Inheritance is Book 1 in The Lost Brides Trilogy. Nora Robert’s creates an amazing book as always.
After cancelling her wedding , Sonya learns she has inherited a house from an uncle that she didn’t even know existed. Deciding change is good she moves to see how she likes it. With the help of new relatives and her mom and best friend she learns to live with the spirits in the house and to embrace some of them .
This is a story of new beginnings and learning about a past that you had no clue about. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a copy for my honest opinion.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to read/review this book after given an advanced readers copy; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a perfect book to read at the start of September. It gives me just enough spooky/gothic vibes to feel in the fall mood. Pack up all your stuff and move into an old, absolutely haunted, home of a passed loved one if you want your inheritance- sounds great, what could go wrong? I really enjoyed this book, though it’s a trilogy, it felt very well thought out, it didn’t feel rushed in my opinion like a perfect build up for the remaining books, and by the end of this book, it had me itching to be able to read the second one.

I want to start off with a disclaimer that I've read 98% of Nora Roberts' books.

That being said, while this book is quintessentially Nora, it follows her recent trend of trilogy being one arching story instead of a plot split into three couples. I don't particularly mind that though I'm hating the cliffhanger endings.

Anyways, I LOVE the gothic ghosts haunting the house but how each ghost has their own distinct personalities. I also love how it's not just the brides but any lives lost in the house.

I didn't like how long it took Sonya (the heroine) to come to grips with the fact the ghosts were there but everyone is not as open to the possibilities so it makes sense.

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing her get to know the rest of the family and free everyone from the curse.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

Thank you St Martin’s Press and Netgalley for an ARC of Inheritance by Nora Roberts in exchange for my honest opinion.

Nora Roberts has been a favorite of mine as long as I have been an avid reader. Her trilogies are magical and amazing.

Inheritance is book one in her newest trilogy. Sonya inherits a manor from an uncle that she didn’t know existed. The only stipulation is that she live in it for 3 months. Her life has just taken a drastic turn in her love life and career, so it seems like the perfect time to take some risks and make some changes. Though nothing can prepare her for what she about to experience in the manor. A battle of good and evil spirits.

I really hope Nora Roberts doesn’t keep us waiting too long for book 2!

I received a free advance copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I love Nora Roberts' trilogy sets and can already tell this one is no exception. One of the main differences between this and others is that the HEA doesn't seem to be wrapped up in one book for each set of characters. Sonya and Trey were cute. I liked how it doesn't seem like an Insta-love novel and how they have room to grow within each other. I also love their best friends and can totally see one of the books being about them. I can't wait to read all of these and will be buying them.

I read Nora Roberts trilogy Chronicles of the One and loved every bit of it. With a publisher's blurb that mentions ghosts and dead brides, I was sure this would be something I would enjoy.

I did enjoy it, but with several caveats; this is NOTHING like the Chronicles of the One trilogy, which was heavy on mystical/magic powers and light on syrupy romance. Inheritance is an entertaining read, with likeable characters and an interesting storyline about a spurned witch who takes revenge on all future descendant's brides of the Poole family. Our heroine, Sonya, inherits her long-lost Uncles grand manor, which just happens to be filled with the murdered brides' ghosts, and a few other random dead people thrown in for good measure. The evil witch tries to get her to leave, throws a few mild scares into the mix, but Sonya is determined to stick it out, stay in the manor, and find a way to get rid of the witch once and for all.

There are a lot of slow passages that go on and on about the manor, its many rooms, its many antique furnishings, it's gorgeous views of both the sea and the forest, its many rooms and antique furnishings (again). She gets a dog for companionship, and the poor thing must have bladder problems because every paragraph afterward has her taking the dog out to pee. Then her BFF moves in and they start moving furniture from room to room. Daily. Whenever the hunky lawyer, who is helping Sonya out, stops by he is roped into moving furniture. He makes a nice love interest, though.

Finally, knowing full well this was a trilogy, and totally ok with that, I was still shocked at the abrupt ending. Things were moving along, discoveries are being deduced, and BAM. The end. Really? Not even a little bit of closure on some minor issues?

I will most likely watch for the next installment, but this was definitely not a favorite, just a mildly scary, tamely romantic way to pass an afternoon.

How could I give anything but five stars to a Nora Roberts book. Magical, ghostly, and modern, where a house (and its ghostly inhabitants) is as much a character in the book as the requisite couples, charming town, dogs, and art. Fresh and current with a nod to the past, this first book in a trilogy ticks all he boxes for me.

Nora Roberts will always be my guilty pleasure reading. Thrilled to have had a shot at this new offering.

I have been reading Nora Roberts books for the past 25-30 years it feels like. And each one is phenomenal. I was very excited to see the first book in a new series on NetGalley and even happier to have been approved to read and review.
There is nothing bad I can say about this book. I loved it from the first word to the last. The writing and story were perfect. I just sat back and enjoyed the journey this author took us on. Please pick up this book!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by NetGalley.

The first book in a trilogy, Inheritance definitely left me wishing for the next installment! The story has a nice combination of suspense and romance with a strong female protagonist. My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for a digital ARC!

Thanks to Nora Roberts and St Martin's Press for letting me read this ARC!

This novel opens with Sonya MacTavish life falling apart, her fiancé cheating on her and ultimately having to leave her career behind. Sonya opens her door to a man telling her that she is inheriting Lost Bride Manor in Maine as long as she remains there for three years. She finds out that it is haunted with brides dying on their wedding day or within a year, and she is on a hunt to find the seven rings. It is the perfect amount of spooky mixed with mystery and romance. I knew that this was going to be a trilogy (in case you wait until all books are published), so be warned that this ends on a massive cliffhanger!

Warning, I missed that it is part of a trilogy and can't wait for the next installment. It's a fascinating story about Sonya MacTavish and her journey of a new life, in a new town, with a new job, new friends, and a living arrangement in an inherited manor with some ghosts and a curse. As the trilogy suggests it's about lost brides. Nora Roberts never disappoints, but when Inheritance ended on a cliffhanger it was sad.
Thanks to NetGalley for my review copy of this book, I know what some people are getting for Christmas this year!

Another amazing read by Nora, no Suprise there. This is a book I will most definitely be buying a physical copy the second it comes out. Twisty plot, creative, magic and a haunted mansion with multiple ghosts! Highly recommend! Cannot wait for the next one in this series!

Inheritance is a book about long lost family and a possible haunted house.
Sonya is going through some major life changes when she finds out her father had a long lost twin, and she’s the one who not only inherited all his assets, but also a family curse.
This was reminiscent of some of Nora’s older trilogies, and I am in love. The only down side is having to wait for the next installment. 100% recommend this book.

This is an exciting new novel in Nora Roberts' newest trilogy "The Lost Brides" and takes place in a manor in Maine.

Overall I enjoyed the story but it definitely felt very Nora Roberts-y in that the heroine is very familiar (reminded me a lot of Eve Dallas) and the story beats are somewhat familiar. Where it deviated though is that it doesn't feel like this first novel followed the usual trilogy novel with wrapping up the book 1 heroine's story in book 1 in a pretty bow before moving onto the next MC for book 2. So I'm curious to see where this goes in the next book!

If you like Nora Roberts you will enjoy this story I think. I really was interested despite it being somewhat familiar.

Do not pick this book up if you dislike unfinished business at the end of a book.

This book!!! Oh my gosh, I don’t know where to start. It is about Sonya MacTavish and her journey of a new life, in a new town, with a new job, new friends, and a living arrangement in an inherited manor with some ghosts and a curse….I loved this book so much, I found myself picking it up to read every chance I got. It is captivating and really sucks you in and makes you feel like you are there. I cannot wait until the next two books come out. I need to know what happens next!

Graphic Designer, Sonya MacTavish, comes home early to find her fiancée sleeping with her cousin. Despite trying to remain civil the outcome results in a situation less than ideal at work and home. Things seem pretty bleak until Sonya is contacted about a lost relative, her fathers twin brother, who has left her everything in his will. Sonja leaves her life behind and moves to her new Victorian home on the coast of Maine to start up her own business. Sonya soon discovers that her new dream home has a few skeletons in its closets as well as ghosts and a centuries-old curse.

I started reading Nora Roberts a few years ago and enjoyed the magical elements she incorporates into her work. When I saw the plot synopsis for Inheritance it seemed like a perfect fit. I really wanted to love this novel but sadly I just didn’t. I’m quickly realizing that many of her novels seem to follow a similar outline (tragedy, mysterious relative/inheritance, romance) which isn’t a bad thing but i wanted something fresh. I didn’t care for any of the characters in this novel…especially Sonya, a lot of the chapters felt like reading a how to manual as everything (i.e. web design ideas) felt like it was being described in way too much detail. Honestly…I was a bit bored with this one. What I did like was the back stories of the lost brides which I wish would have been more heavily incorporated into the story. I don’t think I will be continuing this series but that doesn’t mean that other readers won’t enjoy it.

Nora Roberts does it again with a Paranormal Romance that will have you hooked from the first page.

Sonya inherits a home from her long-lost uncle along with a century-long mystery and household guests haunting the halls until the curse is broken. Cleo, her best friend, and lover of all things supernatural moves in to support Sonya in her search for answers to her family history.

The romance story for Sonya and Trey was a little underdeveloped, they danced around the attraction and then just fell into it. This could be something that gets explored more in the rest of the trilogy we will have to wait and see. Trey, however, is All the Golden Retriever energy your little heart could want!

As always Roberts leaves us with a CliffHanger that feels Jarring and has you looking up the publication date for the next book.

This book made me wish I had a secret uncle who would leave me a big beautiful mansion that is haunted!! I loved the vibes in this book, the small town feel and couldn’t put it down!

This was a really fantastic beginning to a wonderfully spooky romance. A perfect October read if you ask me!!

I've read some of the author's other trilogies in the past, her spooky, witchy, and ghostly ones, but I wasn't sure what to expect, since the author changed the way her trilogies are structured.

Inheritance is the beginning of a trilogy that is one continuous story, at least that's how it looks to me. And I must say it works!! The author gives the romantic relationships time to develop, the overall story to unfold in a timeframe that makes sense, since the backstory covers centuries.

The story grabbed me from the very beginning. Not just because it featured a beautiful old mansion with some very interesting inhabitants, but also because of the just wonderfully likeable characters. And the way friendships are being put in the foreground and celebrated.

Loved the camaraderie, the support, and most of all the group dynamic in this book.

The story has all the signature style and feel good moments I'm used to get from this author. The group getting together to work on problems, brainstorming, enjoying a dinner together and working on projects. It's so relatable. And also a joy to see this group of amazing characters enjoying each others company.

The sequel is going to go to the top of my 2024 reading list - can't wait for its release!

REVIEW: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily writing an honest review.

Inheritance is the story of a young woman named Sonya MacTavish who inherits a haunted estate in Maine from family she didn’t even know she had. When she moves into the house, she discovers that she is far from being alone…

I enjoyed this book, for the most part. I loved the ghost story aspect of it – that was great and had me engaged and wanting more.

I did get a little bored with the emphasis on the dogs and her work – I just wanted to get back to the cool ghost story stuff, not read about the multiple times she takes her dog out each day. XD

I also felt that the ‘romance’ wasn’t as strong as it could have been – I hope that will be better explored in the next books.

Just a warning, this book does end on a cliffhanger with no resolution to…well, basically any of the plots. Frustrating!

Despite the above, I did enjoy this book and would recommend it to fans of slow-burn ghost stories and fans of Nora Roberts.
