There’s a reason why I don’t usually read the first book in a trilogy until all are published and it’s called cliffhangers! Somehow, I managed to forget that Inheritance was the start of a new trilogy by Nora Roberts – The Lost Bride Trilogy. So when I reached the end of this 400+ page book, I was both surprised by the abrupt ending and disappointed that I would have to wait for more. But it’s also a sign of how much I enjoyed Inheritance

This book has all of the hallmarks that make Roberts’ books so popular – believable and engaging main characters, an intriguing plot line, and a beautiful setting. This time there is a definite Gothic twist to Roberts’ usual romantic suspense combo in the form of a large mansion, located on the coast of Maine, which is occupied by the ghosts of various members of the household from the past two centuries.

Other than a bit of a lag in the middle, bogged down by a few too many repetitive and bland details, Inheritance checked all the boxes for this reader. There were even bits of humor to enjoy as well three beloved rescue dogs. Will definitely be looking forward to the next installment!

I like Nora Roberts book, but I think my middle school students would find this hard to get into. I did like how she did end the book and left it open ended for the reader...

First off thank you: NetGalley and the publisher St. Martin's Press for the ARC received.
ALL opinions are my own!

Unpopular opinion..... this is a really slow read.
I will not go into any details about the book so many have already done that.

I have read a few books by Nora Roberts and I'm starting to think she is just not for me, and that is totally ok. We don't all enjoy the same books and or content do we?

I think if the pacing had be quicker it would have really made this harder to put down.
Its not horrible at all but long and slow (which I realize works for some people)
I do love a good ghost in a story but for this didn't work for me.

The COVER is stunning!!!
Overall I think if you love Nora you will enjoy this book give it a try!!

I love Nora Roberts books so when I get a chance to read one of hers, I drop everything else I'm reading and read that one. I have to say that Inheritance did not disappoint. This is a story of love lost and a new love found. An inheritance of a beautiful old house and all its furnishings and the history that comes along with it. New found relatives and starting life in a new town. Oh and ghosts! What old house wouldn't have ghosts? Some nice and convenient to have around and some mean. The only downside to reading the first book in one of Nora Robert's trilogies is having to wait to read book 2.

Wow—I’m not normally a fan of the paranormal but this was too good to put down. And that cliffhanger. Kicking myself for reading this before the other books are released!

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for several years and I love how recently she's been expanding her writing style. This book dives into the paranormal with a curse on brides. WARNING...below may contain spoilers

If you are anything like me and would rather read all books in a trilogy or series in a row, then don't start this book until the next two are released. The book ends in a cliffhanger (which I noticed another trilogy of Nora Roberts' did the same). I'm left wanting to know what is next.

This is a fabulous ghost story. I had to read this book during the day time because some of the story just scared me. I love the main character Sonya who trys to stand up to all that's going on in the house she inherited, and she does pretty well until the end of the novel when she enters The World through a Looking glass (mirror). Of course all the supporting characters are fortright and caring and very involved in what Sonya is experiencing and happy to help her. It makes me feel that Sonya has someone to support her through this difficult time. I love Sonya's new doggy friend Yoda who stands by her when events become scary. And finally, I wish that there was a happy ending in this novel because it leaves so many open questions about what's going to happen next, but I still can't wait to read the next story in this series, because it's probably going to be another bumpy and scary ride to the finish.

I want to thank St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advance copy of this story.

Nora Roberts never fails to start off her trilogies with a bang! This story was the perfect mix of, Haunted house, centuries-old curses, suspense, and of course romance. I immediately fell into this story and fell in love with our Characters. We follow Sonya as she learns a hard truth ends her engagement and soon after finds out she has a family she never heard about and an inheritance that will change her life. I can not wait for the next book in this series.

Inheritance
The Lost Bride Trilogy #1
by Nora Roberts
This a novel of fantasy.
Graphic designer Sonya MacTavish is amazed to learn that her late father had a twin he never knew about—and that her newly discovered uncle, Collin Poole, has left her almost everything he owned, including a majestic Victorian house on the Maine coast, which the will stipulates she must live in it for at least three years. (The house is nicknamed Lost Bride Manor) Sonya soon finds out that the house is haunted. In 1806 Astrid Poole is murdered on her wedding day. Her last words-a promise to her husband never to leave him.
Sonya sees shadows in the windows, objects moving on their own accord and music start playing.
Sonya soon realizes she has inherited a centuries old curse and puzzle she must solve and is assisted by Trey the young lawyer and her best friend Cleo. Sonya and Cleo are strong protagonists, but different personalities which adds humor to this fantasy fiction.
Two more books to come in this Lost Bride Trilogy.

Inheritance is the start of The Lost Bride Trilogy. As a longtime Nora fan, I know the formula. This book still had me hooked. Sonya, after a bad break up, inherits a house from an uncle she never knew she had. It is haunted by a witch and the seven brides she’s killed along with a few random others. Despite this, Sonya loves the house and is determined to stay. She invites her bff to move in as well- who happens to have an affinity for witchcraft. Of course her lawyer’s son is gorgeous and available as is her cousin, who happens to be his bff. I know what will happen… and I love it. Read it from cover to cover. Thanks Nora. Thanks Netgalley for the ARC. My opinions are my own.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this. Sonya who recently ended a relationship is looking for change. She inherits a property that has been in her family for generations. While living their she realizes their are ghosts. While at her place she meets Collin. They take it slow at the beginning. This was a great read.

Nora Roberts' latest novel, "Inheritance," at first glance may seem to be a rehash of topics she has writen about before: a house haunted by a disturbed ghost (cf. "In The Garden" trilogy), a beautiful house in Maine (think of the setting of "Shelter In Place"), a blend of the natural and supernatural (the Dragon Heart trilogy, among others). What makes "Inheritance" special is Nora Roberts' depiction of new characters, their interactions and conversations: for example, the long-standing friendship of college roommates Sonia and Cleo seems genuine. Reading a Nora Roberts book makes you want to celebrate your own friends, exercise more, and live better and more fully.

I was a bit skeptical of the setup of the novel when I started--the "curse" of the previous brides in that family--but was soon caught up as the story unfolded. I look forward to the sequel, because I was left hanging, wanting more!

With my thanks to the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a great concept! I absolutely adore this book. It is eerily creepy but funny and romantic as well. Nora Roberts definitely has a gift of creating such vivid pictures in her words. This story is so intriguing, I need the next book yesterday!. This will be a fantastic fall/spooky season book.
If you are a fan of Nora Roberts, this will not disappoint! If you are not a fan...well you should be and shame on you! Pick this up.

Thank you for allowing me to read this book early for an honest review!

If I had to summaries this review in one sentence it would be: "An enchanting and haunting tale - a must-read Masterpiece!"

Inheritance, the first installment of The Lost Bride Trilogy by the brilliant Nora Roberts, is an absolute masterpiece that effortlessly weaves together tragedy, romance, mystery, and the supernatural. This enchanting tale grips your heart from the very first page and refuses to let go, taking you on a mesmerizing journey through time and emotions. I absolutely loved it!

Set in the captivating backdrop of 1806, Astrid Poole's tragic fate sets the stage for a story that spans generations, filled with love, heartbreak, and a chilling family curse. Roberts's writing is nothing short of magical, immersing the reader in a richly detailed world where past and present entwine with grace and precision.

The protagonist, Sonya MacTavish, is a multi-dimensional and relatable character who discovers a shocking secret about her family after the passing of her father. As she embarks on a journey to the haunting Victorian house on the Maine coast, I was captivated by her strength, vulnerability, and determination.

The author's skillful portrayal of the house itself as a character adds an eerie and palpable atmosphere, keeping us on the edge of our seats as we encounter inexplicable occurrences and ghostly manifestations. The way Nora Roberts effortlessly blends the supernatural elements into the plot is commendable, striking a perfect balance between the otherworldly and the tangible.

The intricately crafted plot keeps you guessing at every turn, teasing you with clues and revelations that will keep you glued to the pages until the very end. Each chapter unravels a new layer of the puzzle, building an irresistible sense of suspense and anticipation that will leave you breathless.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Inheritance to any reader in search of a captivating and thrilling read. Nora Roberts has once again proven herself as the reigning queen of romantic suspense, leaving us eagerly awaiting the next chapters in The Lost Bride Trilogy. Prepare to be bewitched and beguiled—this book is truly deserving of its 5-star rating and more!

When I found out Nora Roberts had a new trilogy coming out I was eager to get my hands on it. This story is full of rich characters, mysterious happenings in a haunted Victorian manor.
Sonya is my favorite type of heroine, one who faces tough situations head on with hard work and integrity. The manor is such a central part to the story it’s really almost a character. The descriptions of the building make me feel as though I have walked the halls alongside Sonya. I loved the relationships between characters- executed the way NR does so well.
I was NOT prepared for the abrupt cliffhanger ending. I seriously must have sat with a dropped jaw for a couple minutes trying to process not only what happened in the story, but also the fact that I now have to wait a year for a resolution and more from these charming characters.
If you don’t like cliffhangers, I suggest you wait until the full series is released-but do read this one!

I don't normally read books with any paranormal elements but I enjoy Nora Roberts so I decided to try Inheritance. I really liked this book. The characters are funny and personable. Most are very likable. The "DJ'" in the story is hilarious and I found myself looking forward to the next song. As always, Ms. Roberts has written a fast-paced suspenseful book. A real page turner. I had an issue with the end. I realize the reason for the ending but I found myself staring at the last page for a while letting it all sink in before I closed the book. I would definitely recommend Inheritance.
I received an ARC of this book but am voluntarily giving my honest review.
