The newest trilogy from Nora Roberts is a gothic-infused ghostly thriller. Set in the upper regions of Maine, a young lady discovers a whole nother family when an unknown uncle leaves her his mansion upon his death. When she moves into her new home, she discovers she is not the only occupant. She soon learns that most of the ghostly inhabitants need her to help them break a decades-long curse.
Witty, fast-paced, and brimming with ghostly thrills and chills, The Inheritance will appeal to fans of La Noras' more paranormal offerings. A burgeoning romance and a plethora of interesting characters help to balance and direct the various subplots. My only qualm is there is a cliffhanger that left me less than pleased knowing I would have to wait a year for book 2.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I have been reading Nora Roberts for years and I know when I pick up a book of hers it will draw me in and keep a tight hold until the end. Inheritance did not disappoint. I loved the concept, the characters, and the setting. I could picture it perfectly. The DJ/music was a unique aspect that usually had me giggling. With the way this ended, I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

Believe it or not, I must be the last person in America to have read a book by Nora Roberts. 'Inheritance' in her Lost Bride Trilogy is my first. Although it seemed slow to begin with I was subsequently engrossed and wanting to know the outcome. I was more than surprised at the cliffhanger ending, not entirely in a good way. The story is spectacular and gripping, but I didn't grasp that it was a trilogy until I got to the end of the book. Now I have years to wait for resolution and I'm not sure how I feel about that production technique.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Page turning!!
Inheritance is the first book in the Lost Bride Trilogy. This is going to be an amazing Trilogy.
This book, Inheritance, is about a young woman named Sonya MacTavish, that is Betrayed by her soon to be husband Brandon.
Sonya's life is going to take a turn when she finds out her father was a twin that had been adopted. Her uncle, Collin Poole passed away. Sonya has inherited a haunted manor in Maine. In order to keep the manor, Sonya must live in the manor for three years.
The manor is exceptional but very haunted. Sonya decides to take up residence and move to Maine.
The book is so interesting with history, love, death and a demon that it is very difficult to put down. I am waiting for the second book to continue the saga of the Poole Manor.

I’ll start by saying this was a very engaging story and I really enjoyed reading it. The characters were interesting, likable and believable. The descriptions of the town, manor house, and coastline were well done and I could feel myself watching for whales on a cool spring day with a cup of tea in hand and my dog running around wanting his ball to be thrown for him.
However, this isn’t the type of story I generally read and if the description has included the supernatural aspect I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have read this book. Having said that, it was well done and didn’t feel too “woo-woo” made up. I was intrigued by the mystery of what was going on, what story was being told piece by piece and wanted to keep reading to find out how Sonya, Cleo and the rest resolved the centuries old mysteries. But the last paragraph left me feeling like I’d been punched in the gut. Obviously the story is to be continued in the next volume but was it necessary to leave it on such a precipice, lol. I literally felt like I was dangling off a cliff. From an authors stand point this is a good place to leave readers, as they will be anxiously awaiting the chance to purchase the next book. But for me it still left a physical punch. Kudos and curses for this true cliffhanger.

It's Nora Roberts! She always hits a home run with me. I am so grateful for the chance to read this book and I look forward to following this series. Well done Nora!

This was an amazing book and I can’t wait for the second book in the series! Sonya inherits a mansion from an include she didn’t know she had. Along with the beautiful mansion comes ghosts and a curse that she needs to attempt to break. This book does end on a cliffhanger, but it is well worth it!

This was unexpected, in a good way, from the typical trilogy formula that I've come to expect from Nora Roberts.
I am always a fan of her fantasy or paranormal-leaning romances, so I came fully expecting it to be the first in a trilogy following one of the couples.
But, imagine my surprise at the huge cliffhanger at the end of the book. And the fact that Sonya and Trey's story, the protagonist and her love interest, isn't tied up in a perfect knot by the ending. It's certainly a change-up and, while I will hate waiting for the next one to come out, it was a pleasant surprise.
I really enjoyed the charming and detailed description of the gothic manor and all of its ghostly inhabitants as well as Sonya's experience trying to come to grips with inheriting it. I did feel as though the town, and the romance, were on the edge of the story. I don't feel as much of a loss with the town, as we were given a few hints here and there, but the romance didn't have as much of a spark as I would have expected. That being said, I came for the ghosts and it did not disappoint!

What word could I use to describe Nora Roberts book "Inheritance". I would say " Amazing."
Nora Roberts has done it again! Inheritance is a most read this summer. It has everything! The book has romance, suspense and mystery from a family past. It is a page-turner. It was so hard to put down.
I highly recommend it to everyone!
I received this copy from Netgalley and publisher for a honest review. All thoughts are mine and mine alone.

This book is part of a series and ends in a cliffhanger. And I can't wait for the next book!
Sonya McTavish going through a rough patch having just called off her wedding after she finds her fiancé and cousin together when she learns her late father had a twin. Her uncle has recently passed away and left Sonya the family manor in Maine. With nothing to lose, Sonya packs her bags and heads to her new home. It doesn't take long for Sonya to realize she's not alone in the manor.
Things heat up in the manor as Sonya, Trey, Cleo and Owen search for answers of how to break the curse of the lost brides.
I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to see what happens in this series! 4 stars

I love how Nora Roberts weaves some magic into her stories. This did not disappoint. Sonya inherits a haunted manor from an uncle she didn’t know she had. The family has a curse on the brides that has been going for hundreds of years and the haunted inhabitants are hoping she can be the one to break said curse. Sonya starts having dreams about each of the 7 Brides while the evil haunted witch of the manor tries to scare her off. The ending leaves us in a cliffhanger and I’m very excited to read the next.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts
This is the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy. I love how it starts - no slow buildup here.
Sonya inherits a mansion in Maine from an uncle she did not know she had but she has to live in it for 3 years to keep it. She decides to do a 3 month trial run. Lost Bride Manor is overwhelming but Sonya falls in love with the house immediately. She ignored the references to ghosts but it gets harder to dismiss with doors opening and closing, cabinet doors open, her bed made or turned down. There is more to her inheritance than she thought.
I am enjoying the characters that Nora Roberts has created and look forward to reading more about them.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

Nora Roberts has hit the ball right out of the park with this first installment of a new series, the Lost Bride Trilogy. I did not know I could be so very enthralled by ghosts in an old Victorian Mansion, but WOW was I surprised! Sonya MacTavish finds her fiancé doing the deed with her cousin a week before the wedding and tosses him out of her life. When an unexpected visitor brings her news of an inheritance Sonya is in the perfect place in her head to accept the terms! The story just gets better from there. This book has plenty of everything for all readers - love, friendship, ghosts, intrigue, and some downright scary parts! And, talk about a cliffhanger…can’t wait for part 2!

A ghost story at its center this book is also a love story, a look into family history, and a little bit mystery. I don’t want to give a way the story and if you are interested in reading the book you probably already know what it’s about so I will tell you what I liked and what I disliked. It had a slow start, but not so slow that it was a hardship to turn the page. I think the character building was spot on, the plot build up was well done. I enjoyed learning about each person that enters Sonya’s life some who have been there all her life and some new people. Each person was someone she needed, someone she could learn from, and rely on. Throughout the book and as you learn more about the seven brides you understand more about the ghosts that haunt the manor. I loved that they each had their own personality. I want a ghost maid or a ghost DJ. I loved that that particular ghost spoke through songs. I found myself adding the songs to a playlist so I could listen to them. Some songs and artists I’ve heard others I hadn’t, but what a great addition to the story. The endings isn’t much of an ending, but I think knowing that “The Inheritance” is part of a trilogy it was to be expected. Doesn’t make it any easier to have to wait, but it was expected. Thank you NetGalley and St.Martin’s Press for the chance to read this advance copy.

I loved parts, liked others, and grumbled at the end. This book had a historical, gothic feel with curses and ghosts. For me, it started a bit slow and dragged in places but it did hold my interest. I enjoyed the characters and the relationship between Sonya and Trey; it was slow-burn and entertaining with some steam. The entirety of the plot was suspenseful and intriguing. I liked the historical background surrounding the curse and the spooky parts related to the mansion itself. I’m not a big fan of cliffhangers and this ended in one I was not expecting – now I’m ready for the next book to see what happens.
Mystery, suspense, excitement, romance, and more! A bit different but enjoyable nonetheless.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Calling all Nora Roberts fans. Inheritance is the first book in the new Lost Bride Trilogy and it doesn’t disappoint. Sonya MacTavish was set to become a bride but she calls off her own wedding when she finds her fiancée in a compromising position with her cousin. She then gets a strange visit from her uncle’s attorney stating that she has inherited a haunted house - one condition she must move there for 3 months.
Loved this book. If you like haunted houses and Roberts books then this is the book for you.

Sonya MacTavish is standing in the shambles of her impending wedding and career when she learns of a long lost twin to her late father. The inheritance he leaves her in Maine is an old estate that requires that she live inside for several years. It's the perfect time for a change, it's the worst time for a change! She isn't sure what to do.
When she arrives at the house she learns about it's haunted past but it is not until music plays sporadically and her things are moved before she begins to really wonder what did she inherit?
loved the setting and the overall vibes of this book. It is the perfect balance of spooky and cozy and romantic. The curse and the history of the house is detailed in flashbacks that all tie together by the end. And that ending? Can’t wait for #2!
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for a free advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

I read anything that Nora Roberts writes, so I was thrilled to receive an early copy of Inheritance (thank you Netgalley!) Inheritance was a classic Nora romance with a little bit of supernatural themes woven throughout. I think Nora fans will be pleased with this new book. I only wish I knew ahead of time that this is going to be a series, it’s not a standalone.

Sonya's story grabs you from the first chapter and doesn't stop through out. Learning her family history and the tragedies that unfold are heartbreaking but also riveting. Dealing with her own emotional rollercoaster with her relationship and suddenly finding out all these hidden secrets, haunted mansion, and meeting sexy Trey makes for a story you can't put down. I don't especially care for cliff hangers and I try to not read books that have them but I will definitely read the next one in this series.

Wow- just wow - this book was incredible. With every chapter the reader is taken on a wild ride back and forth between present and past. The journey takes Sonya on the path of the 7 brides that had lost their lives on their wedding day and those they left behind. Between the bumps in the night, the piano music and the ghost who plays with her dog, the storyline just got better and better. The ending will leave you on the edge of your seat and needing more. Perfectly planned, perfect executed. I cannot wait for book 2.
