It has been a long time since i read a Nora Roberts book, but I used to love them. This book was an enjoyable story with an entertaining story. I always love a relocation story, where a female character has to establish their new life, and I liked that this character brought her career with her to her new location instead of leaving it behind. The slow burn romance development was appropriate for the characters and I enjoyed that it took time for the relationship to develop vs other contemporary romances I have read recently where the characters fall instantly in love. The ending killed me though -- when is that next book coming?? I must know what happened.

This is a great book! It has been several years since I read a Nora Roberts book, that wasn’t JD Robb, and it was such a pleasant surprise. I could not put this one down and read it one day. I am not sure I knew that Nora wrote spooky books but she does, and well.

Inheritance somehow encompasses a haunted manor house, big city/small town romance and a touch of cozy mystery all in one! This was a definite five star read for me and I can’t wait for book two in the Lost Bride trilogy.

A new trilogy by Nora Roberts which mixes historical romance with mystical mystery set in 1806. It begins with the tragic death of Astrid Grandville who is overwhelmed with joy after marrying Collin Poole. The newly married Mrs. Poole is found murdered on her wedding day still wearing her dress. Oddly, they find that her wedding ring was missing!

The story is brought to the present with Sonya MacTavish prepared to marry Brandon Wise, a graphic artist like herself. They worked together at By Design where she was senior designer. What is unusual is his insistence on planning the large fancy wedding at a Back Bay Boston hotel. Sonya doesn't express the same enthusiasm and especially not after she walks into her house to find her cousin, Tracie in bed with Brandon. You know, the "it's not what it looks like" scenario! The betrayal hits hard as it's her mother Winter's sister, Summer. Yes, they are named after seasons! There is fall out from the cancelled wedding as Brandon becomes bitter to his ex-fiancé with whom he still works.

Life has a way of working itself out as Sonya receives notice that she is to inherit an old mansion on the Maine coast from an uncle that no one knew existed. She learns that her deceased father Andrew MacTavish had a twin brother, Collin Poole, who was leaving his rumored haunted mansion to her. She isn't sure if she wants to uproot her life and move to Maine until she sees the impressive home. When she arrives for the reading of her uncle's Last Will, she is greeted by Trey a young lawyer tasked with executing the will. He provides a tour with commentary of the massive home which feels like it holds secrets and memories from the past. The atmosphere of the home is filled with an eeriness of a place still occupied by family members who have yet to move on from the tragedies that occurred there.

Trey proves to be more than just an executor of the will as he offers assistance after the professional obligations are complete. The attraction between them only intensifies as they work together to uncover the mysteries that the house holds regarding rumors of young brides found murdered with their wedding rings mysteriously missing. Sonya begins to feel uneasy as the energy in the home is clearly sending her subtle message which begin to become more aggressive in nature. Fortunately, she is able to convince her best friend, Cleo Fabares to move in. The story has developed and has you captured wanting to know what happens next.

The ending is such a cliff hanger that you feel like you are literally hanging onto the cliff's edge! Many ideas and theories floating in your head that must wait until The Mirrors, book 2 is released in November 2024. Kudos to Nora Roberts for creating such a spell-binding intense trilogy with such a dramatic ending. Of course, any fan of Nora Roberts is familiar with her many trilogies!

Nora is an auto read/ buy author for me so I go into biased that I really like her writing even when the stories at times drag or are repetitive. Inheritance is a book that knows it will be a series and was a little too long because of that; it felt like took a bit too long get to the real action of the book (literally the end of the book and total cliffhanger) but that didn't mean I didn't really enjoy it! It is still a solid 4.5 stars for me. I loved the main characters, the side characters, the ghosts, the plot and the big scary house in Maine where it all goes down.

Nora Roberts introduces us to another intriguing and addictive trilogy, luring us in with a two-century-long mystery and spine-tingling ghost story vibes.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts begins like most rom-coms. The main character, Sonya MacTavish, has her world upended by betrayal. As she strives to find her way forward, she discovers a surprise inheritance that sets her life in drastically different direction. As this romance proceeds, the reader soon realizes there's more going on than a sweet love story. Roberts weaves in a paranormal aspect that a is unsettling and almost caused me to stop reading since I do not usually enjoy that genre. I am glad that I persevered and am anxiously anticipating the next book in this trilogy The Mirror which is scheduled for release in November of this year.

This is my first Nora Roberts book and I am a little confused.... I liked it and, at the same time, I was very upset of how she ended it. I know this is a trilogy, but was it necessary to end it like that?! I also understand that she wanted to create some "to be continued" kind of thing, and I am wondering what does this next book will bring. Would we finally know who's the evil spirit? would we have to wait unitl book 3?? What is this evil spirit in the house? And why does she takes the wedding rings from all the brides??!!!

Overall, I think this book could have been shorter, too much extra information that didn't add to the plot. Also, I have to be honest, but I find it crazy that someone will live in a haunted house by themselves and have ghosts that like to play music, make my bed, wash my dishes and play with my dog (oh! and lets add the one that is trying to kill me as well! lol)

This book is another lovely romance from Nora Roberts - she never disappoints and the characters always live in your heart and mind for a time after reading.
I look forward to book 2 in this trilogy and rereading and falling back into the world she has created.

This is is one of the best books I red this past year!!!
Nora Roberts did not disappoint, as I was getting to the
end of the book. I was left hanging waiting to see what was
going to happen and what were Sonia and Owen (cousins) were going to
find on the other side of the mirror.. Trey and Cleo were left behind along
with Yoda their puppy looking at the mirror hoping that they had made
the right decision in letting them do through the mirror.

Now we must wait and see what QUEEN Nora has in store for us .

Oh, how I wanted to love this book! And in some ways, I did.

After leaving her cheating fiancé, Sonya learns that her dearly departed father had a long-lost twin brother who has also recently passed away, and Sonya is to inherit the beautiful gothic mansion in Maine.

Upon taking up residence in her new home, Sonya learns that there are more things that go bump in the night than just an old house settling. Lost Bride Manor is haunted.

Earning its name due to the number of women who have died in the house on their wedding day (or during childbirth) in the manor, Sonya soon begins to unravel the history of the house…of her family history. Along the way, she falls for the young lawyer, Trey, while dealing with ghostly encounters.

Sounds amazing, right? And it is. Except that aside from one singular ghost hell-bent on scaring the bejeezus out of Sonya, nothing goes wrong for Sonya. Her life is essentially perfect. She starts her own freelance business, with the help her her former employers no less, and every person she meets absolutely loves her work and immediately hires her to do work for them as well. Plus, as stated before, she lands the sexy lawyer.

But I can look past all that. I loved the ghosts and the descriptions of the house, but what I can’t look past, is the non-ending. Yep. A flat out cliffhanger. Look, I’m fine with cliffhangers when there has been some resolution to the story, but this was a complete non-ending. And I’ve been done reading this book for 18 days and I’m still salty over this ending. That said, yes, I will read the next two, but if the next book pulls this same stunt, I may never read another Nora Roberts book again, for fear that this is her norm.

Another great Nora Roberts! I really liked the world she created with the old house and the curse of the brides. I'm not so sure I'd be comfortable with a ghost in the house. Thank you Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book!

Nora Roberts has created a new series, The Lost Bride Trilogy. Inheritance is the first in the series and captures my interest right away. I really love the intensity of the mystery where we see past and present lead toward Sonya claiming her inheritance in Maine. I am actually planning on being in Maine this summer, so the setting and location also peaked my interest. Roberts shows the reader the beauty and serenity found in a peaceful area while she builds the tension of a confrontation between the killer and Sonya to come.

Sonya and Trey have good chemistry. I like that much of the novel is about Sonya figuring out what is right for her. The ghosts brings in a bit of supernatural, which I feel Roberts handled perfectly. With just the right note of disbelief and suspense.

Overall, well written and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series!

Talk about ending on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to know what happens next. This was such an amazing book. I loved everything about it especially the haunting aspects. There are so many feelings about this book.

This was my first novel by Nora Roberts, and I've only heard really great things. Unfortunately, the voice read to be older than the protagonist actually was. There were quite a few older slang terms that didn't fit for a current audience. The premise and setup is fun, but the pacing was slow in the middle and could have used a good cut on word count.

Sonya is busy planning her wedding and is becoming overwhelmed. She cancels a florist appointment, heads home early and finds her fiance in bed with her cousin.

She and fiance work at the same company. He isn't kind and she decides it is time to move on. She quits her job and goes out on her own as a graphic artist.

Sonya learns her father had a twin and said twin has left her a mansion in Maine. There is a stipulation she must live in Poole Manor for three years to inherit. Fun fact - Poole Manor is haunted by some former brides. Sonya is determined to stay and figure out the curse.

There was an interested cast of side characters, mystery and romance. Looking forward to book 2.

I've tried Nora Roberts books in the past and didn't really get into them so was hesitant on reading this one but I am glad I did! The characters were pretty enjoyable and well rounded, the pacing was decent and I enjoyed the paranormal aspect. I would continue to read this series!

I loved this book!! It was fabulous and well done. The characters were on point and I thought the plot was well developed. I would recommend this book to others.

Nora Roberts does not disappoint with this book yet again. It was beautifully written, hard to put down, and I fell in love with all the characters in the story. Every single one of them is likeable. It's one of those feel good stories that puts you in another place and time and makes you feel like you are there living the story alongside all the characters. The ending was also great even though now I cannot wait for the sequel to publish!
Nora Roberts is one of these authors that will make you enjoy every single book she wrote. This one being very different with the paranormal but still a great story line. Well done! 5 🌟 from me.
