Wow. Just finished reading INHERITANCE, the first book in NORA ROBERTS new paranormal romance LOST BRIDE TRILOGY. Completely sucked in from the first chapter.

Graphic designer Sonya MacTavish goes through a difficult year personally and professionally when she unexpectedly inherits a gorgeous but spooky manor house on the coast of Maine from an uncle, Collin Poole. A twin, she and her deceased father never new existed. The catch is she must live in it for three years to get the house and all the other wealth with it. With the support of her best friend, Cleo, and her mother she decides to work her freelance jobs and connect with the family she never knew existed.

Upon arriving at Lost Bride Manor and the town of Poole’s Bay, she meets Trey Doyle, whose family law firm handles the estate and family is intertwined with the Pooles. She falls for the house and the town as she make connections with the locals and learns about the tragic history of the manor. A Poole bride dies young each generation beginning with Astrid Poole who is stabbed to death on her wedding day in 1806. As Sonya experiences strange events in the house, she realizes she inherited a house that is haunted with good and bad ghosts, a curse, and a riddle to solve. As with all Nora Roberts stories, the characters are fabulously crafted as people you want to hang out with and become life long friends. Since Roberts paranormal trilogies usually involve six people who work together early but pair up as the series progresses, I was surprised that I only saw a match of Sonya and Trey, a solid indication of the second pair, but no idea of the who the third couple will be in the story. I got in trouble for reading through the night because I couldn’t put the book down even with the scary parts.

The only bad part is that it ends with a cliffhanger and, if the author follows her pattern, the second book won’t be released until late 2024 with the third book a year behind it in November 2025. I don’t know how I can wait! Thanks to Net Gallery and St. Martin’s Publishing Group for the exquisite torture.

WOW at his does not disappoint. This has a bit of everything from 200 years ago bringing the Poole family saga and mystery forward.
Can Sonya McTavish shed any light on the family secrets that’s lurk in the old she just inherited that she must live in to claim. Why were her father and twin brother separated at birth, lived two separate lives yet seem so connected?
The house although maintained and update still has a creepy feel to it making Sonya second guess herself.
Really an excellent beginning to this The Lost Bride trilogy.

Thank you #NetGally #Inheritance #LostBride

I enjoyed this book. It is the first one in the Lost Bride Trilogy. It is a paranormal story with a little bit of romance. Sonya inherits a house from an Uncle she never knew. Sonya starts to unravel the secrets of the house and meets a few of the ghosts of the house. I wasn’t to happy about the cliffhanger, I wish there was a teaser chapter. Though kudos Nora Roberts, I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.

Of all places to end - what a cliffhanger! Nora Roberts books got me through college when the other books I was reading for my English Lit classes were so, so dry, so it was an honor to get an ARC of her latest.

I love Nora Robert's trilogies. The only problem is you read the first one and you have to wait. THE INHERITANCE is the first in The Lost Brides series. I don't know how she does it but Nora Roberts keeps coming up with new storylines. This is the story of a graphic designer who inherited the family house from her uncle that she did not know. Along with the house are some resident ghosts, some friendly, one not so much. Great characters and great setup for the series. This was a fabulous book. I highly recommend this book. You will want to race through it but try to take your time and savor it.

This was such a good story! I really had a hard time putting down. I thought the characters were charming and fun especially some of the non-living ones. The ending hit me like a brick wall and now I am dying to read book 2.

I should’ve read that this was a trilogy because it ends in a TOTAL cliffhanger that I was not prepared for! I liked the book. It kept my attention. It was difficult to keep up with at times especially with all the different family names. But I will read the next one to see what happens
Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy!

Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Contemporary Romance; Paranormal fantasy
Setting: Maine, Massachusetts
Format: 📖
Release Date: November 21, 2023
Length: 448 pages

In 1806 Astrid Grandville becomes the wife and bride to Collin Poole but she will never live to see her wedding night.

“You will never have him,” she says. “Die a bride, and know he’ll come to me. He will come to me, or by your blood on my tongue, bride after bride will join you in death.”

Thus begins Hester Dobbs revenge against seven brides and seven stolen wedding rings.

Graphic design, Sonya McTavish is about to start a new graphic design business, but she is also about to start a journey of family discoveries when she learns that her now deceased dad had a twin brother and that this uncle has recently passed away. Uncle Collin has left just about everything to Sonya .. this everything included one lavish and imposing Victorian house on the coast of Maine. But this inheritance comes with stipulations; Sonya must agree to live there for three years.

Trey Doyle is the charismatic lawyer that is about to introduce Sonya to her new home on the cliff of Maine and that this manor just might be a tad haunted. As time goes by odd things occur –lights suddenly go out, things are moved, housekeeping is done, music is played in the middle of the night, doors are opened and slammed .. realization hits that Sonya has inherited more than expected, she has inherited a home that has been cursed with the ghost of seven murdered brides and one witch .. a mystery that needs to be resolved. Sonya, best friend Cleo, Trey, and Owen are all thrown into the middle of this decade old mystery of murder and mayhem.

I always enjoy Nora Robert’s trilogy novels and Inheritance is a great beginning of a new paranormal and contemporary romance suspense series. It is a story of family tragedy, of lost love and family, love rediscovered, and the determination of young woman to succeed. My biggest complaint .. I now have to wait some undetermined time for the next book in the series since we are left with a major cliffhanger at the end of this novel. It gets a solid four stars.

Thank you, Nora Roberts, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. This novel is due to be released on November 21, 2023.

Inheritance is the first in gothic family drama/paranormal romance trilogy where an unexpected inheritance leads to uncovering family and all the ghosts of the past. Sonya MacTavish is recovering from a broken engagement and harassment that has caused her to leave her job and start her own company. A talented graphic designer, Sonya is just making her ends meet when a lawyer shows up with the will of an unknown uncle and the keys to a historical manor. The terms of the will are clear if she stays long enough then the house is hers and enough money for upkeep. So begins Sonya’s love story with her family’s manor and the ghosts within as she battles a great evil to break a centuries old curse. Sprinkle in a little steamy romance with the estate’s lawyers son and you have a page turning thrill ride where ghosts tug the heart strings and evil refuses to take a backseat. As book one in a trilogy, this story remains unresolved and continues into the next book. The characters are charming and the story is compelling and just spooky enough to keep you ready past your bedtime for another addictive series from America’s Queen of Romance. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.

I was given an opportunity to read an ARC of Nora Robert's latest trilogy book titled Inheritance. Thank you, St. Martins Publishing House and Net Galley for this wonderous read. Nora Roberts never ceases to amaze me with her ways to draw me in, feel as if I am part of the story.
What would you do if you suddenly find out that you had family that you never knew existed in your world, not only family, but an uncle, your father's identical twin brother? Then add in a mix of an inheritance on a grand scale. With this inheritance, Sonya finds out that there is more to this house than furniture, pictures that hand=g on the wall, walls, and glamour.
Inheritance by Nora Roberts charmed, hooked me as the story continued on. I cannot wait to read the next books in this series. Once again, thank you St. Martin's Publishing House and Net Galley for this ARC.

I love this author and everything she writes. This is a perfect story, with a witch, ghosts, a family curse, a slow burn romance, a gothic mansion and a thrilling mystery! Loved the characters! Sonya had just cancelled her wedding having found out her future husband was cheating on her. Sonya discovered her father, who has passed, was a twin and her uncle has left her an inheritance. But she has to live in the mansion for three years. Now her adventure begins. I love her best friend Cleo, who is so supportive.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts, the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy, is a captivating blend of gothic mystery, paranormal romance, and historical suspense. The story begins with the tragic murder of bride-to-be Astrid Poole in 1806, setting the stage for a centuries-old curse that haunts her family. Fast forward to the present, where graphic designer Sonya McTavish, reeling from a broken engagement, inherits a majestic Victorian mansion in Maine from her previously unknown uncle, Collin Poole. With the support of her best friend Cleo and enigmatic lawyer Trey, Sonya explores the haunted house and unravels its secrets. While the characters are well-crafted, the romance feels somewhat abrupt, and the book concludes with a frustrating cliffhanger. Despite these minor drawbacks, Inheritance promises an enticing trilogy that combines a haunting atmosphere with a tantalizing mystery.

I'm a huge Nora Roberts fan so I was really looking forward to reading this book, the start of a new trilogy, and I wasn't disappointed! The book draws you in immediately and keeps your interest until the last page. Sonya calls off her wedding at the last minute due to finding her fiance in bed with her cousin (awkward!), and after trying to continue at her job, where said ex-fiance also works, she leaves and starts her own business. When an attorney shows up at her door one day to inform her that not only did her father, who was adopted, have a twin brother no one knew about, but he had left her a manor house in his will, she's ready for a change and a challenge. The only caveat is that she has to live in the manor for 3 years to collect her full inheritance. She's given a 3 month grace period to decide if she wants to stay or not, but as soon as she sees the house, she knows she will stay. It just feels like home to her. The only problem? It's haunted. And there's a curse. Luckily, she gets some help dealing with this from her best friend, her cousin, and a very handsome young lawyer in town.

This was a very well thought out and well written book, with lots of great characters, ambience, and a curse. What more do you need?

In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the trilogy.

5/5 stars. Highly recommend.

*** I would like to thank NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Nora Roberts for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Thank you to St.Martins press for giving me an arc of this novel. I’m typically a huge Nora roberts fan and was beyond excited to receive this arc. Thank you.
This book was an interesting read, and I mean that in a good and bad way. So the book starts off with a bang and draws you in. The concept is also really good, but not strongly executed as well as I expected from Nora roberts. Parts of this book just felt way way too perfect. Like how acceptable Sonya and her mom were of her inheritance of a haunted manor house. The romance between Sonya and the lawyer felt way too forced in my opinion. The paranormal aspects of this novel were well done and I enjoyed them to a t. Her friend Cleo was a nice addition to the book. Sonya herself feels kind of unbelievable as a character. For a practical person she is far too fine with a haunted house. Everyone seems to just love and adore her from the second they meet her. Just feels like she gets things too easily. Oh yeah and it feels strange when jokes are made about how she thinks her cousin is sexy. That’s weird. There are multiple jokes about him made by her or him and her made by others that make it seem like the author forgot the two of them are cousins not friends.
I very much enjoyed some of the ghost companions that occupy the manor house. So here’s how I feel about the over all book and how it was executed. If you think of suspension of disbelief in a dollar amount this book had a $3 dollar budget and instead asked the reader for $8 dollars worth of suspension of disbelief with how the plot points were executed. I feel that the book needs more revision before publishing this novel.

I was hooked to the story at the beginning. It starts off with a bang. This story goes between the past and the present. In the beginning we meet one of the brides and her tragic end. Then we go to the present where we meet Sonja and oh boy. Nora Roberts sure knows how to hook her readers. This is my first book by her.

I really enjoyed the paranormal aspects of this book. I did feel like there were some plot holes in the story though. If you’re a fan of slow burns and paranormal you might enjoy this book! It has some sweet dogs in it which I enjoyed as well. I felt like the romance parts were a little unbelievable though and kind of weird at some parts, but overall I enjoyed the story.

UM WOW. A lot of firsts for me in this book- my first paranormal book, and my first book from Nora Roberts. It was amazing! I couldn’t put it down, I am excited to see this story continue, even when it was left with such a cliffhanger but sad I have to wait!

This was a classic Nora Roberts novel. It felt like a warm hug. I loved the story and the female friendship, the charming ghosts, even the spooky ghosts. I adored how she described the mansion and how much there was to discover, plus the dogs! Oh the dogs! ❤️

Before even going into it, I knew I would not be disappointed. The name Nora Roberts has become synonymous with great books for most readers. This was no different. I appreciate that this was not about a shrinking violet but a strong female protagonist. The characters are three-dimensional and memorable. The ending was startlingly abrupt, so take that as you will, but it is going to be a series.
