Ugh!! It ends on a cliff hanger!!! I can't wait for the next book. I really enjoyed reading this book. I would love to visit a small town in Maine now. The scenes, settings, and characters were all great. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

This book had a bit of a slow start, but it picked up at the halfway mark. It ended on a cliffhanger, so I can't wait for the 2nd book!

Inheritance is a mesmerizing first installment in Nora Roberts’ Lost Brides Trilogy.

Still dealing with a sudden breakup with her fiancé, Sonya gets some unexpected news. A visitor informs her that her father had a twin, Collin, who recently died and has left her his manor house and most of his estate. Wait! What? Per terms of Collin’s Will, Sonya must reside in the manor house for a year in order to fully inherit. As a graphic designer, she is able to work from anywhere, and she decides to live at the manor for three months before committing to a more permanent decision. Sonya is curious and determined to find out more about Collin and why they never knew about him.

Her father had been a gifted painter, and Sonya learns that Collin had been, too. Soon after arriving at the Manor, Sonya discovers a painting she knows her father had painted. How could that be? Had Collin known about her father? Other strange unexplained things are happening, t0o. Her bed is made, things are put away, the fireplace is already lit when she enters the room, outfits are chosen and laid on her bed. She doesn’t remember doing any of these. How is that possible?

The Manor is known locally as the Lost Brides Manor, as seven brides have died there on their wedding days, or soon thereafter. It is fascinating to discover ancestors, who they were, what they were like, and Sonya is determined to find out why the Lost Brides died. Something, or someone, sinister is fiercely determined to keep Sonya from solving the mysterious deaths of her ancestors.

Nora Roberts has done a masterful job with Inheritance. I was invested in the story from the beginning, learning about Sonya’s ancestors and how connected the past and present really are. I appreciate receiving a preview copy through NetGalley. I can’t wait to read the other two installments of The Lost Brides Trilogy.

The first book of a magical trilogy and I can’t wait for the next book to be released.
Sonya inherited a manor left to her by her Father’s twin brother that she nor her Father knew existed.
She moves into the manor for a trial period and quickly finds that it is haunted. It is haunted by good ghosts that do chores, play tunes on her iPad and play ball with her dog. Of course there is a bad ghost that is causing havoc and the person who is responsible for the death of brides in the family.
Sonya begins having dreams and is determined to solve the mystery of the lost brides.
The ending is a cliffhanger.
A little bit gothic, romance, supernatural, suspense and mystery.
I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a review.
A book you don’t want to put down .

Such a cute and fine read. A perfect take to the beach or park for the day and sit back and relax and enjoy.

What a fantastical read this book is. It’s a cozy story with a great heroine, sexy love interest, and delightful side characters who make me wish I had a ghost DJing my life. The tale is riveting and once opened, couldn’t be put down until the very annoying cliffhanger of an ending. One of those books that sticks with you long after it’s done. Honestly cannot wait for the sequel..

I'm a huge Nora Roberts / JD Robb fan, and will read just about anything she publishes! This did not disappoint. I did find it somewhat similar to the Boonesboro trilogy, with the bride hanging about the manor. Regardless, I found it enjoyable and the mystery is certainly intriguing. Quite the cliffhanger, which certainly has me anticipating the next installment (if only it came out sooner). While this advanced copy did not include it, I hope that the published version will include a copy of the Poole family tree created and researched by Deuce. At times, I found the relationships of all of the family members murky and difficult to follow - I found myself taking notes!
To summarize - please keep writing!

Sonya McTavish inherits a Victorian mansion on the Maine coast from an uncle she never knew existed. Fresh from a broken engagement, she takes off to visit her inheritance and to decide if she wants to abide by the terms and live there for 3 years.
Apparently haunted by past brides who actually died there, on their wedding days, the place is full of screams and weeping, unexplained music that starts and stops on its own, and things that go "bump in the night". Sonya stays on, with her best friend who moves in, determined to outlast the ghosts as she works to unravel the mystery of the house and makes new friends along the way.
Roberts is at her best with character development and storyline intrigue but it is still a little too much of the supernatural for me.
Will wait for Book Two because, as is the case with all her trilogies of past, I simply must continue the tale.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts is the first in a new trilogy by the queen of trilogies. It's a great start... Sonya inherits an estate from her father's twin who she didn't know existed. As she works out family relationships, she discovers the home 8s haunted by the list brides, all 9f whom died when they first married. The only frustrating 5hing about this novel 8s that the rest aren't available! Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Inheritance is so much better than Identity. Inheritance was far more cohesive. I would have given more stars, but the ending is a bit of a sucker punch. I don't recall her other trilogies ending so abruptly. Except for Identity, it's been a few years since I've read a Nora Roberts book. I didn't think she was into cliffhangers.

My issues: Ms. Roberts still seems fixated on dashes. There were as many (or more) in this book as in the previous. Though these seemed a little less disruptive. They were, however, still annoying.
There were too many disjointed sentences. I'm old school and like my sentences to have a subject, verb and object. I can handle complex sentences, just not incomplete sentences.
Hopefully, there will be some editing done before release. (i.e., on one page Cleo had on tiny, white shorts; two pages later she was in cropped jeans.)
I felt that the swearing started too soon into the "getting to know you" stage. I have no problem with swearing or the F-bomb, just not that soon. You want to know if the person is comfortable with that before dropping it on them.
Finally, I still have a problem with such family/friend perfection. It is impossible to have no faults. The closest to reality that came was Anna being upset with Trey's reasonableness.

All in all, it was a decent read. Ms. Roberts is known for her trilogies.
I would recommend this book.

Thank you to #NetGalley#StMartin'sPress#NoraRoberts for this ARC.

What a first book in this trilogy! Know that this story tells what I think will be the beginnings and details of the overall arc. It is what it is all about. It’s what I think a first book should be.

What a strong character Sonya is! I’m not sure I’d be able to live the way she decides to do after her life implodes on her. Her life is turned on its head, in a very good – but strange! – way by a relative she never knew she had. She moves to Lost Bride Manor, as the locals call it, and deals with Trey, aka Oliver Doyle III, hence the play on ‘tres’.

There are lots of changes in Sonya’s life but she is dealing, sort of. She meets more relatives, brings along an old and dear friend for the ride, and starts to get close to Trey. And starts building trust in him. I loved reading all the relationship building in this story. In my humble opinion, I think Trey had to make the biggest leap of faith, at the end, and I can’t wait to read what happens next! Clever, exciting, some creepy-scary, but I loved it.

Nora Roberts again hits it out of the park with Inheritance, the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy. Sonya is a strong female character, which I appreciate and she’s going to need to be because of the haunted house she inherited. She needs to solve a mystery and break a curse so she won’t be next one to die. I liked all of the supporting characters. The only problem, I have to wait for book number two. I loved the book and look forward to reading the second book when it comes out.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for the opportunity.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts is the first of a new trilogy. I stayed up way too late reading this. The characters are intelligent and their interactions move the plot along nicely. I learned quite a bit about graphic design as the protagonist goes through her work days.

I will definitely read the full series, and eagerly await the next novel. This is prime Nora Roberts and I rated it 5 stars.

Great start. A great house that is more than expected. Interesting world building and great characters. Expect a cliffhanger.

Nora has delivered as always! I loved everything about this book! Except the next one isn’t ready yet! I couldn’t put it down and dreaded the end. This book ends on a ginormous cliff!!! I absolutely cannot wait for the next in the trilogy!

I love Nora Roberts and was so excited to get this ARC!

The plot of moving to or living in a haunted house isn’t a new one for Nora Roberts but she was able to change it up with friendly ghosts that the FMC interacted with. Inheritance is about a woman, just ending her engagement, learns that her father was a twin and she inherits a haunted mansion. The stipulations for her inheritance is that she has to live in the mansion for three years. Sonya moves in and immediately falls in love with the house and all it’s occupants, except the evil witch that has cursed the family and trapped herself inside of the mansion too.
The actual action of the book doesn’t happen until about 50% through the book. If you’re not interested in graphic design the book can seem a bit boring and slow paced. The love story between Sonya and Trey is a slow burn, as well. The bad hauntings aren’t that bad. A lot of repeat behavior from the petulant ghost, Hester Dobbs.
You don’t find much out about why the lost brides are in the house or why Hester wanted them dead.
There are some sweet moments with a boy ghost and Sonya’s dog, Yoda and Clover the ghost is fun to hang around. Other than that you don’t really learn much of who is haunting the mansion.
Cleo, Sonya’s best friend moves in with her and her character is more flashy and fun but doesn’t have much depth.
One thing that really doesn’t make a lot of sense is that in this world everyone is good looking (even the bad witch ghost) and everyone has an amazing talent. There are no ordinary people in this world. It just doesn’t seem realistic.
The pacing was off, as well. There are so many tedious details about Sonya’s day to day life that it just drones on after a while. I liked it in the beginning but once stuff started happening the scenes that went back to the boring day to day got repetitive and I was finding myself daydreaming instead of reading.
Overall I still loved it because it’s Nora Roberts and she can do no wrong in my world. Ending on a cliffhanger only makes me anxiously awaiting book two.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book is that the second book in the trilogy wasn’t sitting right next to me when I finished book one so I could continue the great story. I wasn’t so sure I would like a story that played on ghosts of the past. I did and do like it! It’s a fast moving, fun read. Will be easy to promote with our readers!

Nora Roberts delivers again, drawing the reader into the premise with the characters. The characters are relatable with great descriptions. I do wish the male main character point of view was more fleshed out. You are told this is book 1 of a new trilogy, however, it is not a stand alone read. That part was disappointing. Overall a good solid story/beginning of the series.

Nora has done it again. She has made me love another family, another town, another world. This story takes place in the present, but you learn so much history. The relationships are so real. Nora brings the scenery, the buildings, the pets, the weather -- all of it to life. Fantastic tale

First, it should be known that this is the first book in a trilogy, and it ends on a huge cliff. With that said, this book is nothing short of fantastic. It has a strong female heroine and unflappable male at the center. The love affair comes secondary to the mystery, which is well-presented and thought out. The haunted house and the ghosts -- both benevolent and malicious -- draw you into every scene. Add in some dogs, a best friend who is as unflappable as the hero, and a family atmosphere, and you have a winner on every page. The scenes flow from one to another seamlessly.

The heroine has inherited a haunted house, and the only caveat is that she must live there. Following an unhappy breakup, she picks up and moves, only to find that the sprawling mansion is filled with ghosts. From Molly the housemaid who keeps everything perfectly tidy to Jack the nine-year-old who plays ball with the dogs, you fall in love with each and every character.

Be prepared to sit up until you finish this in one go. It's that good.
