that you have to wait so long for the next book.

Nora Roberts' latest trilogy is a good old fashioned ghost story. Whenever the spirits living in FMC Sonya's new home make their presence known - some benevolently, some maliciously - the novel sparkles. But the other subplots are dullsville.

Okay, Sonya does catch her fiancé screwing one of her bridesmaids only weeks before the wedding, but she recovers quickly and the rest of her life is perfect. She has a loyal BFF, a supportive mom, and surprise! an uncle she never knew dies and bequeaths her a huge mansion in coastal Maine. Everyone she meets in her new hometown is friendly and welcoming, including the MMC, who represents the third generation of attorneys who worked with her uncle. Their romance proceeds gently and uneventfully; of course the guy is handsome, supportive, brave and thoughtful. Way too much time is spent describing Sonya's graphic design work, BFF Cleo's artwork, her new home's architecture and its interior design. As an example, here's the scintillating conversation the first time the MMC's buddy tours the house:

"Cherrywood, pristine. The wood's a little thirsty. This and the mermaid [statue] need a good buff with paste wax. Don't be using any supermarket spray shit on these pieces. Any of them. You can do the lemon oil, orange oil between, but once, maybe twice a year, you buff with a good paste wax."

Be still, my beating heart! Compare that to Roberts' Year One, where a mysterious plague starts killing off millions of people in the first chapter...I know, not all books need to have the same tempo, but I shouldn't want to skim multiple paragraphs to get to the good stuff.

The final chapters and abrupt cliffhanger ending do ramp up the paranormal eeriness. Maybe the slow start was necessary to set the scene for action-packed books 2 and 3. Hopefully, Roberts can sprinkle her magic storytelling dust and rescue this series from its sluggish beginning.

Nora Roberts plunges her readers into a gothic-style romance with a modern edge from page one. We willingly follow Sonya, a graphic designer and web designer who recently suffered a failed romance, into her surprise inheritance and destiny: a haunted house with multi-layered secrets. Also, a BIG bad—a ghost with a significant axe to grind against the family she never knew existed.

You have to love a woman who faces her fears with her best friend by her side, the love of a man who respects and admires her, and beloved dogs that Nora weaves into the tale with humor and heart. I, for one, am not surprised that Roberts' social media has taken a leap in advance of the title, whose heroine is a social media expert. <3 I fully expect Sonya is running things.

Fans of Nora Roberts will not be disappointed with this blend of romance and suspense, with a dash of "ghost story" horror.

I cannot stop thinking about this book. Initially I gave it a four because I have some questions about the way this book is structured because it doesn't really seem to contain a full romantic ARC, so are we having a trilogy where there will be two romances that carry us the whole way through? Or was I meant to be satisfied with where we left this romantic relationship and it will be the side story of the next book? Questions like this aren't necessary for me to have the answers to, but in the initial aftermath, it did affect my rating. And then days and weeks passed and I realized that I've thought about this book basically every single day. All the time. So clearly this book is a five star.

When Nora Roberts wants you to feel the atmosphere of a place, she will absolutely make sure that you do. At first, this book starts out in Boston with Sonya finding out that her fiancé is cheating on her with her cousin. Disrespectful, that one. Anyway, she kicks him out and keeps trucking along at work, despite the fact that they work for the same company, until one day she finds out that she has inherited a house in Maine. A mansion, more specifically. Eventually, turns out the house is haunted. And from there, things just really take off. Roberts builds out a cast of characters that has me so utterly captivated and really, just, didn't ever want to stop listening. This audiobook is really well done, btw. Especially because the beginning is a little slow. But did it stop me from loving it desperately? Nope. And now I need book two. Like immediately.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to preview this novel! This is a classic Nora Roberts novel and I absolutely loved it! I can't wait to see the rest of this series! As always, Nora sucks you in and doesn't let go! This reminded me of some of Nora's earlier bride series, but will definitely capture peoples hearts like her other novels!

DNF. I really liked the premise but the writing did not work for me at all. It wouldn't be fair to the book if I finished reading and gave it a low rating. I've loved Nora's other books (Bride Quartet, Three Sisters Island) but the spark isn't there anymore.
